i don't understand why monks can't use heavy plated. i mean, it will look lame if i put an armor on a barb, and it looks fully plated, and i put the same on a monk, and then it just gets "thin"
just make the plated armor look like it has more mobility on a monk. i think it's enough, and it will look cool for me. like, the won't be anything on the joints... i dunno.
so. the other thing. i will be happy if the monk have auras. i can't see why it would go wrong. they could balance it with many different things.

for me that's what cartoony means. Like on my drawing classes, or Art History Class, or my Sculpture Class. They have said it now a second time that they ARE aimint to make objects physically, or shape-wise realistical, so i believe that after polishing, the game will be simply more flashy than the previous ones, and more with `epic' stuff you know, but not cartoony or un-serious in a WoW-like or any other way...
If it's not following the real proportions and anatomy, then, it's cartoony.
Of course, we could get in a big art discussion here, talking about expressionism, cubism, and whatever. But i think is a valid label to determine a characteristic of an Art style.
but anyway, like i said, i don't care. just tell : "hey we think really big swords, are awesome, so we are going for it, ok?"
As long as they don't make giant shoulder pads i'm ok.
Like it is said on the post, from d1 to d3, there is d2, that seems to be in "the middle", which i think is ok, to have this progression. and i totally understand, that would be really hard to do a very realistic game, without requiring everybody to buy new computers. (You know, more detail, more polygons, more mapping, higher textures...)
(But i'm still pissed with sc2, but that is not the topic's subject)
Quote from name="The_Infamous 1" »Every piece of info i read about this game it makes me want to play the game more and more. I bet everyone fells the same tho.
know what i feel?
"oh lord, please help them go trough it, jesus, help those, because i'm dying a little more inside every time i read about Diablo 3, but i remember i'm still at least a whole year away from it, probably 2."
i can only think how the waiting is killing me. -
Sep 21, 2009Laio posted a message on "The Road To Diablo III"Posted in: NewsQuote from "Kenzai" »OK, i'll `hop on the artstyle bandwagon' once more.
Be it design philosophy differences, artist team differences, technical issues, what ever; there's an undeniable difference in the very general feeling of D3, in comparison to D2 and D1. (In my opinion D2 is somewhere in between 1-3; but that's a bit too detailed and will depend on opinions too much...)
Say whatever you want but, with the general graphical structure of D3, which utilizes especially very bright and colerful skills (including Barbarian (physical) skills), and the general big=strong=epic=GOOD and mature=gore=BLOOD philosophy (i admit that i am exaggerating; bias is inevitable; concentrate on my actual point please), it would be very hard to bring back that specific feel of D1.
HOWEVER, i am NOT saying that that's something negative. Diablo III will very likely have the highest quality gameplay out of the three, and the `feeling of D1' i am talking about is merely one part of what made the series what they are, plus it is subjective. So once again, i am NOT trying to say that D3 is `not Diablo anymore' or that it will be bad in any way. Some of the older fans will simply miss some specific aspects that have made a part of the previous series.
My point on this topic is that they should accept the above (For a third time: It's NOT something negative.), instead of continuously making up things like whatever he tried to say this time. (Seriously, they come up with something new each time. =P)
i totally think like you. Really i would sleep with a peace in mind if they said
"yeah, we are going for a more cartoony art, but not too much, we think it will be great."
Then it just looks like they really settle up, and we can live further than that discussion.
I Wouldn't mind, just admit the damn thing.
It looks kinda they wan't to say it, but don't use the words, coz people will just "OMG HE SAID CARTOON LETS KILL HIM" and get mad, but no point at all to fear that, we will all buy d3 anyway.
We will probably pay in advance and download it from Blizz store, like those Pre-downloads, just waiting for our cd-keys to play. -

but i'm not a fan either of a second life thing, that is too boring and casual.
know what i liked about wow? BG. cause more than just killing, we had to get some team play going, and well, i love CTF, lol. (only play that on quake)
so, if they made something like that... you know, like the need of the team playing, and that i could do it for xp and weapons... oh heck, if i could play wow from lvl 10 to 85 just in bg, and i have a progression similar to those who just go by killing everyone and doing quests, i would be playing wow till today.
not sure if that is their idea, but just telling you guys of what i would like to have.
specially coz i don't have so much time to play everyday. but i enjoy getting in sometimes and HAVING FUN (not being totally crushed by the others) - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

but i thought of something that i think it would be nice.
on gems/runes customization on WEAPONS, it could add things not only magically, but also, aesthetically to weapons.
like: you add a JEWEL that gives the weapon the prefix GREATLY, than, it would increase it's size in game.
or you put a rune that gives Cold dmg on a sword, and then, your plain old steel sword would change to something that looks like a cross with the crystal swords' blade, so it feels icy*
not all runes/gems/jewels have to do something physacally to the weapon.
but i think it would be nice, and go with your item drop level.

just a small question.
when was the last time you built your own pc? or did any research about the subject?
not to say that ati or nvidia is better, both are great nowadays( I REALLY MEAN IT), just get what you think it's worth paying for.
the question is just to know how old are you and how long have you been dealing with that.
(i expect that you are older than 20 years, and know what a Riva TNT was...)
in exception about processors (clearly intel has the lead since c2d, meron right ?) everything you choose is based on preferences, small things, and specially, money.
if the discussion is not directed, or you don't know deeply what you want from a computer (and by that i mean about technical specs of components)
you are usually ok with any choice, if you can pay for it.
although with nvidia i have some preferences about the card's factory. it's just me being nit picky.

just more informative reading to you guys on what's coming up...

They get a big "help" when coding, and can make specific program calls for specific cards/drivers.
Some games really run better on Nvidia or ATI, some years ago, the difference in some games were huge, and people were speculating that nvidia had payed the softhouses to hurt ati, with nvidia always winning on some, and ATi on others.
There was great discussion at time, but ati came with a great hardware(x1k), and nobody could deny it anymore.
nowadays it's much more streamlined, and specially blizzard, they've never done anything that could hurt ATI users. it really won't matter the platform. it's just matter of preference.
i am an ATI fan myself.
but blizzard won't give any preference over nvidia.

so what i said, with a tv on a 1080p, an ati 4890 will do JUST FINE, you will have some spare room right there.
and what i said about crossfire i keep. you don't need a crossfire motherboard to put a x2.
but you need a crossfire motherboard to put two x2, (or two 4890)
i think x2 cards have a greater value, than buying two cards.
and that extra pcie x16 slot cost at least 40 bucks more on your motherboard. i don't think it is worth it.
that is just what i'm trying to say. you will be perfectly fine with only one pcie x16 slot. don't need a crossfire motherboard with 2, 3 or 4 pcie slots.
think about that. you shave off 40 bucks here, then 40 there, then 20 bucks more...
that won't have a huge impact on the performance of the pc, but will get an overall greater bang for buck. that's the whole science of making a gaming pc. Just spending 5k on an alienware is not why we do so many researches and reading about hardware and software benchmarking. we are all trying to get the best out of our money.

actually, i can't disagree with you that FORCING to be online to do anything, is very sad.
but i will wait and see what happens before whining. Which by the way i feel is every consumer's right to whine and demand a better product, but, i'm hoping it won't end up being too intrusive and bad, i'm pretty much in a "wait and see" stance.
i totally understand not being able to have your friends list (DUH) and ranked achievements (DUH) without being online.
but if we get into not being able to play without a "first online activation" like windows, then... i guess i will have to do something else besides playing d3.

Just something...
TVs res. is quite different from Pc Monitor res.
dedicated Pc Monitors have way higher resolution. think about DPI.
nowadays, FULL HD 1080p tvs, do 1920x1080 lines.
a nice 26 inch lcd screen goes with 16:10 aspec ratio goes 1920x1200...
a very cool 30 inch lcd screen goes up to 2560?1600 that's way higher than any full hd tv. Doesn't matter if the tv goes to 60 inches, it won't go further than 1920x1080 anytime soon. So stay with that in mind.
Also, as the DPI decreases if the screen size goes up, it may not look very cool.
also, with up to 32 inches LCD TV, you hardly get anything more than 720p , which is 1280x 720.
so unless you buy a big apple cinema display, or those wonderfull dell 30 inches monitors, you don't need anything too overkill to run it max.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Display_resolution <- some reading.
i would say a nice 4890 will run fine any FULL HD TV or any monitor up to 26-28 inches.
but like i said:
http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/1532355/radeon-58xx-pricing-leaked
so expect a price drop on 4890, or you could go with a 5850 if you want.
it is probably cooler and sucks less energy.
i keep my thinking that, if you don't intend to buy a cross fire rig NOW, do not bother with that.
maybe, in one year, it will be better to just buy a new gen that does more than double what you already do, than look for an old card that maybe, doesn't even sells anymore, and it's not half the price of the new one.
also. keep in mind that putting 2 cards in cross fire, doesn't allways yields double the performance, usually it's just a 60% increase.

As far as i know, scII will require an online connection to play single player with all the balls
(this means probably, you won't get any achievements if you are not connected, and you won't be able to see your friends' list.)
probably that goes to diablo 3 too. no achievements and friends' list without net.
i'm not sure about installing though...
sorry but i disagree. unles they have everything already set on stone, just waiting to put in the game, ok.
but we still have the whole balancing thing, and the beta. and it's not like "yay it's ready let's ship tomorrow".
there is the whole process of rating the game, burnin the dvds(although i really think about just downloading from b.net), shipping, party release...
and there is probably a 3 month beta first, at least..
imagine... the process of rating -> shipping take 2 months. Ok they can start it in the middle of the beta...(at least the rating)
"4 months" right there that disappeared. that means that for a december release, they have less than a year...
there is still a class to finish, we don't even know how that is going.
unless they have already everything important set on stone, like lore, quests, spells, general enviroment idea, ITEMS(big thing)... if now is just "yay let's do the programming and the rest of 3d assets!" then i can see it happening.
but i don't think so, although i wish i could get it next year. i really wish.

Fans will be delighted to know that the game looks and plays much like the first, obviously with better graphics, new foes and new classes. But the heart of the first Diablo games is still there and it all feels very familiar.
that's the best thing i've read so far...
i want to kill people d1 style with kickass graphics and d2 moves. or better.

scII was delayed to q1 2010 and they've said that we would see 2 releases next yr right ?
but unless they release the 5th class soon, i don't think there will be D3 next year, sadly will be that cataclysm thing.
i would totally trade scII and CATA to d3, anytime.
diablo for me has way more replayablity then both, in a sense that i don't get bored anytime soon with diablo.
but that's just me... we know that's not true for them.
i just wish we get half the attention from blizzard wow is getting with d3, even if they charge a whole 50 bucks for an exp pack(but a beefy one).
one thing, i just wish they announce the new MMO, i'm very curious. Wow announcements do nothing.

i had a big problem with D2, at first, i thought it was too awkward and hard to play, i quitted. yr after i came back and tried again, it still was not as fun...
then i thried again some months later, and i FINALLY learned hwo to play d2, then few years of fun!
i went back to d1, and, wow, so different, i thought it was impossible but i'm getting the hang of it again.
one thing i miss though... BOOKS OF MAGIC.
was great to have a warrior that knows his firebolt and some chain lightning.
maybe they could mix stuff on d3.
have skills, and then, some books of magic... some simple stuff.everyone should know some basic skills in magic when dealing with monsters. I miss that alot. but again, it was a big unbalanced thing.
if you started as a sorc, and had the lucky to see many bookshelves on the first 2 lvls, you would just pwn everything...
then again, i think d1 is a whole different game. d2 appeals to a broader audience, (the whole run/ slaughterfest thing) but i like it also.
d2 is much more a fun at anytime for me.
d1 is much more like chess to me.
i like both.
just wish we could have more synergies in d2 so all that useless skills have some use and i could make very wierd builds.

that's just overkill right there. Unless you are a overclock fanatic, the price on top of a top black edition phenom isn't worth that much.
you could go with a 955 instead of a 965 amd.
40 bucks less, and you still have all the good stuff from 965 (that isn't on 940)
also, ATi is about to realease series 5k video cards, right after win 7...
so, wait just a bit!
... do not overclock if you don't even know what you are doing, i mean really, if you never heard about CAS Latency, then, just stay away from going "omg overclocking"
also, if you do not intend of going crossfire SOON, don't even bother about buying a crossfire board.
just pick on up with a crossfire enabled chipset and you stick that x2 into it.
i think lot of stuff there is just overkill. unless you have a 30 inch LCD monitor with a very high res.
you could buy a cheaper but still good mobo for 60 bucks less.. a cheaper processor , 40 bucks less...
wait for new video cards... the prices would drop all over.
the only thing that i say: get the good one, really: a PSU.
having a good psu (not talking about power, talking about eff. and how stable it deals with the currents) is really a must.
but if you are going to build that to d3... unless you wanna play crysis tomorrow... stay cool and wait.
nowadays i'm really into "making the best with the lowest power consumption and size possible"
if i can i allways go with mini-ATX boards and cases, smaller videocards, smaller psu...
my only wish right now is to have a netbook that can play scII ok
(which i will buy, both, when avalible)
no more big messy hot power sucker desktop towers with me, don't want to play crysis.
