Aug 30, 2009we should just close all these threads "coming out 2009, 2010,2011". Pointless as no one has actual information on when its to be released. Even 2011 is a guess on release using sc2 and wow expansion for a basis. Close them until we actually get some real information or an update on something.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Aug 30, 2009Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from "Monkage" »I apologize if this was stated already (I didn't read through the entire thread) but Blizzard did state when they first announced the game that there would be no BoE or BoP. The only type of BoE items would be Quest like items. Essentially, it'll be very similar to D2.
nope. They stated they're going to make level 85+ items boe. Only items in game that will be bop are quest items, which is fine.
Quote from "Equinox" »Can someone please tell me one good thing about BoE or BoP and also explain to me why a huge company like Blizzard can't regulate a game company without such artificial limitations while CCP could?
Boe is going to help control the market in d3, such as trading, gold making, and character progression. With it, you now have to make a choice, instead of just being able to to everything with the gear you found. Now, you can either equip on the character that found it, save it for another toon, trade it for something else, or sell for gold. This will in turn, increase item value through selling it, plus lower the amount of items that are for sale or trade, which is good. This will cause players to work more towards gear progression through the game instead of just getting all the top items for their level because some other guy doesn't use them anymore.
Aug 30, 2009Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from "Terror" »If you don't like base building, World In Conflict (not the expansion, though) should be a game you would very much enjoy.. it is one of the highest rated/reviewed RTS of this decade for a reason.
Base building is essential to the Starcraft experience for me.. no other game really provides that feeling of building up a good defense or field offense (save for select C&C titles).
I'll probably try sc2. But world in conflict and dawn of war 2 are both fun to play. Haven't tried dawn of war online yet, but world in conflict is fun against people.
Aug 30, 2009Posted in: Unannounced ClassQuote from name="Glarung-Master of Fear" »Ahh but the vampires or half vampires would have have to come from somewhere which brings out the problem that there is probably no place in the world of Sanctuary that has vampires living among the population. Also yes having a creature of the night on the hero's side would be interesting but what about the feeding and stuff? most if not all half vamps need to drink blood.. which could become a problem with the hero's.
I think we are more likely to get a Paladin style dark knight possibly with demonic sides.
I just hope its not a pure range but whatever it is I'm pretty sure it will be cool.
True it would be somewhat conflicting. But then again, so is a witch doctor, necromancer, or even assassin in their own ways. Definitely not holy classes or saints by any means. And for the feeding, don't think it would be much of an issue considering the health globes and what not (resemble blood in a bottle to me). Plus you don't ever see any of the other classes sitting down for a picnic, don't think they're all anorexic
Aug 30, 2009Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from "Valtonis" »that is just ripping off Planescape Torment.
it uses suicide as a story and game mechanic very well
Never played planetscape. Even if it is a ripoff of an idea, what isn't in games anymore? almost everything is borrowed from one story or another. Still think it would be fitting to diablo lore.

What the hell! My username has been magically transformed into Nathani instead of Nathani?l. Guess it doesn't recognise the ?. Hrmpf.
Edit: I guess the whole board doesn't recognise an e with two dots above it.
Yea my username is vl?d, but doesn't recognize the ?, so now its just vl
those question marks are supposed to be 'a' with a circle above it lol
Aug 29, 2009Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from "Calyx" »This is BS. That Jay Wilson quote is from Blizzcon '08. See for yourself: http://www.cinemablend.com/games/BlizzCon-08-New-Battle-Net-Will-Have-Fees-12751.html
Thats comforting. Good to see its an old quote. If they want to charge for special avatars, or other optional crap on battlenet, have at it. just leave monthly subscriptions out of it and let us play our game in peace.
Aug 29, 2009yes the quote above is a blue post. Its also date before blizzcon and the op link talks about this being decided after blizzcon.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Aug 29, 2009......I am pissed.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
The reasoning for wows monthly subscription was for constant in game support, patches always released including changes in content and items, even new areas to explore or raids.
This makes no sense for it to occur for d3 or starcraft. One of the greatest things about diablo was free battlenet, and now appears to be gone.
It seems all blizzards money has gone to their heads and now they just want every penny they can get any way possible.
A petition needs to be started for d3 and being against monthly subscriptions. Leave that to wow and let others enjoy the games without having to pay monthly.
Edit: God i hope those sources you posted are right emilemil1. I know its blizzard linked, but looking at the date of those posts, and that the one from starcraft2 is today, I hope blizzard didn't change it.
Aug 29, 2009Posted in: Unannounced ClassQuote from "waddlez" »considering there were vampires in d2....
and they were on the side of Diablo and Baal....
I don't think they are concerned with lack of food
and I thought vampires were 100% human, or humans were 100% vampire, idk how you can be both
No idea what the end of that means....
But looking at some past references, vampire hunter d, blade, and others. The half vampire half human role. These characters possessed both strengths that traditional vampires and humans have. They also acted as independent from both sides, but often used to destroy the pure vampires. Not trying to turn d3 into a vampire game, just thought a character like this could be interesting. Would allow for more story development, a completely different character to play from any of the other diablos, and allow for a mixed of range/melee class.
Quote from "emilemil1" »The D2 vampires were lame Their only Vampire characteristic was that they drained life on melee hits.
And they were also just monsters you were supposed to kill with no development, story, etc. Obviously one you would play would be more indepth with more skills, abilites.
Aug 29, 2009The 5th class should be a dunpeal, or half human/half vampire. Reasoning for fighting against hell would be that its corrupting all humans into demons, therefore eliminating their food (human blood). Not good nor evil, a mercenary type character that can use both ranged and close attacks with special abilities including those of a traditional vampire or super human senses.Posted in: Unannounced Class
Aug 29, 2009Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from "emilemil1" »that depends on who you ask I didn't understand english when I first played D2, but it was still fun. I play alot of games with 0 story and it is nothing wrong with them. I think that that a game should either have a really good story, or no story at all.
A example of a game with a close to non-existant story is WoW The story in it is basically: "Characters from the other faction are your enemies, kill them. Demons are invading, kill them too."
Perhaps it has a deeper story, but then I didn't get it.
True story doesn't have to be all. But a game has to be balanced by story, gameplay, graphics, replay value, etc.
Wow actually has a pretty lengthy in depth story that follows through the warcraft strategy games and after that.
Aug 29, 2009Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from "Ent1ty" »No if you read the D2 Game manual the description of a zombie says it walks slow and then in the description of another monster it says they walk faster cause their skin doesn't rot where as the zombies skin rots and therefore walks slower.
I don't know what skin rotting would have to do with the speed of a creature, but generally I thought zombies moved slow because of limited brain function, or at least thats usually the reason given by stories, movies, etc.
Either way, in a fictional setting I don't see why zombies have to move any particular way. Look at 28 days/weeks later or dawn of the dead for instance.

it is like going to a christian community and asking them what is their religion and the poll would say 100% all Christian.
does that mean that the entire country is Christian?
or going to a Hispanic neighbourhood and polling people on their race.
90+% would be Hispanics would that mean that the country is 90+% Hispanics?
polls are just a fun gimmick which hardly reflects the truth.
and should be taken as that, just something fun to do and not be taken as a factual representation.
the most that you can say about that poll is that "people that visited that website and bothered to vote in that poll is more interested in KoTOR MMO"
Bad analogy. Its not like that at all. The poll is listed on a website for gaming. Not a wow website, or d3 website, a universal one. Theres just as much chance of someone who plays wow or d3 to see the poll and decide to vote or not. No its not 100% accurate, just as any poll isn't. But it shows a majority who've been to the site, regardless of which game they play have chosen d3 over wow expansion. While their are ten times the amount of wow players as their are diablo players, I can believe that d3 is more anticipated than the new cataclysm.

Oct 22, 2011lol let it go already. She's good looking and has a nice body. Women never use those attributes to advance, especially in a costume contest...Posted in: News
back on topic, most of the diablo costumes were kind of lackluster in my opinion, yes including tyrael. The best one was the last female demon hunter, but even her costume just seems underwhelming compared to the diablo art.
Jun 3, 2011It's a nice piece, but still lacking imo for 1 million likes. And to be honest, I think this was just thrown out to hopefully shut people up. The wallpapers they originally released were the 1 million prize, but too many people complained. So they threw out this image, hoping it would satisfy. They even state it's not a concept, it has nothing to do with the game, other than being a nice piece of fan art.Posted in: News
Apr 20, 2011This website is going to drive me crazy.....Posted in: News
A metaphor perhaps....
So this girl says she wants to have sex with you, but you have to wait, and god will you, because she is what you have always wanted.
Years pass, and she is still stringing you along, but you know when you finally get it, it will be worth it.
In the time thats passed, she constantly is teasing you, a dirty text message here and there, and once you start losing hope, I naughty picture comes your way! OK WERE BACK IN BUSINESS!
But still, nothing, just the teasing, and occasional visual to keep you leashed.
It's been 10 years now, and the teasing has become more consistent, more often, and promises of the day soon.....
During times like these, you often hit the bar, swallow your pride, and go for the average because it will hold you over for now. But damnit Blizzard! Lose the Chastity belt and let her free!!!!
Were talking about video games by the way......
