Wagering in-game gold would not be considered gambling. In-game items are not redeemable for cash and have no REAL value. That's why in the long legal stuff you have to read before installing the game it says that all in game items are Blizzards property or something like that.

I doubt wagering would make it an Esport. I think it could make some PvP games more interesting and competitive which would be fun. It could just be one of the matchmaking options and there would be lots of games without a pot. Doing items would be overly unless its 1v1. How do you divide the items or decide which items are acceptable wagers.

WOAH WOAH WOAH! How dare you use common sense in here! Also you are saying OPTIONS....OPTIONS ARE GOOD?! What the hell is wrong with you? Seriously people, wagering items and gold is exactly what Diablo should be about. Sad you kids who think this makes it an esport or makes it illegal gambling are the ones calling the shots ha.

You sir are excellent at sarcasm.

Been playing beta a lot lately, and I think that some skills shouldnt have time limits. For instance... the Barbs ground stomp...very useful but frustrating having to wait 30secs everytime to use it. My suggestion would be to make it a fury generator which only stuns opponents when fury is completely full only causing damage until it maxes. I think this would work well for a lot of skills. When fury is maxed you get the best results.

Another idea: add a salvage all button at the blacksmith and give him the repairs job back... makes 0 sense to do this a a vendor who sells crap. It'd be nice to go to a vendor and see something you could use once and a while too. And maybe its been talked about b4, but why is there no gambling? This missing feature needs to find its way back into the game...and again with a "chance" of getting a really good item and not just crap.

Lastly, does anyone have a clue as to when the community site might update the items page??? Seems to be a huge empty feeling for me at least to see so much of the content, but nothing useful on items.

"Gambling" items ala D2 that you can sell for real $$$ could present a whole new set of legal questions surrounding the game.

How is gambling with in-game gold any different than killing a monster to get an item? Gambling at a vendor: X% chance of receiving legendary item. Killing a boss: X% chance of legendary item drop. Both can be sold for real money.

yay people can stop QQing about build devotion/hot swapping on the go and boss loot. hooo-fucking-ra. praise the diablo gods

Its a band aid solution that fixes nothing.

Some level of permanency shouldn't need to be encouraged, it should just be.

This changes almost nothing on that regard. I'm not saying its not nice to have, but its not even a solution to that at all.

Agreed, removing permanent choices takes away all meaningful decision making in game. Though I still like this idea to encourage prevent boss farming.

They should have it stack as a percent. For example you kill one mob and get +10% Valor. Once you have any it slowly diminishes over time like 1% over 3 minutes. This would encourage you to not only have a build for maximum damage, but also survivability and it encourages you to stay in combat and not run back to town. It also would mean that at 100% Valor it would take several hours for it to go away completely, but if you kill another special mob you can boost it back up to 100%. Not having played inferno I don't know how viable the numbers here would be but you get the idea.

I could see them announcing it on the same day ME3 comes out. Leave it to Activision to piss on the competitors big release day.

If they are selecting 25 keys from this contest, right now every participant has a 0.7% chance of winning. 141:1 odds.

Not good. According to http://funny2.com/odds.htm, you are more likely to get on a plane with a drunk pilot than to win this contest. Just saying.

    dude what?
right now there are 3545 replies in the contest thread (assuming those are all valid entries into the contest).
50 keys up for grabs (unless i misunderstood something? where did you get 25 from?)

    50/3545
    .014% chance of whinning
odds are about 7100 to 1
according to your link thats about the same as "Odds of being considered as Possessed buy Satan: 7000:1
    "

and i suppose thats technically correct as if you do get a beta key im sure all your time will be possessed by Diablo.

    Your maths are wrong.

I thought it was 25 keys, but if its 50 keys that would make the odds 50:3500 or 1:70 which is 1.4%. Much better odds than being possessed by Satan.

    Critical Hit Barb

    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#WZfeUP!ZhV!cabcZb

This build relies on boosting up critical hits. Bloodshed and Slaughter runespells cause enemies to explode when critical hits are landed.

This relies heavily on +critical hit items.

Battle.net being ready is a huge step. When SC2 was in beta, the biggest problems and the reason the beta lasted for so long was B.net not working like it was supposed to.

It has to be getting close because I can't think of anything but polish left before release.

I know the blues really like the changes to the rune system, but what about the beta testers. Unfortunately, my internet doesn't reload fast enough for me to win a beta key, but do the testers feel the same way about the new changes? Just curious.

Whenever I look at other gaming sites (IGN, Joystiq, Kotaku, 1up, etc.) they never list Diablo 3 as one of the most anticipated games of 2012. Am I just ignorant or is the gaming community as a whole not excited for D3?

Diablo 3 will probably be my ONLY day 1 purchase this year. Its just weird.

I think the removal of certain systems will actually help get this game out faster. Initially there is a bit of work to get the replacement systems in place, but when it comes to final polishing there will be less systems to balance.

Here's hoping this means they will meet their "Early 2012" goal... but I'm a glass half full kind of guy.
