posted a message on Diablo III in 2011?
    Quote from imlinked

If you take what Blizz said, word for word, it'd be anytime between 7/27/2010 (SC2's release) and 7/26/2011 (1 year time frame).

But, since the first SC2 expansion probably won't be released anytime this year, and the recent conference call didn't mention anything on D3 this year, I'd say if what Blizz said is true, D3 would be released sometime between Jan/June 2011.

If Diablo III is not released on June 29, 2011, I will be very surprised. Here's why: Diablo II and its expansion both came out on June 29, and Diablo III was announced at the Blizzard WWI which was held on June 28-30. It also falls within the time schedule you mentioned, pretty near to the end of it (which seems just right for Blizzard).

Also my uncle works at Blizzard and he told me loljk

Question: Won't the text then be displayed on all pages and on all templates, excluding the three to be used on the Charms (Diablo II) page? Also, with the current design, it's not a very practical solution, as two Affix List templates will be used for each item: one to display the prefixes, the other the suffixes, meaning the text will appear twice on each item page right next to each other.

Take a look at the template again--it ONLY shows up on a Prefix section, so as to keep it from appearing twice.

It's not going to be a mirror of the Arreat Summit; there are several features with how we're setting it up that make it far more user-friendly. The sortable lists are cool, but they're just too bulky and cumbersome. The page already exceeds the "recommended" size, and the suffixes haven't even been added yet.

The design you propose is exactly how Arreat Summit lists the affixes. Nothing we would have is any different than what is there. The sortable lists make it unique, and any modern web browser has a page-search function so length is a non-issue. Also, as someone who has a personal wiki of their own, I can tell you that the MediaWiki warning for size is irrelevant and is just a guideline.

If we merely provide a mirror of the info in the exact same format as the info is on Arreat Summit, what's the point? There's nothing wrong with being a little verbose with our presentation of this stuff. Personally, I think the way we have the table right now is the best, as it allows for sorting based on level, which I think is rather cool.

Looking good. It will need to be noted somewhere though that the ones listed in yellow are applicable to both rare and magic items, and the blues apply only to magic items. Otherwise it's rather ambiguous what the colors even mean. "Do the yellows only appear on rare items?"

Edit: OK. The Affix List template now includes a note about blue/yellow text only on the prefix section of non-charm item types. Item types excluded from this note are (case sensitive):
    charms
    Small Charms
    Large Charms
    Grand Charms

Ok, take a look at this:

    DiabloWiki.com - Axes_(Diablo_II) Axes_(Diablo_II)
    DiabloWiki.com - Template:Axe_Affixes_(Diablo_II) Template:Axe_Affixes_(Diablo_II)

The first page shows how it could be placed, and the second is the template, which shall of course be categorized etc. once we're sure if this is what we want. The two tables are also necessary since one table cannot both be sortable and collapsible.

    Thoughts?

This is exactly what I was reaching for, display-wise. As far as using templates goes, it seems to pretty much be the same thing as including the data directly, since the only place I could ever imagine having the 'Axe Affixes (Diablo II)' template being used is.. well, on the Axes page. But either way, it works fine and this display type (per-itemtype affixes) is the best for usability.

What will happen to the Affixes page? And how should I go about doing the Suffixes? The same way I did the prefixes?

Do you mean have (A) an affix listing on each individual item page for the types of affixes that could spawn on that item type, or (B) have a link on the item pages to the affix article itself?

Having show/hide is a great idea though, I think we should incorporate that.

Solution (A) is the most logical choice. Like you go to the Axe page and there are 2 subsections for Prefixes and Suffixes, and listed there would only be the affixes that can spawn on Axes. The list wouldn't be super long like on the main affix page (which is really intended to be a master list rather than something you'd usually want to go to for information). Most people would specifically want to know what can spawn on a certain item.

If you went with (B), there would have to be some serious wizardry involved with making it only show affixes that are applicable to the item page you came from.

Another solution, (C) could be a seperate page for each item type's affixes... This seems a bit messy and would just require another page for EVERY item type.

Sticking with a master list at Affixes, and then picking out the specific item type's affixes (as I did with the Jewels page as an example) would probably work best. Incorporating a show/hide on the tables to not clutter the page keeps it from becoming a case of Information Overload. But that's just my opinion.;)

Hello folks. I've been really busy and haven't had time to make up the suffix list yet, but I'll be working on it. My ideal goal was actually not to have the prefix and suffix page be the main part of this project, but rather to have a visibility-toggled list of prefixes and suffixes on each item type's page with only the applicable affixes that those items can spawn with. This way when you browse to Axes, there would be a seperate ToC entry for Prefixes and Suffixes. For instance, when you click on Prefixes: it takes you to them you can click 'Show' on the table, and it would have a list of only the prefixes which can spawn on Axes.

Of course, this is a wiki, so it's a group effort, but if you'd like me to do the suffixes up in a different format, let me know before I do it so I don't waste a bunch of time formatting it the wrong way.

Created a master page for all affixes @ DiabloWiki.com - Affixes (Diablo II) Affixes (Diablo II)

So far, I have added the prefix list to it. I will work on the suffix list over the next week (it takes a long time to format them all).

Just as a heads up, I'm adding as much as I can about suffixes and prefixes. I've already added them to the Jewels page, so you can check that out to get a sneak peak.
