IE8 and I'm using Windows XP. I really don't want to do this, but I think I'm just gonna peek at the site from now on. There are some things that could use change, and some things that don't. The way the site was before was so much more user-friendly, to me anyways, and its change to this, for whatever reason, just blows my mind. For now, until this place gets a serious overhaul, I bid you guys and gals adieu.

What the heck happened to the site??? I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but I liked the site the way it was before. I can't see the avatars from people that have posted, although I can kinda see Seth's, urm Magistrate's, little hammy ears kinda bobble up from the void where his avy is supposed to be. Going to go back to bed and then wake up and see if this isn't some sort of weird dream...

Basically, being able to place Valk in certain places makes her, IMO, an invaluable asset. Case in point - while farming Andariel in Hell mode, having both the hired merc (Act 2, Nightmare Defense merc) and Valk double team her is usually the way it pans out for me. Under normal circumstances, my hired merc, whose armed with Woestave (unique Halberd), Etheral Duriel's Shell (unique Cuirass) and Blackhorn's Face (unique Death Mask) is there just to slow Andariel's attacks while the Valk draws her attention and I strafe and summon another Valk when the one facing her gets low on health. With 20 points in Valk and a few in Decoy to boost her HP, she can survive Andariel's assault long enough so that, if worst case scenario happens and Valk really takes a pounding, the cooldown on Valk expires and I can summon another Valk without placing myself in any danger. Also, if you can place the Valk in a position to where Andariel sprays only the Valk and not you and your merc, not only does it increase your chances of keeping the merc alive longer, but also increase the length of time the merc stays in the fight to keep Andariel slowed.

Most of the times, the merc does die, but by the time he does, the duration on the slow effect keeps Andariel's attacks from being as devastating as they can be until she goes down. On a couple of rare occasions, I have kept the merc alive without once having to heal him (although I did give him an Antidote potion once Andariel was dead). It's all on how you use the Valk, and mine has a HP total to the tune of over 3,000.

I could see perhaps not using the Valk in an Elemental build, but then you rely heavily on your merc, and he can fall very easily to uniques, super uniques and bosses which then leaves you to "run and gun" it. If you don't put points into Valk, I highly suggest then that you at least give consideration to Decoy.

On a slightly off topic side note - I've also considered giving an Impaler build a go using the Hwanin's Majesty set, since the weapon of the set is indestructible. I don't know if it's viable, but at least it'd be a fun thing to try sometime.

I have to agree on the body pillow. That thing looks epicly cool. In fact, if they were to put something like that up for sale, I'd buy two of them. One for my bed and one for my couch so me and a potential snuggle bunny can cuddle in relative comfort.

I got a good laugh out of the EPEEN as well. Honestly, I'm surprised people haven't made a real mod out of something like that - something that reminds those serial gamers that, even though they may suck at real life things, they can always go back to Azeroth and wallow in their fantasy life. So long as they don't neglect their children, other family members or pets to the point of death when playing, I won't wish upon them castrations with an olive fork.

Now as for SP or MP having better drops, I've heard people argue for both sides but I've yet to see evidence for any difference between the two..

I've got two things for runes dropping like flies in MP

Traveling with 4 people on Nightmare in MP, we had a Ko rune drop in Act 3 in the Kurast Bazaar with the average level at 47. The first time I ever saw a Ko rune on SP was in Hell difficulty at level 83, with the number of players augmented to 3, and it dropped from Eldritch the Rectifier...from 3 days worth of farming off of the bastard.

In that very same act in MP, but in the Durance, an Um rune dropped off of one of the Council Members. I haven't found an Um rune yet on SP in ANY DIFFICULTY! I'd probably earn a Darwin Award for getting drunk off of rubbing alcohol and licking an electrical outlet before I ever find something higher than a Ko rune. In fact.....

If my frustration level reaches that point, I may indeed see if it is possible to get drunk off of rubbing alcohol.

Balance issues are primarily the source of all SP aggravation. Fire enchanted monsters, undead exploding midgets, multiple immunes - I could go on but I'd rather just fantasize about castrating someone on the Dev team at Blizzard. That seems to relieve more stress than any other method.

The biggest issue I have with Diablo 2, though, is the balance issue between SP and MP. Why exclude rune words and gear from SP? And the rune drops....grrrrrrr. Case in point, I've ran with the Brotherhood of Destruction guild on-line and found runes and gear in Nightmare difficulty that I have trouble finding IN HELL DIFFICULTY WITH OVER 300% MAGIC FIND in SP! Someone please explain to me the reasoning for this. Why does Blizzard seemingly punish those who want to play SP by not granting them access to these things???

I understand your frustration and sympathize with you entirely. The only consolation I can give, however, is to listen to George Carlin for about an hour. Cures most of my stress-related issues.

I don't know about you guys, but seeing this kind of color combination makes me feel like I want to go on some sort of murderous, horrific, Hannibal Lector kinda killing spree.

Unicorn hamburgers, unicorn glue, and for a most fitting present, I'll take that 'Unihorn' and do something with it to something or someone else in a manner that'll make people like Jeffery Dahmer and Chrales Manson go...

"Now why didn't I think of doing that?"

Forgive me for being blunt, but annoyingly cute is still annoying.

I've always been able to be creative during the April Fool's day "event", but I think I know exactly how to brighten us fans up and keep Blizzard on their toes.

This year, if they joke about the fifth class.....or anything pertaining to Diablo 3 now that I think of it, I have the ultimate payback for some certain people in Blizzard Entertainment. I'll have the maintenance people switch out the sugar in the sugar containers and sugar packets with that of salt.

    That'll show 'em.

Not too many bosses are both fire and cold immune, so, in theory, the build should be fine. Moreover, the few bosses that you do find that are immune to those elements, you can revert back to Magic Arrow to whittle them down. Not only does it not cost you ammunition to use, but if you have an abundance of mana, or if you've invested in it enough to the point where it's mana cost becomes irrelevant, then the skill becomes invaluable. The best bow for this kind of build in the mid-game, and that's where I assume you are at level 45, is th unique Cedar Bow, Kuko Shukaku. Heavy on fire damage plus the Immo Arrow skill boost and Bow & Crossbow skill boosts make it a nice weapon. Either that, or Lycander's Aim if you're incredibly lucky enough to find it.

The two problems that I see with this build is spreading the points out between the two elements and your Passives. I always consider Valkyrie to be amazing, to the point where she can effectively take much more damage than your merc. However, to make her this effective requires spending a good amount of points in the respective fields. Decoy is awesome, too, as it lures out those enemies that aren't quite willing to show themselves unless something is in range. I've not experimented with elemental Amazons before, but it was my understanding that her most powerful elemental abilities had a cooldown period, whereas the usual Strafe build had no such restriction. Also, mana steal is crucial to Amazons as far as using their skills repeatedly and, as I have little knowledge of how elemental attacks may or may not steal mana, am not sure this might actually hinder you more than help you.

Let me know how this build works out for you. I'm quite interested in seeing how manageable and effective it is.

While this particular issue might be fixed, I want to see how long it'll take for the next similar issue to pop up in Blizzard's lap. I'd like to say that this is wonderful news, and there's no doubt that it could be, but I have this gut feeling that it's only a prelude for what's to come. People who want to cheat are going to find a way to cheat.

    posted a message on Rollbacks
When the Brotherhood of Destruction ran last night, we had frequent crashes. I think we attempted the second quest in Act 5 four times before finally being able to complete it. Also, during one of those attempts, I was given Gorefoot and equipped it. When it crashed, the boots wound up back in the givers inventory. We attributed it to the dupers being able to cause said rollbacks. It was annoying as all hell. However, we perservered and still had a blast doing that mindless clickery that is all-out bloodshed and carnage. And throwing jokes around while we were at it, like the following...

Question: "What are the runes for RW stealth?"

If its a pre existing character you must get to hell to get the points relocated.

Thank you for reducing my ignorance on this subject. It is indeed true that you must complete the Den of Evil quest in Hell mode to obtain relocation of skill and stat points. I was farming gear on Nightmare difficulty and wondered why I wasn't seeing it. Now, I know why.

    Thanks, Umpa! Long live Reptar!

Also, for those of us that play SP, the stat/skill point reset was not implemented to affect those wishing to play SP. Aside from all of the other points mentioned, this is my biggest gripe.
