Why not have a companion? I do believe that Rangers are commonly depicted as having an animal companion... And what's wrong with having similarities to the Amazon's Valkyrie? (Not that there are any) If the ranger has summoning skills, I would believe that they would be more similar to the Druid's summoning skills than anything else.

Except that a druid has the ability to summon multiple entities, that isn't going to be the case on any class save those that are "summoning classes". I don't think anyone would call the amazon a summoning class for it's ability to conjure a Valkyrie. "Why not have a companion?" I'm not against it, I just don't think it's going to be the case, if you think so then by all means have fun with that. Hell, you can think D3 is gonna be released this year if you want to, if anyone tries to stop you it won't be me.

The class won't use traps and will likely avoid a "companion" (psh) type to avoid similarities to the Valkyrie the amazon summons.

Why Hello, Mr Obvious, so nice of you to join us! Just as a little tip, it's typically a good idea to read at least a little bit of the thread you're on before posting yourself...

Yes, it will likely be a ranged class, a ranger to be more precise. Likely a bow user, with some melee skills, traps, and summoning skills.

What's to read? My point is this thread is pointless as we are all aware of what the remaining class will be like...

The fifth class is going to be ranged. Not only just ranged, it will be a bow user. Essentially an amazon but tweaked just enough that it can be called something different. I don't find this to be a problem really, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

It's been 20 years since he fought the primes, he's probably gotten rusty. Cut him some slack, sheesh!

    Pretty much.

Based on absolutely no reasoning of any kind what-so-ever, I think S/S barbs will be the only ones effective in PVP play.

8 players I can't see why not, it worked before. Give the option to the person making the game how many players they want to allow in, that way you can have anywhere between 1-8, everyone wins.

OK, i'll `hop on the artstyle bandwagon' once more. :P

Say whatever you want but, with the general graphical structure of D3, which utilizes especially very bright and colerful skills (including Barbarian (physical) skills), and the general big=strong=epic=GOOD and mature=gore=BLOOD philosophy (i admit that i am exaggerating; bias is inevitable; concentrate on my actual point please), it would be very hard to bring back that specific feel of D1.

I think it's important to mention that not all of the atmosphere of the first two Diablos was visual, not that you're saying it is, the music of D1 in Tristram was the bleakest sound I'd ever heard, and probably still is. I hope they'll keep the sound track simple and depressively dark and evil like that. No huge Lord of the Ringsish symphonies WoW style.

I think I'd just like an expansion pack or two for Diablo III before we even start thinking about IV ;)

Yeah, I'd like to see multiple expansions for Diablo like they've done with WoW, I think though that WoW has preference over Diablo many times over. I can dream though.

It's going to be a ranged class, all there is to it really. We'll see the Paladinesque character in the expansion.
