Yeah actually. I wonder if they're still keeping that disembodied mechanic I remember reading on the forums about before. Like after they take a number of damage they lose a part of themselves. Only for bosses at least. Plus the critical damage that you deal will have blood sprayed all over your character.

Yeah, I just can't see that design though in black. The grey works better. Especially with the red. If you have black it just makes the red look too bright and painful to the eyes. Grey kinda evens it out don't you think?

Yeah, but health globes just drop when they die. So if they aren't dead yet, without potions.. You're still screwed, lol.

Well having played god of war i can say that health globes work pretty well and make potions almost useless.
Actually, I wouldn't say the Health Globes create potions to be useless. Since I don't think the Bosses will be spawning creeps. Thus once all the creeps are out, all you got is that one big mean boss. Now without any health globes to restore your hp. You got to rely on those potions. The cool thing though which Blizz did to balance out potion spamming to the health globes is also create the potions to have a cool down time. Also, IMO, that reduces the amount of space you'll be using for something almost unnessesary. I remember how much space potions would take in D2. Man that was annoying! But during that time all you had to do was potion spam.

For all intents and purposes. To hell with dinky Forest Rangers who live in trees and command woodpeckers. Any Ranger or Hunter character would be much better off with an art style more in line with the Assassin, because if you think about it, a bow is the logical Assassin weapon. It's the closest thing you can get in Diablo to being a sniper.

In fact, that would be an OK name for the class.

Sniper- except brings to mind the rifle
Marksman- I like this name but there's a woman as well
Hunter- still too close to Bird Catcher
    Sharpshooter- meh

I can't think of a good one...Assassin makes the most sense. You can keep some of the gadget-themed skills and the poison skills from D2, and then remake the character. It's a bow expert who can also use small blades effectively, and with good poison skills.

Kind of like a hunter but without the nature theme, so you could still throw traps in there, no summons, just all kinds of trick arrows, poison skills for arrows and other weapons, some character-themed support skills like the W. Doctor's spirit tree, etc.

I don't think it would come back. Not the same as the old one maybe. A lot of people want the old D2 Characters back. But I don't think, even if they do come back, they'll be the same as in D2. They may be better or worse. Better? You'll be happy. Worse? More complaints. The rest may come back as NPCs in the initial release or playable in the Expansion. It was already announced that the only returning Playable Character from D2 is the Barbarian.

Just accept they're gone and if they do come back they won't be the same either.

Some body say the monk will replacing paladin, but I want a thing that I havent seen yet : aura !!! A great idea in d2.

Aura bring a cooperative gameplay and it's make many many possibility of build. Seriously I hope that all characters got aura otherwise I want a character for that !!

The fun with aura is : you can mix the skill you want with it. But the real fun is to manage static stats skills with pourcent stat skills, both of them make great result in the end of the game only because of %.

What are you thinking about that ??

Auras were good, but if they're coming back I wouldn't think they HAVE to be for a Paladin esque class. Auras could go to any class. I see Auras as a skill that represents Leadership more than Holiness.

It would be nice to see them back but way more balanced and less game breaking. Plus Blizzard is focusing to make the game more cooperative in Multiplayer. So the Auras would be a good feature to keep.

But I don't think the Paladin is coming back in this release. You could hope for the expansion. I just read in the Blizz Tracker that someone asked "Where's the Paladin?" Bashiok replied "In Diablo 2".

But just like the above poster, they would make a lot of changes to the Paladin and Monk if ever they're releasing it in the expansion. They want every Archetype to be unique. So it may not even be the same as the Paladin of D2. Which I'm expecting a whole lot of complaints by the people who actually loved the D2 Characters. We could all hope they'd come back, but with this new line up. I'd doubt they'd even be the same if ever they do come back.

I love this idea. I think the character would be cool if it looked like the Assassin's Creed character, but with more dark features instead of lighter.

Yeah like a darker shade of Gray rather than the White/Silver he's got on. The red is just great. The brown is also good. Just a darker shade of gray would work with the design actually.

posted a message on Discussion: The last class is NOT a ranged class
    Quote from "OathofChaos" »
Okay, I've read a lot of threads saying that the last class will be some sort of Rogue // Amazon type thing.

The whole point of this thread is to discuss how it won't be (or for you to prove me wrong). I will be using logic and citations to prove my case. Please be mature and discuss rationally.

We've seen several archetypes thus far in what Blizzard has released:
~Barbarian - Sword and Shield type pure Melee warrior
~Witch Doctor - Enemy Manipulation, Damage over Time, and minion creator
    ~Wizard - Pure caster
    ~Monk - Speed Powerhouse

    And Damage Archetypes being;
    ~Pure Strong Melee (Barbarian)
    ~Disease and Fire (Witch Doctor)
    ~Lightning, Arcane, Cold (Wizard)
~Holy and Fast, Weaker Melee (Monk)

Now, if you've seen any of the gameplay footage, we all know that each class can hold its own in both short and long range battles. Even the Barbarian uses Ground Slam and Leap Attack, and the Wizard uses something similar to Arcane Explosion.
    Barbarian Gameplay Video
    Witch Doctor Gameplay Video
    Wizard Gameplay Video
    Monk Gameplay Video

Being that each class is capable of decimating its opponent at all ranges, we can safely assume that the last class will be able to do that very same thing. Based on this strand of logic, the last class cannot be a pure ranged class.

So, now that I've finally laid my claim, I challenge you all to an honest debate as to why I'm wrong.

Well, it was mentioned that the last class was the most developed and re-imagined class. It could be a class that's mainly about ranged weaponry but has melee abilities to balance him out with the rest.

But there's a draw back to that. At least something that maybe no one else except Blizzard can pull off. Creating such a class into a magnificent, creative and powerful class that can match up or go above the other classes.

So it could also hold its own in melee fights. I agree with your logic. Every class is capable of holding their own in any fight, but they still have weaknesses. There's already a speed powerhouse, though you're forgetting that the monk isn't weak in damage. He's powerful and deals a lot of damage, but he can't take as much as the Barb. Just to point out. If you watch the interview videos about the Monk they'll mention he's powerful but he just can't take that many hits.

With that down I would go with the hunter, but not so much into speed. Possibly a class that also uses heavy armor. I think that's what's lacking. Maybe leather armor. But is proficient in bows, etc. The standard ranged weapons. But also using a unique melee weapon.

A name? The warden would suit that class. If its all leather then a Bard or a Hunter. Maybe a Bounty Hunter kind of name. We already have a tank so I wouldn't think the 5th class would take the tank role. Blizzard mentioned that the Barb is the tank.

Seems that they're also lacking the Ice Element and Earth Element, based on your info. This new class could use those two elements. The WD uses Fire and Disease (Poison), the Wizard uses Lightning and Arcane, the Monk uses Holy, Strength and Speed, the Barb uses Brute Strength. If not Earth could also be nature. Since the Barb's attack closely resemble earth quality elements. So it may look similar and Blizzard doesn't want that, they want them all to be unique and if they give you the Archetype name you can easily know what they can do.

Hellfire was made by Sierra though.

They must have been fans of D1. Isn't Sierra a Publisher like EA? They don't make their own games.. I think.. Well.. EA is a mega company thus they do make their own games but.. I didn't know Sierra did.

Why? I thought we wanted to keep all things cartoony in WoW and SC. They have the graphics, but we'll get the bad jokes? Sounds too light for such a heavy and serious game like Diablo. I loved that the humor you found in Diablo is that from your fellow players. Some of the best times I had is sitting in town talking, or in channel. /f m was probably the funnest thing ever.

    But I digress.

Any others upset about the no paladin-like class, or happy about it? And why?

I don't think Blizzard would even do it. Its just one of those ideas you wish would happen, but you know it never would. So you end up making jokes about em. I think you'll enjoy your chats in town more now, since.. Well no details out about it except that it was announced a long time ago.. Was that they'll have some kind of in game market. Since they're improving the need for gold. Thus why there are actually health globes instead of potion spamming. So, now you'll have more people to talk to.
