gameplay is by far the most important element of a game, closely followed by story. But to think graphics have no influence on how a game is reviewed is just stupid. Graphics don't make a game, correct. But for a game that already has potential, graphics can take it to the next level. Its not just about what computers the game can play on, its about staying competitive in a massive market of games. Graphics are one of those factors needed in order to keep the bar raised. Personally, I'm happy with how the graphics look on the game now. No, its nothing new and game breaking as far as graphics go, but its still a clean looking game. If they made d3 look like d2, everyone would be pissed wondering why they didn't do more with it visually. Theres already a thread with people complaining about the graphics as they are now.

achievements would be cool. Nothing game breaking, but would be nice to see little side tasks you've accomplished. Maybe even special titles for your character or items given to the character would be interesting

I agree that face changes would be pointless in diablo, considering your not really ever seeing the faces. However, skin tone options and possibly hair style options could be kinda cool to create some sort of uniqueness from char to another. Wouldn't need to be an insane amount, but maybe 3-5 different hair styles per class and 5 total skin tone options. Wouldn't be that intense to implement and would create more uniqueness available. Of course your character will look like someone elses, but at least it wouldn't be everyone elses

I highly doubt the game will be playable on a legendary pc such as that. Its possible, but even then on the lowest setting it probably wouldn't be any fun to play considering performance and visual.

I would expect them to cater the game to mid systems more so. Nothing extreme, but a computer running at least 2gb of ram, videocard within the past couple years, and at least a 2.0 ghz processor.

I like the idea about adding more depth into the storyline, gj thinking about that.

    On a sidenote;

Like the idea, but would really suck in HC mode :P
    - sort of like constantine?

Lol, obviously the suicide wouldn't end your career in hardcore mode. For instance, you reach the end of a dungeon before the final act, and in front of you waits tyrael. He congratulates you on your success thus far, but states you've only just begun. In order to truly defeat the evils, you must give up everything, including your own life, to destroy the final powers. He then asks you if you accept this act, and of course you do, killing yourself right then. Cut to cinematic of a portal trip through brimstone, fire, and souls lost in between, and alas, you arrive in the 5th act.

You still keep all your current skills, equipment. Essentially nothing about your character changes, just a storyline tie between the acts. I think it could be a pretty cool twist to the final act.

seems though if you just put all the weight on gold, couldn't ppl just transfer their gold to another player on their account? or maybe put it in town in their chest to eliminate any punishment? Thats why I think the item durability would work great. Sure you could try it naked, but that seems less likely to bypass than just gold costs istelf.

The xp reduction would be interesting, but I could see that being a real let down if you do end up reaching a part you get stuck on or die multiple times. Spent an hour gaining xp and just lost it in 15 min from dying too much. Sure it would make ppl more cautious, but could also make ppl turn the game off from frustration of the last hour wasted with no gain.

I like the idea of having reason behind it. Its not a necessity, but its small details like these that can really make a story compelling and draw you in.

On a side note, I think it would be kinda cool if you had to commit suicide or die by some nature in order to reach the final act of hell. the final chapter being a life after death playable version, then with the success of it, maybe tyrael or some other influence brings you back to reality.

posted a message on Death penalties
I think a nice way to punish death without being to extreme would be using durability loss on items. For instance:

    1st death: 0-2% loss
    2nd death: 4-6% loss
    3rd death: 8-10% loss
    4th + : 12% loss

give it a time duration, like you have to die consecutively in order to go up in the % loss, like deaths have to be within 3-5 min of eachother. If you go for 5-10 min without dying, your record is swept clean, and you start back at 1st death loss penalty. This would create an increasing punishment for excessive dying, by increasing repair costs for items, or possible item break if you go nuts with the deaths without paying attention.

Yeah uhm don't say i shouldn't post in the forum, cause if i am correct im pretty sure tis is an american run forum i am american and im pretty sure its a free country so don't tell me i can't post in the forum and first off he is slightly whining about how he can no longer make gold art and when thats what you do in videogames thats just weird. I for one get a videoame to play it, mind you he likes making gold art I just voiced my opinion of its uselessness to me so i feel its pointless okay?...if you seriouslly have a problem with my post im sorry and i agree i was out of line in being rude. But don't tell me i cant post in the forum.

Just to correct you, it's an independently run forum, not an american run forum. So technically, your citizenship and freedom of speech mean nothing. If an administrator wanted to ban you, they could, for no reason at all if they really wanted to. There are no constitutional rights here, except the ones given to us and allowed by owners and administrators of this sight.

Secondly, I agree that I buy a game to play it as well, but gold art being one of the things within the previous diablo, seems to be a side hobby the op enjoyed within the game. No problem voicing your opinion, just tone it down with the personal attack.

you can buy CE editions online
buying a collectors edition online would have to be shipped to you, so that kinda defeats the purpose of getting it right when it comes out.

I also, will buy a collectors edition if they include a d3 artwork book with it.

Blizzard (the company making the games) has said (literally: they have spoken the words) that Diablo 3 (the game we are both speaking about) will not even be out by 2010 (which is next year),

just out of curiosity, where did blizzard state verbatim it wouldn't be out by 2010?

I would really like to be optimistic and say d3 is closer than we think. Maybe blizzard is just setting up a way later date, just in case, but plans on releasing sooner. People are happier to get something sooner than expected, opposed to being told its soon and getting it later.

At the same time, I just don't care. All these threads, and what ifs don't do anything for the release of the game, so let it go and just wait till its actually here.

posted a message on A way to make your character totally unique, WITHOUT STAT POINTS!
I disagree, it just makes it one extra step to be a different character. It still isn't really adding uniqueness to the game. Think of it this way, the way it plays now, you can use anything. so you have to change your skill to say what your best at using. So you find a better weapon, you change it. Find another better weapon, you change your skill again. How is this changing anything? Other than swapping your weapons, but that rarely would be useful if you have one thats already superior to the others.

Or if you have to level up your skill in using a weapon, ppl will just work a way around it like they did in wow. Find a weak, fast weapon that you need to skill up in, and go beat on something with a lot of health that doesn't hit too hard.

you also don't want to make dying to severe in penalties. If you do all your going to do is recreate WOW's system where people will stop playing public games, and clans will take over. I personally wouldn't want that and enjoy being able to just jump in a game with whoever. I agree there needs to be a penalty, but not to the point it keeps you from enjoying the game unless your have ventrillo with some dick screaming to kill "x" guy.
