EDIT: TO ALEC sorry if i spelt ur name wrong you said AMAZON MEN WERE KILLED??!??!...where'd you read this, cause last night at 4 am i was so bored i actually read all those little background stories inside the Diablo 2 manual and it nowhere says they were killed it says they usually stayed at home because women were more physically fit with smaller thinner more agile bodies not because they killed men. If you have a source id be glad to read and correct myself but as of yet i do not know of any instance where they killed the men of the tribe.

No, I read it from sources from the Greek mythology, the original one. Not the diablo stuff lol. Just go on wikipedia. I said, they killed newly born males or they gave the male babies away to other tribes, non amazon tribes. But captured adult males they used for mating and slavery. I'd like to be one of the captive :P

yea, and then he can summon dragons and then ride them into the abyss where he can enslave demons and then consume them to gain 100000 stat points while wearing super plate, an armor so heavy that only this character can wear and yet it still doesn't hinder his movement as he can strafe with his bow at the speed of light...

I am basing this off of your comment, since most of what you said is the opposite of balance

there are male amazons, they just make the decisions like in RL <- lulz sexism jokes
    and made the babies

Yeah, but if you read about amazons, the male amazons at birth were either given away to non amazon tribes or killed. But captured males were used as slaves and for mating. Lucky bastards :D

imo there just bringing the amazon back, but probably with a new name and set of skills considering they don't want ppl to complain about reusing the same classes.

    Barbarian (melee/w little in magic)
witchdoctor (hybrid range dmg plus melee with pets/focuses on magic disease dmg)
wizard (your sorceress mage class/glass cannon heavy range magic)
monk (hybrid melee with holy magic in close range)
    ?

seems to me were missing the heavy physical ranged. Basically the barbarian and wizard cover to common figures in these or mmo games. meat sheild head basher and glass cannon. then we have witchdoctor and monk, hybrid classes more versatile than others but weaker at each individually. wheres physical ranged?

You cant bring back the amazon, because there are no male amazons. Amazons are only females. So that will kinda mess up the whole idea of an amazon. lol.

posted a message on Discussion: The last class is NOT a ranged class
    Quote from "OathofChaos" »
Okay, I've read a lot of threads saying that the last class will be some sort of Rogue // Amazon type thing.

The whole point of this thread is to discuss how it won't be (or for you to prove me wrong). I will be using logic and citations to prove my case. Please be mature and discuss rationally.

We've seen several archetypes thus far in what Blizzard has released:
~Barbarian - Sword and Shield type pure Melee warrior
~Witch Doctor - Enemy Manipulation, Damage over Time, and minion creator
    ~Wizard - Pure caster
    ~Monk - Speed Powerhouse

    And Damage Archetypes being;
    ~Pure Strong Melee (Barbarian)
    ~Disease and Fire (Witch Doctor)
    ~Lightning, Arcane, Cold (Wizard)
~Holy and Fast, Weaker Melee (Monk)

Now, if you've seen any of the gameplay footage, we all know that each class can hold its own in both short and long range battles. Even the Barbarian uses Ground Slam and Leap Attack, and the Wizard uses something similar to Arcane Explosion.
    Barbarian Gameplay Video
    Witch Doctor Gameplay Video
    Wizard Gameplay Video
    Monk Gameplay Video

Being that each class is capable of decimating its opponent at all ranges, we can safely assume that the last class will be able to do that very same thing. Based on this strand of logic, the last class cannot be a pure ranged class.

Now, someone had pointed out to me earlier that a short bow was shown as a dropped item in the Barbarian gameplay trailer at around 3:55. That is an excellent counterpoint, but the only issue is that the game has evolved quite a bit since then. To illustrate my point, I challenge you to find a Staff, some type of Claw-type weapon, or a wizard's orb in any of the previous videos, before the class was announced. I watched each video closely and didn't find it at all. Why? The game has changed tremendously.

So, now that I've finally laid my claim, I challenge you all to an honest debate as to why I'm wrong.

There will be claw weapons(fist weapons), there is evena rt work of them on diablo 3 official site, lol.

I think monk for me. Lol, yesterday I was actually flaming monk, believe it or not, but after watching the gameplay vids and hearing about his background lore and stuff, sounds like a fun class to be able to kick diablo's ass with :P
I used to play barb alot on D2, couple times with sorc and thats it. Monk sounds like the most tasteful(not in a gay sense) character to explore. Looking forward to D3 release.

    Oh, I get it.

You're one of those unpleasable fans who wants everything to be grimdark with no rainbows, and gritty filtering...

You act like D2 had original names.

If you got off your ass and looked at the gameplay video you'd realize that he is nothing like the witchdoctor

7/10, well played, you had me going for a little while

Can you give me a link then?

Unreal. You are still obsessed with the name. But I think this is the first time you've said anything about the design. So what is it about the design you do not like?

Looks way similar to the original design of the witch doctor.... all colorful and shiny.

We waited like 6 months for a new char class with virtually NO updates, just two or three art works updates to the blizzard's diablo 3 site. All this time to get a "monk". It took them 6 months, maybe more, to come up with that sh**y design and name. Great :)

    Hear, hear.

It's this new generation of internet kids. For some reason they feel like once they're behind an uber-cool screen name (with the year they were born at the end of it of course) it is their god-given right and duty to whine about everything they read. Everything.

thurk, you're actually the one sounding like a kid for posting these posts. I'm just expressing criticism, mostly towards the name for now. The names of classes and how the chars are designed is also important. Because when D3 was announced, almost everyone whine about the ART direction. It plays a big role.

That's your first post? You created an account just so you could whine about the new character?

I love these comments because I would love the see the brilliant ideas people like 'alec89' would come up with.

Next person to whine about the Monk better come up with a reasonable alternative or they're getting virtual-smacked.

    Yap :D
seems like too nerdy and comic like addition. They should have added something dark or mystical like the necro or assassin was in D2. Its just my opinion, relax.

Obviously you haven't watched the trailer if you think the Monk is magic based.

Way to not use facts though.

dude, its a freaking monk. Use your common sense. He will obviously use magic and some maybe mind controlling crap and thats it. Seriously though, they could have come up with something MORE original than "monk". sounds lazy.

Ok guys. I'm going to have to agree with many other people here. This is disappoint. I think blizzard are out of ideas for some new creative, never-seen before characters. So they throw in a monk. The name sounds boring, just too many magic based characters" Monk, witch doctor and that other character, I even forgot what it called but i know its also magic based. Blizzard is running out of ideas. They could have thought of something mroe interesting. I think they just threw it out there like they dont care. They're not passionate about the game, it seems. Its a let down. :(. I hope they can redeem themselves with the 5th character.
