Yeah... looks like condemn sader is the way to go if you want a BiS 2H that's also a sword. Luckily it looks to be in a good state for 2.6.1. We'll see how things shake out.

I know condemn's BiS weapon is a 2H sword but I think the rest of those builds ideally use a 2H flail. At least based on the research I've done.

I could always do a slightly less than optimal build to use a 2H sword. Sacrifice The Furnace most of those builds cube and instead cube the flail. I guess that's possible. Not sure how much of an impact that has on pushing higher GRs. I'd assume rather significant, but oh well! Such is the price for beauty, right? :P

posted a message on Competitive Neco build using a 2H sword? Could this even be a thing?

    Hey all,

I'm returning to D3 after a long hiatus and all the new buffs to various builds is really exciting. One of my favorite things in D3 is mogging my gear and there is a set of 3 2H Swords that I just love to have for my appearance at any point in time. I made a thread here a few days ago but I'm not sure if enough necro centric build makers would traverse the forums there.

Looking at all the changes I'm curious if there are any high end GR pushing necro builds people can recommend which would utilize a 2H Sword for the weapon choice. Looking at some of the more popular build on this site it seems most gravitate away from a 2H Sword which makes it impossible to mog to one. Possibly a LoN build? Are there any good 2H Swords which would even benefit a Necro's playstyle. I've not done much other than the first 20 levels or so of a necro and have no idea how they play in late game...

    Thanks in advance!

I have found this build: http://www.diablofans.com/builds/95445-condemn-by-fire-gr100

Looks straight forward enough and seems to be what I'm looking for. Admittedly I'd rather have a barb or necro build but this seems interesting enough for me to try with the next patch.

Thanks for the replies all. In terms of what I am playing, I generally focus on barbs. The necro has seen some time and I've toyed with a crusader before.

Another clarifying point about the 2H weapons, I'm specifically looking to use a 2H sword. Not just any 2H weapon. From what I can tell the 3 2H sword models I tend to try and use can only be mogged to if I'm using a 2H sword as my equipped weapon. I've seen discussion on this and I think it's tied to animation restrictions not the item being a 2H weapon in general.

I've not done enough neco to know if a 2H scythe can be mogged into a 2H sword or not but I know axes, maces, and might weapons have mogging into a sword restrictions placed upon them.

    Thanks again!

posted a message on Using 2H swords for high end rifts

    Hey all,

Trying to figure out if there are any builds that will use 2H swords for their high end rift builds. It feels like the answer is no based on my research as most class which would use a 2H weapon have a class specific one they should be using. I ask mostly for mogging purposes. I know this game isn't about playing dress up, but it's a part I enjoy a lot.

    Thanks,

posted a message on How to be a master of lightning and the storm

    Hey All,

Relative D3 noob here. I started playing at the beginning of this season after being a long hold out. It's been a lot of fun, but I'm trying to amp up my enjoyment by reaching out to you all. I'm playing the Invoker set based crusader and I enjoy the style of CD management with one to two ability spam. The CD management is rather engaging to me. However, I'm looking to play something themed in more usage of lightning damage.

I know the crusader has a relatively competitive hammerdin build which can be geared to pump out lightning damage. I tried it and it's just not really for me. I don't feel I can run and gun or jump into a crowd. It's rather squishy compared to other crusader builds. I've investigated some other LoN builds and how I can give them a lightning theme but in doing so I always seem to sacrifice survivability which isn't as fun when trying to push for greater rifts. So I want to branch out while the season is still going and try another class. Suggestions? I hear the DH and the Wizard have lighting based builds. Are they competitive at all? Are they just as challenging to gear for as the lightning hammerdin? What about a monk or barbarian?

I'm not really sure what I'm looking to play but I'm willing to trying things. The crusader version of a lightning damage build didn't seem to pump out the numbers fast enough or take the hits like it needed to allow the hammers to do their work, so I am hoping this community can help stir me towards another class/build that might be closer.

    Thanks!

posted a message on The best path to T10

    Hey all,

I'm rather new to the game as I only started playing at recently this season. A friend finally talked me into playing. I've seen some videos on how drops and torment levels work, but I'm curious how long one should farm a given torment level before moving up. Right now I can clear T7 rifts just without much problem. I can handle T8 fairly well with the occasional hiccup based on mob density/combos. However, my speed at T7 feels noticably higher than T8.

Should I continue to farm T7 longer for more gear or is the difference in speed not really worth it and the higher chance at gear drops in T8 better? Will the gear drops in T8 have better/higher stat rolls than in T7?

I know it's super nooby to be asking things like this, but I'm just curious what is my best path to T10 farming.

    Thanks!

Lightning based Crusader is more of a fun, stun-based build now and in 2.4 patch. It`s not really effective in higher tier game. But if you're not going to be a hardcore min-max diablo player it`s ok to play.

How much of the end game scene is missed by not being a 'hardcore min-max diablo player'? Mind you I know nothing really of how the end game works yet.

posted a message on Trying to understand the crusader

    Hey all,

I'm looking to start playing D3 as it's always interested me but I've never taken the dive. But a buddy has finally convinced me.

I tend to like games where I can play some lightning infused character that can equally punch you in the face or blow you up with magic. A battle mage if you will. After watching a lot of videos online it seems the crusader is a class in D3 that could fit this mold. But I'm a noob when it comes to understanding end game in D3 and much less about how viable a lightning-centric build can be long term.

I've seen a lot online which seems to indicate lightning based attacks are/were viable but I'm just looking evidence that this would hold up over time. I don't mind if the actual attack I use each season has to change. But for a pure RP-enjoyment part of the game I'd like to keep it lightning based.

I know nothing of how gear works or if/how it can be changed to fit your needs. I don't know if that then plays into what I'd be looking to do. I understand there are ways to enhance abilities but that's about it.

    Thanks in advance!
