First, I think everyone should relax a little. I myself was not trying to insult anyone but rather have a discussion. I personally think I've explained every idea I've presented.
There are a couple points I'd like to address here (keep in mind these are my opinions):
First, IAS is not the best dps stat. It's pretty good in some situations, and it provides some utility, but it's not universally awesome. Likewise, cooldown reduction is not great for all builds. In reference to the original post, I don't think IAS is as good as critical hit/critical damage solely for doing damage. This is pretty good, though, because (outside of a few runes and items utilizing critical hit %), criticals don't provide any utility, just more damage. IAS, and its counterpart cooldown reduction, both provide good DPS when utilized intelligently as well as increased utility (procs, life on hit, lower cooldown on utility skills).
Second, IAS doesn't ever make you kill more slowly. In the absolute worst case, it can make you kill at the same speed, because the bottleneck is resource generation, but it's never strictly detrimental to have more attack speed. If given a choice between IAS and another stat, it may be better to choose certain other stats, but there's no reason to ditch all your IAS just becase it's IAS.
Third, IAS does reduce your animation time. There are some streamers who re-rolled a female barbarian just to save like 12 frames of animation or something. It does make an impact on how you play the game. I wouldn't say it's the most important factor to consider, but in every Diablo game, I can notice a big difference in 'responsiveness' between a low attack speed and high attack speed. If you're running rifts with a skill like frozen orb, bessed hammer, hammer of the ancients, or even archon, having a high attack speed makes playing quite a bit quicker in my experience. Of course, move speed probably has more of an impact, but move speed doesn't usually compete with attack speed, and this depends on the density of monsters.
Attack speed may not be the most important skill to determine how quickly you can kill in a group rift, but it's certainly not completely useless. One could argue that if a mob dies in anything less than a whole number of your skill casts, your bonus damage up to the next whole number is pointless.
For example: would you rather have your meteor crit a mob with 1 million health for 1.15 million damage, or crit for 1 million damage but cast 10% faster? If the 10% drops your cast animation by at least 1 frame, you'll go faster with the 10% attack speed.

teoteodore posted a message on The Complete Cynical and unScientific guide to Loot Drops and MFIt must first be recognized that loot drops are not determined by any computer generated models or Random Number Generators but rather by Blizzard’s developer of all things worthless, the Marquis de Sade. The following rules and suggestions will help to make your futile attempts to find something of value perhaps a bit more efficient. However, my experience in these forums is that this advice will fall on deaf ears.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
1. The value of drops is in inverse proportion to the effort required to attain them. Therefore Ghom, Siegebreaker and Azmodan will never drop legendaries.
2. Since shrines of any type are never placed where they can be of any benefit, you will not find anything of value within five minutes of activating a Shrine of Fortune.
3. Resplendent chests contain far more junk then normal chests. If your backpack is near to full, ignore resplendent chests.
4. Never achieve 300 (375 buffed) MF. That is considered arrogant by the Marquis and you will be penalized for it.
5. Keep in mind that more valuable gear seems to drop after you have reduced your MF thru gear upgrades, perpetuating the theory behind #4. Therefore, always carry additional gear to artificially reduce your MF during runs of ACT3 should you inadvertently level up.
6. In the rare case that you do find a legendary item, never identify it during the run. It is far better to proceed in the misplaced belief that you have something of value rather than in a depressed state realizing you do not.
7. Your follower may be stealing your legendary drops and selling them behind your back.
8. Never assist that stupid blacksmith in the Depths. If he had anything of value, do you think he’d sell it to you?
9. Hold onto those crossbows with strength, those mighty belts with intellect, those wands of dexterity. Blizzard is planning a new character class; I think it’s a Koala.

The developers are stating that D3 is all about the thrill of the loot drop, but rarely does any good loot drop.
Arguably true, although it depends on your definition of "good," loot. Do you mean it as in "good," enough to beat the game or "good," enough to farm act3 inferno (everyone's favorite benchmark)? Or perhaps some other litmus is required.
Quote from The_Real_Zeus
I played for about 6 hours this weekend with no good drops, not even remotely good.
I would advise against anecdotes of this kind unless you're attempting to parse a more statistically meaningful sample with personal experience.
Quote from The_Real_Zeus
Then we are force to use the AH. If you wanted to play the game without the AH is would almost be impossible to beat the game
Demonstrably false. The game is quite possibly to beat all the way through inferno without buying anything and it has been done now by a countless number of youtube jockeys and streamers alike.
Quote from The_Real_Zeus
The percentage of a level 63 item is low and even when one drops it is about a 1 in 1000 that will remotely any good.
This improves as you move up in act difficulty.
Quote from The_Real_Zeus
I would like to put it out the D3 community ideas how to fix this problem.
Ok.
Quote from The_Real_Zeus
My first suggestion is to reduced all resistance required cause at this stage if armour drops it is normally pretty useless if it does not have resist all.
10 armor ~ 1 All Resist. Armor is not useless and is, in-fact, grossly under-valued.
Quote from The_Real_Zeus
Currently you need about 500 resist all to be viable at all, reducing this to about 100 would greatly increase the range of armour that is viable.
Quite a few classes (if not all) are viable with glass cannon builds which have little or no resist benchmarks to meet or maintain. Furthermore, I don't think greatly reducing the damage of all monsters from act1 onward would be of much use when your intended goal is to improve the rate at which "good," (don't forget to define this) loot drops.
---
I do agree that there is still a glut of what i'd call "completely useless shit," in the itemization mix. I don't think every item should be like some legendaries (nearly impossible to get a bad roll), but I do believe that finding hundreds of ilvl 63 items worth less than a decent ilvl 55 equivalent is patently absurd and happens far too much. -

BigEd781 posted a message on The [Non-Constructive/Conspiratorial] Rant Posts: What do you think? You have always struck me as a reasonable person who is perhaps on the other side of the fence, but as this thread goes; it is a complete farce. The poll is ridiculous. By definition, a "troll/whine thread" could not possibly be constructive. Also, your post makes anyone who sees problems in the game out to be unreasonable.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

We have all nearly exhausted our repetitious words attempting to calm the rabid haters, make them see reason, or simply stop posting on a forum dedicated to a game they passionately hate.
I realize that this is directed toward the "rabid haters", but I see no provision for those who see real problems with the game but are in fact reasonable. As a result, you have painted anyone who disagrees with you as "unreasonable", and comments such as this:
Quote from proletariaEven with the oncoming patch, which some detractors have grudgingly accepted as positive
again paint us as people who are somehow invested in the failure of Diablo III. I'm sure you would count me as one of the "detractors", but I don't "grudgingly accept [the patch] as positive", I think it *is* positive, in every sense of the word. It is a patch which incorporates changes that I and people like me have been begging for.
We want the game to be fun. We want the focus to be on fun and not on so-called "balance". When a decision point arises wherein the developers/project managers have to make a choice between something which is potentially OP (but perhaps fun) and a possible nerf, we want them to err on the side of fun (i.e., leave as is), not caution (i.e., "nerf bat!"). We want a game where there are perhaps too many powerful weapons/builds/whatever rather than too few.
I think the developers are seeing that the majority of the playerbase feels this way and are making changes accordingly. For that I am pleased because I want DIII to succeed. I want to be enjoying this game 5+ years from now, but to achieve that, changes need to be made. I like the direction that the game is going and I am willing to be patient.
On topic: no, I don't like those who bitch and moan while proposing no reasonable alternative. I don't like those who troll near every thread with nonsense about how "blizz sucks", how they're incompetent, how they are money hungry, soulless pigs. Conversely, I don't care for those who unthinkingly defend poor design choices. No reasonable person likes either side very much I would wager. Both extremes suck and they make the community worse. -

italofoca posted a message on Inferno Drops Make No sense at allJust see the time you play until you get a upgrade (both drops and getting money to buy a item). I get a upgrade every 10 hours or so. Thats a good number. I play like 2 hours per day, so 1 item every week is what I expect from the high end of farm based game. I remember old lineage times were one needed like 50 hours of efficient perfect planned farm to get a upgrade.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I think majority of people don't really now what they don't like about D3. It's not a matter of time you take to get a upgrade. It's the lack of variety in item types and ways you have to get a upgrade. It's lack of different interations inside the game. -

if its a boring game why do you have nearly 15 thousand posts on a diablo fan website? you should stop coming here then. whats the point? spreading more hate for the game on a fan site? lawl
Well you know what? I'm totally not gonna answer your question. I'm gonna let you sit there and wonder why I have nearly 15 thousand posts on a diablo fan website. But wouldn't it really be more accurate to call it a webzone? Where are you getting this phrase website? That doesn't make sense. It's a webzone. LOL You've got mail!
And I'm not spreading hate for this game. I'm merely being honest. I'm just saying that so far I've found it to be mostly boring. Is my mind ultimately decided on it? Of course not. But what I've seen and what I've played of it so far has merely been underwhelming. Is that okay with you? Can I express such feelings without being labelled a hater? Is that possible as far as you're concerned? I promise you don't have to answer any of these questions. -

That wouldn't have improved it. It's still a boring game.Quote from The_Choob
I think if you had the Beta longer, didn't feel rushed to finish, and got to try all the classes, you would have enjoyed it a lot more.

I suggest you go back and watch the video again, as you seem to have forgotten what was actually said. The guy in the video simply said he died in Nightmare, he said nothing about how many times. The other fella said people will get their asses handed to them in Nightmare and above. Based upon that, it's quite clear they died multiple times in Nightmare. One doesn't say something like that while casually strolling through a level.
i lawl at your niavety bud. for the D2 veterans here we know how hard nightmare will ACTUALLY be. and it will still be a breeze for ppl who arent stupid/scrubs.
i will post my first playthroughs of NM and hell and show how hard its not.
I'm starting to get sick of your cocky - know it all attitude. You act like you are some gaming-GOD sent from the cyber-heaven to enlighten the world.....

Snaks conclusion implies the lack of inclusion of any other end game besides the farming of Inferno. Yes as of release this will be the culmination of Diablo III, farming Inferno. Fantastic, a difficulty where all zones are relatively the same and allows for a consistant challange is a great idea. My point was that for somebody who on day X who doesn't feel like farming zone Y need not be "shit out of luck" as Snaks puts it, and I see no reason not to have a broader swath of possiblities post release.
1
I think this is a falsehood. I agree that Diablo is a loot pinyata game first and foremost however that doesn't disclude the possibility for futher "end game." After release there is the potential that we may see various game modes that do nothing but pit your characters against increasingly challanging mobs or some such. There is much to be gained from variety and little reason to not include it eventually
