Basically, What Bashiok said was that they want to add something that gives people who enjoy rerolling something for actually doing that. Please bear in mind that that something could just be a special achievement, or a title. It doesn't have to be something like +1 traits. As for why you would want more than one of each class there is always PvP/PvE as Jackzor said. And there might be even more reasons that we don't know about yet, depending on how the respec system will actually work.
Of course, you will never HAVE To make a new one because with respecs it will be hard to "break" a character like you could in Diablo II. But having two separate chars for different task, such as PvP and PvE, is something that a lot of people probably will want anyway.
Again, you should ignore the traits example and just look at the basic concept they are playing with. We will have to wait and see what the developers think about the issue.

Just for the sake of having something to say, the +1 trait per character that reaches 60 idea is an horrible one.
I know its just an idea thrown around. But the last thing I want is a "reborn" like features that becomes the very definition of having "no life" to have as many points as you can to have better builds.
I guess I am simply against things like that that makes some people play even more like no life for silly reasons. It should not exist. A bit like achievements that makes you grind like hell in WoW for a title.
The rest wasn't really "new" to me. Except the Quest items thing, and I'm not even sure? But its a good thing.
Amen, bro.
Is this some kind of lame Aprils fools joke? This is an idea so horrible that to call it shit would be being nice. If crap could crap and then that crap could crap, then it would be that.. /puke
Jackzor already explained it pretty well, but I'm just going to paste the whole post about that here anyway
Official Blizzard Quote:
What if, say, there were a series of achievements per class... This is totally hypothetical, I'm making it up right now so maybe it's dumb ...but, say there's some limited amount of this special achievement per class. Let's say you play a witch doctor and reach level 60 with it and get the first one of these special achievements. The achievement grants you +1 trait point for all future witch doctors you create. That's a pretty nice boost. So sometime later you make another witch doctor, start off with an immediate +1 trait, and then hit 60 with that one too, and hey hey! you get the next special achievement. Another +1 trait points for all witch doctors you make, so now you're sitting pretty with +2 trait points on witch doctors your create. And it could go from there to some limit. Or something. So maybe that's a pretty good incentive? And ... one that's probably broken since I'm not a designer, but anyway! I think it gives some idea of potential incentives to keep rolling characters of the same type. Thinking about downsides to this a couple come to mind: Feel "forced" to get all the achievements just to stay competitive in arena (or maybe literally forced) Old characters don't gain the bonus so it may make them feel less exciting to play - Which I just realized could be fixed by just giving it to all your characters of that class type. Not sure why I thought that would be a bad idea Might discourage play of multiple classes/encourage sticking with just one until all achieves gained Anyway, I don't want to spend a bunch of time speculating on these things. Although I'm sure I could. Was just an example.

You should have mention the post where Bashiok says that the Barbarian will probably no longer be spelled out as the same Barbarian from Diablo II! A lot of people got pissed by this, which means that a lot of people care!
I decided not to put all the recent blue posts in just because the post would get a bit big. Although that is indeed an interesting post for some, so I took the freedom to edit it in your post :).

Yeah, The +1 traits might not be a very good idea at all and most likely nothing like that will be in the final game. It was just an example from Bashiok and he clearly stated he's not a designer and just made it up so it might be stupid. Hopefully the real deal will be something that still attracts rerolls, but does not make it so you have to reroll several times just to get the best build.
No, but he did say that because of the good reactions he got from this small test he might consider doing it into some kind of series where he tells a little bit about his experience playing the game. -

This may be a little off topic, but does anyone know if they are going to do streams for the tournament matches in Blizzcon for free like they did in the previous ones? If I try to get that information from the official site all I get is that I can buy a virtual ticket to watch the full footage with millions of cameras and HD quality streaming.
I don't want all that, I just want a mediocre to decent streaming for the tournament matches to watch IF I have the time. I won't buy something that I don't know if I will have time to watch.

liquorice, try this http://www.worldtimeserver.com/convert_time_in_US-CA.aspx . Your hours are way off. Last time I checked Anaheim was in Cali and that's -9 hours from here.
My times are actually correct. I converted to GMT. Cali to GMT is a difference of 7 hours. The only error I made is that Sweden is currently GMT+2 (not GMT+1) because of daylight saving time.
So just add +2 to my times if you live in Sweden (or anywhere else using CET). -

If you look at the schedule you can just put in the time it says on the schedule into WolframAlpha and it will give you the time in your current time zone, how long until that time and a bunch of other useful stuff.
That's an awesome site (for lots of stuff)! Thanks for the tip. -

Yay!
btw
Oh my gawd, I hadn't realized it's wednesday already! Blizzcon is mere hours away!
Although, come to think of it, I live in Europe (GMT+1).. Has anyone calculated yet around what time the important D3 events will be for us Europe people?
Probably like in the middle of the night
The above is not really correct. Anaheim is 7 hours behind GMT (thus 9 hours behind GMT+2/Sweden).
Here are the scheduled key times converted to GMT (24-hour format).
Friday 22nd:
Event: PST GMT Opening Ceremony 11:00-11:30 18:00-18:30 Diablo III Gameplay 12:00-13:00 19:00-20:00
Saturday 23rd:
Event: PST GMT Diablo III Crafting Sanctuary 10:30-11:30 17:30-18:30 Diablo III Open Q&A 15:00-16:00 22:00-23:00 Closing Ceremony 18:30-20:30 01:30-3:30
So the last Diablo panel (Q&A) ends 24:00 Saturday night GMT+1 time. -

Nice compilation! I think they all look good enough for mid-level "sets". They all have a certain theme to distinguish the classes, which is good. I'm probably going wizard as my first character and I think their sets looks awesome! -

Also:
As scheduled, Blizzard has released the a new armor set. This time it is the female Wizard featured in a red plate mail armor. It is interesting to see how something as "heavy" as plate mail we be worn by someone of a lighter feel
I like this set. I love the way that in Diablo, sets doesn't have to be "über-fancy" just to be cool. This is very basic, but yet nice looking. Wizard is currently in my plans for first character and this did not disappoint me :). -

It's funny how this tiny picture is such a huge thing now, and when Blizzcon hits it'll be nothing. Blizzard really knows how to hype stuff up with minimal amount of "resources".Posted in: News

Has there been a picture of the Witch Doctor with boots or any sort of shoe like item on? I can only recall him bare foot.
I wonder if boots all have an alternative image for him where they look like little ankle braclets/coverings/armor.
Hm.. yea interesting point.. Could very well be that they will do that. If they are going for a bare foot witch doctor. It does seem a little bit strange though, even though it fits with the image of a with doctor it's not very practical. Maybe boots just isn't included in the set that they show off here. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

I, as well, look forward to seeing your writings. What kind of books are you into?
And regarding the username, if you registered via Curse there is a chance that your nick is only taken there but still available here on this forum. Try going to your settings and use the Change Display Name-feature. It worked for me!

Point 1: I highly doubt anything in D3 is copypasted from WoW. Yes, models might be very similar, but that's not the same thing really.. I've seen undeads in robes in WoW - yea. But I've also seen walking skeletons in D2 before seeing them in WoW.. I don't think everything has to be "original" to be good. A cultist in a robe is a cultist in a robe, a zombie is a zombie.
Point 2: That is such a minor thing I wouldn't be worried about.. Sure they made a mistake thinking that we would want it to be unified with wow, and that might ring some alarms that they are thinking too much about WoW, but they also show that they listen to the feedback from older Diablo-players. Which is a good thing :).
Point 3: Firstly, that trailer is quite old, who knows what they have changed from there. Secondly.. it is not copy pasted. The only real "influence" from WoW is that they decided to go with an actionbar. Thirdly, you said it's better now. So what's the problem? It's stupid to do something original just for the sake of being original. Original /= good
Point 4: On this part I'll agree with you considering the pictures we've seen. I think they'll work it out a little bit better in the end, and I'm not all that concerned about it, but I do agree they could make it a bit grittier.
Point 5-9: I'll have to save those for later since I gotta go back to work :P.

It was liquorice, but while checking around in settings I found the display name changer and decided to try it and it seems that liquorice was only taken for curse (where I registered) so I'm now liquorice instead.
Thanks, I will! I dunno, don't blame me!
Why thank you! Hope you'll be in the mood for me often.

I'm very much looking forward to Diablo 3, as most of us. My Diablo career started out with D2 some many years ago and I played it a lot. Now Blizzcon 2010 is just around the corner and D3 creeps closer every day so probably will be lots to discuss and read about.
Enough about games though, now for the important (?) part:
I'm a 20 year old guy from Sweden. I (obviously) enjoy gaming and everything related to it. I live in Stockholm and work part time while studying web-programming and mainly playing games in my spare time.
The nickname Kanzou is Japanese for liquorice, another common nick that I use, but unfortunately it was already taken so I went with this instead :). edit: info void, i got my usual nick!
So this starts out my posting here. I look forward to get to know the community and slay some demons when D3 finally launches!
