Jeez, so many people don't like the D2 MF system, even though that's where MF was invented...

The problem is, the dev team has said, swapping that "1 attribute" WILL effect you in a noticeable way.

Until we get to end game inferno, we cant give a true value to what we are losing, while gaining that MF

I was shocked about this move myself, at first, it sounded kind of odd, basicly losing your MF when joining a game with others that don't have as much. But the reasons they gave were good, as long as they hold true.

Really not going to judge this until we see it in action in inferno, and see what losing those stats truly does

So if it that one attribute does affect you so much, then doesn't that mean your team isn't going to be able to win anyway?

If three other people are stacked and ready for killing (stacked for dps), and you come in with loads of MF, your going to be worthless compared to them.

You are becoming weaker to get more loot, when you join a public game, if your not going to be putting the same output because you want more loot, then the group is going to get some of that loot now for carrying you.
Exactly. You don't want others to mooch off your MF, but you're perfectly comfortable mooching off their DPS. I don't get that.

I still disagree that a single attribute is going to make all the difference in being able to kill shit even in inferno.

What are all the attribute can you have on a character?

    +(primary attribute)
    +life leech
    +damage
    +vitality

What others are there that really affect how you kill mobs?

You can already get rares in the beta that have as many as 6 attributes, and that's stuff for level 1-8 roughly

I understand that the system is supposed to encourage you to build non-MF characters, but it all it does to me is encourage me to play by my singleplayer.

    Am I the only one?
    Sooo... What would you suggest?

... You get to keep your Magic Find percentage just as it is shown on your Character Stats screen?
And how would you deal with the problem of everyone wiping on Inferno mode because everyone is stacking Magic Find instead of survival/damage stats?

I'd say that replacing 1 attribute for MF for each item (out of about 6-10 per item) is not going to really hinder your ability to kick ass all that much...

Edit: Also, wouldn't a teammate that is (supposedly) lacking behind hinder the ability to actually kill more in a multiplayer game anyway?

No, I like it. Without sharing MF, you'd have people show up loaded in so much junk MF gear that they couldn't kill anything and just rely on the group to get them drops. At least this way if someone does that, you get the benefit of their MF to compensate for their lack of killing ability.

I'd say that replacing 1 attribute for MF for each item (out of about 6-10 per item) is not going to really hinder your ability to kick ass all that much...

I have chosen be game-free in anticipation of Diablo 3 release. I am on a gaming sabatical- out of respect for the Diablo 3. Diablo is not a game for me, it's a lifestyle, (unfortunately?). I am a slave to Diablo "games". It's like a big slot machine that's right smack in my house. I'm re-building my computer setup in preparation for D3, i've already hand crafted a sturdy desk, bought a receiver to connect to bookshelf speakers with a fantastic internal DAC that will out-do any sound card. New Razor Mouse/Keyboard, bought a 23" LED over my 20", and am now about to pull the trigger on a new gaming rig or a new video card, trying to decide. And as someone stated above, (I wish I was) Hibernating.

Most people who know me would not consider me to be a "gamer".
It's ridiculous; the length I'm going, in creating a gaming PC when the only game I will ever play on it is Diablo 3. That is pretty close to being factual.

    We should start a club

Re the 20% part...I haven't seen any probabilities floating around so was curious where you came up with it.
Yea so there being 10 different event tiles in this area, the map picks two for you each game. Once picked they can't be picked again (dependent events in probability). For example you can't get two Den of the Fallen on the same map. The probability of getting the Den is thus: P(d) + (1-P(d) * P(d)) That is, the union of either getting it as the first pick or the second pick: 1/10 + 9/10 * 1/9 = .20 or 20%
Of course, that assumes that the probability factor for each tile is even...
    it is, in this case

we have tested it all out, ran scripted calculations (well I did that dumb part) and then also verified it with real runs)

    What? You botted it?
what are you reading? scripted "Calculations" is not even remotely close to the word "bot"

In other words, what 'scripted calculations' did you do and how did you do them?

    Very nice write up =D

One question though; I don't remember the Black mushroom ever dropping from Adrias cauldron. I DO remember it spawning right outside her shed to the right after you defeat captain Dalton. I could be wrong, just curious =)

It used to have a very small chance to drop from the cauldron - it also used to provide an infinite supply of heal (like a potion that doesn't deplete). It's since been removed from the cauldron and is now found in rare mushroom patches, and it also doesn't do anything (to our knowledge)

    Edit: Also, the reference:
