That way, with the better gear you find, the difficulty of inferno increases and the better drops you can get.Posted in: News

The people whining about these changes are the same ones who would say: "Inferno is just too easy, give us more end-game content" if they left it how it was.
Besides, under the old system, everyone would play until someone found the easiest spot to farm and then everyone would stop there and farm. If it was in Act I, no one would play any further than act I. This way, there is incentive for playing all the way through inferno.
If you're saying that people would whine over how it was before, that it would be too easy. Whyyyy would they make it even easier then?
You're saying that people would find the best spot to farm, how would they do that if they haven't tried the other acts? Also there will never be "the most awesome place ever to farm", more like 1 tiny better place than the others. So only bots would run that one place all the time. So there's already enough incentive(if thats needed) to go through the other acts.
How would people find the best spot to farm? Google. It won't happen on release day, but after a couple weeks people will know the best spots.
The best spots to farm would be somewhere close to a waypoint where there are likely champion mobs (Nephalem Valor) and also close to a boss. See I haven't even played the beta and I know the best places to farm in Inferno.
EDIT: I forgot, they only said the beginning would be easier. I'm sure the OVERALL difficulty of inferno was actually harder than before. -

Actually, the way it was set up before, Inferno would actually get easier the further you got. Not because of monster level increasing, but you will find better equipment as you go. So technically this is an Inferno buff because now it gets harder as you progress. -
Mar 30, 2012Jack_in_the_box posted a message on Inferno Monster Levels No Longer Linear, More Fansite Q&A, Bashiok on Runes, Blizzard FacebookI for one am excited about these changes. Hopefully acts III and IV will be so difficult that farming those areas won't be a viable option for a long time.Posted in: News
Also: No diminishing returns on magic find. I'm cool with that. -

yay people can stop QQing about build devotion/hot swapping on the go and boss loot. hooo-fucking-ra. praise the diablo gods
Its a band aid solution that fixes nothing.
Some level of permanency shouldn't need to be encouraged, it should just be.
This changes almost nothing on that regard. I'm not saying its not nice to have, but its not even a solution to that at all.
Agreed, removing permanent choices takes away all meaningful decision making in game. Though I still like this idea to encourage prevent boss farming. -
Mar 21, 2012Jack_in_the_box posted a message on Nephalem Valor BuffThey should have it stack as a percent. For example you kill one mob and get +10% Valor. Once you have any it slowly diminishes over time like 1% over 3 minutes. This would encourage you to not only have a build for maximum damage, but also survivability and it encourages you to stay in combat and not run back to town. It also would mean that at 100% Valor it would take several hours for it to go away completely, but if you kill another special mob you can boost it back up to 100%. Not having played inferno I don't know how viable the numbers here would be but you get the idea.Posted in: News

Jan 19, 2012Jack_in_the_box posted a message on System ChangesI think the removal of certain systems will actually help get this game out faster. Initially there is a bit of work to get the replacement systems in place, but when it comes to final polishing there will be less systems to balance.Posted in: News

Mar 5, 2010Jack_in_the_box posted a message on 1.13's Final DaysI hope with the release of b.net 2.0 to the masses Diablo 2 will also get a major update. A lot of the limitations with content and such come from the old battle.net. I'm no computer programmer but I think that a major update in the online services could mean a major update for Diablo 2, without the limitations of the current battle.net.Posted in: News
Don't flame me for ignorance, maybe they have announced that the old battle.net will remain for legacy titles and they won't all go to b.net 2.0. -
Dec 11, 2009Jack_in_the_box posted a message on The Wait is Over -- PTR Patch 1.13People are complaining??? Seriously?Posted in: News
Any other company would have stopped patching and balancing 3-5 years ago. Most companies do not put legacy teams on games that are 10 years old. Not only that but Blizzard has a sequel in the works and they are still improving D2.
Plus being disappointed about a patch that is still in public testing is lame. Its not even final yet.
Blizzard makes no money (maybe from that ad banner) from battle.net play and a new patch isn't attracting a whole lot of people to purchase the game. And those who do are only paying $20.
I guess what I'm saying is, if you want more content, wait for D3. -

-Max auction values (capping all auction items at a specific $ amount)
-More endgame content that is item dependent (something like D2 ubers)
-Difficulty of farming

Is ^^this true? I'm looking to buy a laptop before the game releases but I would like to play at better than low settings. I've also posted some specs on my desktop, although I can't remember them all, I built the thing 4 years ago. It's a little dated but runs SC2 on high just fine.
Potential Laptop: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152308
Desktop Specs
Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz
GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB GDDR3
6 GB OCZ Reaper DDR2 SDRAM
80 GB WD Caviar harddrive
500 GB WD harddrive
How will these two computers run this game?

Is it possible to have a game and lock it so that others cannot join? That would prevent people from joining games that are just a couple of buddies playing together.

OP asked if you need a group to MF. Answer is no, BUT...
The BEST way to MF would be to find a group of friends and pool the items. Random groups may get you through mobs faster, but no one is likely to share. I think that is still better than soloing because you can get through mobs faster.
Its a toss of the dice whether or not the group MF is better than your personal MF. I would say if you're personal MF is much higher than the groups, it is better to solo.
(Funny, after re-reading my post I substituted another phrase for MF besides magic find. It was much more entertaining.)

However the benefit of a group is that each monster essentially has a drop for each player. Which means the more people in the game, the more loot to drop. The more loot that drops, the odds of finding the best items increases.
The only downside is the difficulty bump for larger groups.
