The reason why this is so darned aggravating is because (a) I was essentially lied to, (B) I based my entire opinion of the RMAH on that knowledge, and (c) had plans to really do a lot of selling, and now those plans seem FAR less attractive.
Plus, if you look at all the transactions, in the end, you could end up getting about 60-75% of the actual final price if you take into consideration all the taxes put together.

Sep 1, 2011CherubDown posted a message on ActivisionBlizzard WebCast Analyst DayI will repeat what I said since my post was too vulgar. I will rephrase. And I do apologize.Posted in: News
You can't say this doesn't matter. It does matter. It matters because why would I (as a buyer) want to go with Blizzard RMAH when I can illegally go with a 3rd party seller who doesn't take a percentage off the final price? -
Sep 1, 2011CherubDown posted a message on ActivisionBlizzard WebCast Analyst DayI'm sick and tired of people saying this doesn't fucking matter. It fucking matters. Why the hell would I NOT illegally go with a 3rd party service to do my buying now (assuming I'm a buyer)? The businesses/farmers will always be cheaper because there isn't a percentage taken off.Posted in: News

YES! And FURTHERMORE (forgive me if I sound like I'm yelling because I'm madder than hell!!), Jay Wilson said specifically that they're not going to benefit from sales. If they take that back after 2 weeks, what kind of faith can we have in Blizzard?Quote from Doomscream
I get that they wants us to interest us in someway to keep the money into the virtual account instead of cashing out.Quote from Deventh
Then it will become a little too much don't you think ? The whole point is that players should choose either Blizzard Store or buy another item from RMAH with the money they earned.Quote from Doomscream
This doesn't make sense. They could very well just put the % fee the moment you sell an item on the RMAH.Quote from Gheed2010
The phrase in question is at 14:04 - thanks for being man enough to document your error, doom, there is hope.
But if they take a % from cashing out, than it goes against what they've said earlier - that flat feels are to keep Blizz's hands clean if someone posts(and sells) items for crazy amounts of money, they won't encourage it for their own profit, it's all in the players hands; that any future changes on an item's stats will affect the economy.

Sep 1, 2011CherubDown posted a message on ActivisionBlizzard WebCast Analyst DayBlizzard will not take a percentage. There are two fees and both are flat. One for posting, and one for selling. It's all laid out in plane text on the official site:Posted in: News
Official Blizzard Quote:
A nominal fixed transaction fee will be deducted from the seller for each item listed in the auction house. This fee consists of a fixed charge to list the item, which is assessed whether or not the item is successfully sold, and an additional fixed charge that is assessed only if the item is sold. Because the listing portion of the fee is charged even if the item doesn't sell, it will be in the seller's interest to list items he or she believes other players will be interested in, and to do so at a competitive price. Specific details related to the transaction fee for the currency-based auction house will vary by region and will be announced at a later date.

If that's the case, it certainly does fucking affect me. If it's true, it would sincerely pisses me off. Taking a percentage of the fee is just about the lamest goddamn thing I've heard, especially since everyone who's been in favor of the RMAH up to this point has been banking on the fact that it would be flat.Quote from ScyberDragon
No, I do believe that Blizzard will be taking a % for cashing out. But this does not matter to me as it will not affect my interaction with the RMAH
NOT OK AT ALL. THIS IS PURE SHIT.
(I guess I'm not done) -
Sep 1, 2011CherubDown posted a message on ActivisionBlizzard WebCast Analyst DayRob Pardo completely misspoke I believe. He's in a room full of a lot of people who matter.Posted in: News
They're not just going to suddenly after Gamescom do a complete 180 on the matter. That is not the way Blizzard does business. -
Sep 1, 2011CherubDown posted a message on ActivisionBlizzard WebCast Analyst DayBlizzard (this means Jay Wilson, Bashiok, and all the rest) have confirmed that the fee taken during the transaction will be FLAT. Trust me, Blizzard is not stupid enough to take a percentage. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. Please listen to this:Posted in: News
Start at 2:00. "We don't take a percentage of the cut." Period.

I think the moral of this story is... If it's basically a maxed-stat item, sell it for as high as possible. I'm really surprised you didn't try to sell this for $250 on the RMAH, because that's probably what it's going for.

In all seriousness, here are my sincere thoughts about the RMAH and it's implications on the game (taken directly from Penny Arcade):

Exactly. Diablo is all about trying builds that are wacky, but if they work in inferno, it becomes a 'viable' build.
It's like melee wizards. They're totally doable but they may or may not be viable in inferno.
