Well, the caravan is in town so that won't help too much.

I also think someone to heal us might be necessary. Nobody major, just somebody who can that way we can always get full health the few times we do go to town.

posted a message on Crafting runestones
runestones are not rune words. they are the items that we will be putting into our skills to modify their effects. They have already worked on them. Regardless, that has nothing to do with the topic. The topic at hand is that we get to craft our own runestones. I am wondering exactly how this works. We can break down components of other runestones but just what they break down into and what is needed to craft new ones is unknown.

Like some sort of brawler who arranges matches. That would be pretty cool.

I feel that there must be more if there are quest givers and other important NPC's. It is the "other important NPC's" that make me think that they still have a few tricks up their sleeves.

I also noticed on the site that there is a distinction between the caravan and the artisans. On the site it says:

    Official Blizzard Quote:

The caravan is a persistent group that follows the heroes across Sanctuary, providing a centralized hub for players to find quest givers, crafters, and other important NPCs.

So, along with the Artisans, we can expect other people to be a part of our caravan. I expect that Deckard and Leah are probably are part of this but who else can we expect. Hopefully, other NPC's that offer services other than crafting, like a tradesman to act as a means to trade with other players.

posted a message on Crafting runestones
The diablo 3 site was updated with the artisan/caravan information. One thing I noticed, that hadn't been said before was that the mystic can break down DiabloWiki.com - runestones runestones so that you can combine ingredients to make your own. I think this will be similar to how we can break down armor into pieces to make new ones. Maybe this is what the talisman is for. There are different components/pieces, you needs to create one new runestone. I am wondering how exactly it works though. Like what pieces they break down into. Is it just "magic" pieces and you need enough to create a new one or is it like certain stones have different pieces and combine x+y=z.

I do like that there will be some control in obtaining these runestones than just pure luck with random drops.

you're assuming that the amount of players allowed in a game is the same that will be allowed for pvp. Maybe pvp will be hosted outside of games.

Again, you are explaining how pvp worked in D2 and the problems that will cause for D3. You can't talk about how things will work in D3 based off of information from D2. The games will not be duels of 2v2 because this is not how pvp will work in D3. So, the 4 player cap does not have issues with pvp as we know it.

And I never said that you were speculating on pvp. In fact, I said you should speculate to prove your point further rather than just how pvp worked in D2.

No, I am saying that you are refuting an idea by using a mechanic which is not even in this game. I would never say that Diablo 3 shouldn't have health globes because there are town portals and potions. If you want to speculate on PvP, that is fine but you are not. You are referring to a system in D2 to argue something in D3. See the difference?

PvP is pointless to use a defense because none of us even know how PvP will work.

I think five would be ideal just in case we want to play with all five characters.

So rewarding the player for adding and then removing and then adding a different gem. I don't really get the point of that. It doesn't really get players to think or change how they would do something. Just adding and removing gems constantly, and possibly switching to gems that they do not even want to use.

posted a message on Gem order
That's an interesting idea. Change the "potency" of the effects depending on what order. The only problem I have with it is that it seems punishing rather than rewarding. I would prefer:

    1st gem = 125% of its stats
    2nd gem = 110% of its stats
    3rd gem = 100% of its stats
    4th gem = 100% of its stats

It ends up being the same but feels more rewarding for making the choices than punishing for not choosing one first. I would still like extra effects though. Nothing major like Enigma but just add one effect like life steal or % increase to crit.

I'm not a big fan of the pet idea. I just don't see animals running along side us and fighting the demons with us and this is coming from someone whose favorite class is the Druid. For him it was fine because it fit his lore. But for every player to have one? What animals would they be?

I think human helpers just fits Diablo much better.
