I'd have to agree with you both on this one.
Ophion makes some solid points with they are good quality for what they are, however, Dolaiim in the end is right. Anything released by Blizzard is part of their marketing campaign, whether they be free gifts or videos released on youtube. It is all part of building product awareness to the massess. Viral videos are reaching one of the number one forms of marketing, due to the increased time people spend on the internet and the invention of tivo/dvr.

Ophion - Would it be fair to say that a majority of people that play computer games and a percentage of console gamers have heard of Blizzard or Blizzcon? Imagine you were a die-hard WOW fanatic and saw these videos. What would your reaction be? - What crappy graphics - I'm assuming. I think that is the point that Dalaiim is trying to make.

I personally love the videos, not because of the graphics, but because it's a glimpse at what we have all been waiting for for far to long!

Ophion - Can you link some good machinima videos? I have never heard of it prior to this post.

Innovative or outgoing or good words that you can elaborate on with multiple meanings of the definition. For instance, innovative encompasses being hard-working, motivated, adaptive and dedicated if used in the proper context. I would say focus on a word that has a broad meaning; one that you can fluff up. Don't forget it doesn't necessarily need to be true either, just try to sell yourself the best you can! Good luck hope this helped.

    Dear Irrational,
Please take note to the definition of religion #3, the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices, hmm.. it would seem that you and Azriel qualify as a body of persons and both of you are adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices, as you stated that everyone uses science throughout their daily lives in a previous post. Wouldn't this qualify scientific naturalist a religion?
Clearly it is your "beliefs" because if it wasn't this poll and thread would never exist.

    Dear Azriel,
Stop with the science is perfect please. To be perfect is an opinion, what is perfect for me may not be perfect for you. I'll use this topic for example; Many people believe that religion is perfect for them, you believe that it is faulty. You believe science is perfect, I believe science is full of faults and mistakes. That is why experiments are called experiments and not certainties.
As to your previous post that science created man, man created god - Man created science, man created god, man creates what he see's fit to answer questions that he does not have the answer to. It's basic problem solving - an innate ability that most humans are gifted enough to have.

    - Irrational,
You posted 2 reasons of why religions are in power; 1) It is to explain things that human cannot understand. 2) It is to comfort their idea of dying, creating an afterlife. In fact, religions are in power because people believe in them, without peoples belief they would not exist and would not hold any power. As to why people believe in the religions could be for a myriad of personal reasons that go far beyond explaining things and comforting the thought of death.

    - Azriel,
I am sorry but I fail to understand your post on the side effect of the drug use.
    --------------------------------------
Not perfect that it can't be misused. It's misuse is the fault of human practice. If a scientist worked hard enough, really put all their mettle into it, they could create a drug that could cure anything.

Side effects are more of just the body responding to the drug as it sees fit. It doesn't mean that the drug is flawed; if person A responds positively to the drug and person B gets a rash, who's to say whether the drug works or not? They can't really say either because everybody's bodies are different as a result of genetics.

Science is perfect because it's laws can't be argued against. We're trying to understand science, but that doesn't mean that it's laws aren't absolute because we don't know everything yet.
    ---------------------------------------
If the drug was intended to cure a sickness in both patient A and B and cured A but left B with sickness and rash then I will say the drug does not work. It failed at fulfilling its intended effect. Therefor, that science was not perfect - not because of mans misuse but because the drug failed at curing patient B, it's as simple as that.

I am baffled on this perfection because of mathematical use. Man created math - man is subject to error - math is subject to error - science is subject to error. We as creatures on earth are an ever evolving organism, physically, mentally and emotionally. Just because the math or scientific techniques that are used today are going unchallenged doesn't mean that it is 100% perfect. Science and math cannot create - man creates using science and math - science and math can only go as far as man can mentally go. Science cannot think, man uses science and math to argue science and math but in the end when a scientific law is disproved and replaced by a new law it is man arguing it and disproving it.

    ---------------------------------------
However, science is the ultimate judge. It slowly uncovers what the truth really is, which is why public schools deny the teachings of religion in it (unless it is for educational purposes). It is a slow process, but it is why more people are converting to scientific naturalism than any other time period in history.

And also, the poll is very rational. You cannot believe in both, as they are opposite in every way. Believe in both would mean that you crossing out what you don't like in both and make it suit what you like the most. Being undecided is what you really are.
    ---------------------------------------
Public schools deny the teachings of religion because of the controversy it would cause, if public schools started teaching Christianity it would cause a ridiculous amount of unnecessary conflict between all other religions and state.
All religion is is a collective amount of people that share the same belief in an attempt to live a happier life. Whichever religion or religions you are referring to I am unsure because I would assume that the vast majority of the educated populace would agree that 1 + 1 = 2, therefore they are not opposites in every way.

I am terribly sorry if this comes off as trolling but I had a lot to say based off of my readings and was not here during the beginning of this debate. It is not meant to be trolling/flaming/derogatory but I do see how it might be misconstrued due to the fact that it was all at one time.

I do not intent to bash any beliefs. I am just attempting to join in late on this debate and point out a few logical fallacies that I had noticed.

I cannot vote on this topic because there is no option that suits me. I am neither religious, scientific naturalist or undecided. I simply feel that I should treat others as I would wish to be treated. That is enough to get me through my days :):)

Again I sincerely apologize if any of this was taken to heart it was not meant to be spiteful in any way shape or form just some input on my thoughts of the matter.

Hey guys! I haven't played D2 in about 3 years and when I left it was slowly starting to decline due to WoW's explosion. I am considering coming back to casually play (probably end up getting addicted again though haha) but am wondering if the game is still populated enough to make it worth my while. What server would you suggest based on population? By the way I will be playing Hardcore :)

I think it should be a combination of magic/rare/set/unique. It's fun gambling for ammys/rings hoping you might find the rare +skill/fcr/fhr/resist mods. If they make it a combination of item types then it will hopefully create a mixture of item possibilities for players to make instead of the same old boring characters, shaft/arreats face/tgods/wartravs/.... and so on. That's my opinion on the matter :) Hope you find it interesting

I really hope that blizzard will give us a chance to practice duel without creating sc chars :/ Ofcourse on ladder lose=death it's 100% sure.

Yeah, maybe they can implement a limit per character per day to keep people from only playing fun duels and avoiding ladder all together.

    2) Risk-Reward - Risking your character so people you don't know nor care about can view your rank on a ladder? Pardon my language but that is crap... I would be extremely upset if they integrated the honor/arena point system used in WOW, I guarantee that people will find a way to abuse it and farm epic items. Only possible option would be that characters are automatically unlocked, meaning even if the opponent leaves after death you would still be able to loot all items you want.

    4) Overpower Characters - There is no dominating class/build that can conquer all, at least I would hope, that is the reason that people play different class/builds. What happens if your character build is matched up against a class/build that has an innate advantage over you, using Diablo II PvP as an example - A descent Sorc > Any char without an enigma, the sorc may not have any KO power but in an arena with no option of leaving or exiting all they would have to do is kite, hit, kite, hit rinse and repeat until game over..especially with the lack of health or rejuvenation potions? I highly doubt someone would risk their character to this just to gain a couple spots on the ladder..

    6) Viable builds - Certain builds that are excellent for PvE might be horrible for PvP, a summoning necro for example. Whereas certain builds for PvP might be horrible for PvE, a zerk baba for example. How will we find this out?

    2) They seem pretty intent on not making PvP a gear farming method. In hardcore even if you can loot dead enemies it won't be a gear farming method because the amount of people with top-end gear willing to risk it in arena will be tiny. So yea, the reward mostly would be bragging rights and recognition on a ladder. Is that so bad? It isn't like you got a better reward in D2 did you?

    4)
I think you may run into trouble here, and just have to avoid random matchmaking for 1v1 (if they even put it in). Everyone knows it will be pretty much impossible to balance for 1v1, and if you don't have any friends you trust to PvP with, then tough, you'll have to stick with arranged duels instead of random matchmaking.

    6) Trial and error? Softcore mode? I'm sure there will be oceans of information about pvp strategy coming out of the softcore folks very quickly after the game is released.

    2) Very good news! Hopefully as time goes on and items enter the market people will be willing to risk them.
    Very good point!
    4) Agreed!
    6) That is true, but in my experience softcore pvp builds differ from hardcore pvp builds. Softcore players never had to worry about survivability like we do. I guess time will teach in this case, I am hoping that they allow "fun" duels - offering no ladder recognition but a place to practice and tweak your character build around until you feel confident enough to enter ladder arena. This might also boost the amount of potential duelers in hardcore, building a sort of false confidence in them.

    Thank you for the feedback!

you're right, there's no reason to pick sides. but when someone just comes in and starts calling a kid to everyone that uses potions, and says that "you're not hardcore enough", it's just ridiculous. honestly. vladDracul, you're so hardcore you should have your own mode, with a an even harder core than hardcore. i'll let you pick the name for it.

on topic, i would say that giving each player in a 1v1 HC PvP fight 1 or 2 potions would be good for the game, I for one don't want to spend tens of hours on a character to have it die in a 20 or 30 second match. if it's a couple of minutes (or more), at least you get a good fight out of him before he dies. plus, since the number of pots is so small and everyone has the same number, the playing field remains level, and it doesn't turn into a potion fest.
You say there is no reason to pick sides yet you hop all over healing in a duel. You are the player that ruins dueling because you simply can't hack it and require assistance to even live beyond the 10 second mark.
I get bashed for giving my opinion which is obviously to promote people actually being good at the game and you guys just sit there and dickride running, hiding, and healing. Go play WoW if you can't PvP where everything is auto or stick to PvM.

Again, they already have health globes which is so wrong on so many levels why ruin it more with health pots. How are you gonna like it when the guy you just destroyed runs away and heals to full life and gets that lucky crit hit and kills you? Did you deserve to lose? I don't think so, then again I guess you guys are the kids running away and getting the lucky hit so it doesn't matter much does it?

I apologize for bashing you in your first couple threads, but the way you came about making your point you can't really blame me..
Why does someone that heals in a hardcore duel = someone that can't hack it? I, along side all others that dueled in D2 non-ladder, used a belt full of full rejuvenations.
Nowhere did I state that running and hiding was okay, I simply said potions should be implemented in D3 arena pvp. As far as I can tell from the videos released, running and hiding wont be an option anymore. The duels will be contained in a much smaller local unlike the duels in D2 where you had the entire wilderness to run and hide.

I do agree that health globes are a horrible idea for hardcore arena pvp, they have the potential to change the outcome of the entire duel because the player was lucky enough to be next to the health globe as it spawns. If you allowed the player to run away while his health potion slowly heals him back to full health then hell yes you deserve to lose!
I should have clarified in the original post that the potions I was talking about are rejuvenation potions, health potions provide little to no health and were a waste of belt space in D2 dueling.

I would completely 100% agree with you if this thread was about softcore pvp but it isn't. Duelers using rejuvenation potions doesn't reduce the skill level by any means, in fact you could argue that it increases skill level in many levels. Adding different factors to dueling; managing potions, countering players potion usage, and timing nukes by adapting to a players playing style. The way I am interpreting your point is, no potions = more skill. I don't really see how this is, in my opinion no potions = less skill, every top dueler would be the exact same build - i.e. the character build that has the biggest/hardest hit. If potions are implemented it would introduce much more strategy and much less luck.
    You say -
How are you gonna like it when the guy you just destroyed runs away and heals to full life and gets that lucky crit hit and kills you? Did you deserve to lose? I don't think so, then again I guess you guys are the kids running away and getting the lucky hit so it doesn't matter much does it?
Can't the same be said if no potions existed, minus the running away and healing?
What happens when some undergeared player relying on a heavy hitting weapon runs in gets 2 crits in a row and leaves you jaw-dropped wondering what the hell happened? I am worried that without potions all that will happen is people will throw on some cruddy armor, a big ass weapon and rely on crits with no worry of dying because all they lost was a semi-descent weapon.

Before you go crazy and troll take a minute to think about it, I can't believe that I am completely crazy thinking this..Again I apologize for the earlier bashing and hope that we can continue with a more civil debate - I do enjoy your opposing thoughts and views.

    Thank you
