Yea a lone warrior type of character is what im hoping for next too.

Like a Warden maybe? Or some thief from the slums? Maybe a robin hood esque character?

Sorry, I should have asked if they had said anything about the Bard.

There was a bard? I never tried Hellfire so I don't know about the classes there.

To clarify, I didn't mean each tree should have a summon but in one tree each branch(column) would be one summon and skills that modify/improve it. Essentially the player would probably choose one of the three and build it up with passive skills in its column.

I just like the idea of having 1 strong summon instead of a bunch of smaller/weaker summons like the necro and druid had in D2.

Ah, yeah a strong summon is better. Especially for the ranger.

    I like d2 pally
    i like wow pally

i dont like anything to do with wow in diablo. wow stole the pally and if they didnt then there would have been a much greater chance of getting a pally in d3.

edit: also where is teh source that the monk is a holy character or with holy damage. They have a 1001 differetn gods so the heavens would be like 1 god?

Holy Character in Diablo? Check the Diablo 3 Site's character pages. It says there. In real life I think their god is Buddha, if its Shaolin. I'm not sure, but it seems the D3 Monk is close to the Shaolin Monk.

I think the Inquisitor sounds cooler. He seems more like a hooded/cloaked/mysterious Holy Knight/Warrior kind of person. A person who could instill fear into creatures that don't generally know such a thing. That's what the name brings upon for me. The Crusader/Templar/Paladin brings the regular holy knight image. Big Holy Warriors in Metal Clad Armor with a Shield and a Sword. I just don't find it as cool though. Its more like a protector. I don't normally go with the Protector/Tank role. The Inquisitor though is someone who could just kill then and there. That's just my opinion.

a monk is not a re-imagination of the Paladin. I think its actually a failure to the Paladin.

I dare to disagree with the Monk being a failure to the Paladin. I agree that it isn't a re-imagination of the Paladin. The only similarity they have is that they are holy men. The Monk is a different form of a Holy Man. So I wouldn't count it as a failure, but a different character instead. The Paladin is a western/middle eastern Holy Knight. Someone who prefers armor and strength over speed. The Monk however is tailored for the East. Preferring strength and speed over cumbersome armor. Though in real life, they are fast but they are also in a way.. A living tank. (Iron Body Training)

I don't think we need a spear/polearm class since the monk uses them already(even if his are a bit different than what we've seen previously).

What I would like to see would be a class with a bow skill tree that is more interesting than the amazon's was. It'd be nice to see the arrows take shapes other than normal arrows(i.e. shoot a jet of fire or an arrow that breaks into multiple smaller projectiles, etc.).

I'd also like to see the ranged class have a skill tree focused on whips for some medium range fighting. The third skill tree could be summon based but more about having one powerful tank summon instead of a mob of critters. Maybe have each branch of the skill tree focus on a different summon(but still only allow 1 active at a time).
That would be nice, but I don't think each tree should have its own summon. That would be plain redundant. Especially since if you have at least 5 points used in 1 tree you can get the skills from the other trees. Well that's how the skill trees work as of now.

They don't have to use all weapons from D2. They used claws, which is from the expansion, which means that they can skip either bow/crossbow or spear/javelin. I'd be fine with either one.

Yeah. Right now though, what's on my head is.. How exactly will Blizzard make this 5th class that's been constantly redesigned, match up or go beyond the power of the already mentioned 4 classes. What I see lacking in the ranged class is AoE. He's an archer, he could use Arrow Rain and such. But its over used, not a problem. But nor is it creative. Something new would be cool. There are many options. Plus I think what's missing is someone who can strike fast and deadly, but isn't confrontational like the Monk or the Barbarian. What I wanna bring out for this idea would be the thief. Its been mentioned a lot but I wanna bring out my idea of it.

He uses daggers, knives/throwing knives or crossbow.
    Fast and sneaky
1 form of an ability for AoE he'd have is a shrapnel bomb.
Instead of having elemental damage. He's purely physical like the barbarian. But as I said not as confrontational.
Preferring to attack from the back or from a distance.

I didn't really give myself much time on creating a character, so I'm leaving it at that. Those are just my ideas. I'm not trying to dispell ideas of having an archer. But more of just asking the question, what can we add to the Archer/Thief or any class that is not as confrontational as the barbarian to make them stronger and deadlier than the other 4 classes? The barbarian now has deadly aoes that match to his strength. But the 5th class isn't about strength. Its about speed and being sneaky, striking from afar or from behind. Those kind of things. Well at least that's where many of our ideas are going to right now.

Oh! I just had an idea! Instead of the abilities being the AoE, but more of the weapon. Most of the AoEs are because of the abilities. Like the stomp of the barbarian or the exploding palm of the Monk. What about the 5th class having the weapon of Kratos? Something that could extend really far and move like a whip but is more like a sword. Its the class' weapon but its only extended whenever he uses his abilities.

The character could instead use a wheel. Throwing it like captain america does with his shield. He could use it both in Melee or Ranged. In melee it rotates in place on his arm or he just holds it and uses it to cut his enemies. But when he uses it for ranged he throws it around. Which also attacks his enemies twice. Also you could attach a chain to it. So that it would always come back whenever you move around. I have so many ideas I can't stop editing, lol.

Or they could just call it ranger, hunter, or warden its seriously not that big of a deal. We already have a Wizard and Barbarian which are also overused names it games.

Very true, but what I'm more of pointing out is what name exactly would be fitting for the Diablo Universe. I know all those names are overused, lol. Ranger would be cool, but with a dark historic setting. Something about his past that made him join the cause to fight the forces of the Burning Hell. Bounty Hunter well pretty much that's self explanatory. Warden too.

    Quote from "emilemil1" »
Uhm... Are you aware of this new class called the Barbarian...

Actually what's missing is the spear/javelin. I think the warden would fit perfectly for that. Though the Barbarian is already the tank. So the name would be in a way conflicting. The Monk uses a stave which is totally different from a Spear/Javelin. Its more like a armed staff. Is either like a double mace or has blades in them. Just to clarify that with people.

I'd love to see a class similar to Warhammer Onlines "Witch Hunter". I feel the creative minds at blizzard could make a very deep and well thought out class around that general idea, plus it meshes well with the Diablo universe.

Only thing that would need to be implemented would be Guns, because that class doesn't rely on bows. Crossbows + Guns would be the two physical ranged weapon choices and daggers , swords, throwing knives and perhaps a unique witch hunter only weapon (ex: assassin weapons in d2) which in my eyes would be some sort of wrist blade.

I was thinking of the same thing. They might call it the Hell Hunter or FelHunter or well something close to that. A bounty hunter esque for a ranged class sounds fitting for the world of Sanctuary. You could have traps, possibly bombs too for AoE.
