I called it. I win.
No, only one game this year. I guarantee it.

Its seems to me more and more that these quotes they put on the picture might actually mean something, they fit pretty well together. What they mean i don;t know. Not that it matters anymore, just 22 or so more hours.
More like 34-38 hours left. -

Right about what? You aren't one of those idiots that thinks its going to be the new WoW expansion are you? -
May 17, 2007goodguy8705 posted a message on Blizzard Posts Teaser Timeline!Posted in: NewsQuote from "oaph" »The fact of the matter is most gaming companies have more than one project in the works at any one time. My gf works at EA, and apparently they have like 5 or 6 different titles in steady progress. Even Flagship Studios, a newer company with a painfully smaller development crew than Blizzard has two games in the works.
EA also happens to be made up of many divisions and is probably the largest game development in the industry. Also, look at the quality of their titles. They are horribly buggy and usually pretty uninteresting. Also, Flagship is working on Hellgate, which is near completion and Mythos which is in alpha. That's hardly really working on two games. Mythos is hardly even a game really. It's got shitty graphics and probably plays like every other rpg out there and that in my opinion doesn't take a lot of effort.
@Speculation:
You guys realize randomly throwing together quotes and WANTING to believe won't change the fact that it's StarCraft 2. If you guys want to get your hopes up and be crushed then thats cool with me but what you should have done is what I did. I started playing Blizzard games when the The Lost Vikings came out and have enjoyed every single one of their games since. To be honest, I like starcraft just as much as I like Diablo so in all reality, no matter which they announce I will be equally happy. Simply because I know that if it's StarCraft, I get to play . If it's Diablo 3, well then I get to play Diablo 3 and I have Company of Heroes. I'm set either way. -

now they have tasted the milk that they get from the WoW CashCow, I don't think they'll go back to free... and paying subscriptions for games isn't the route I want the industry to go down, so I wouldn't buy it (not that would make any difference to the profit margins of blizz like.. but hey)
Diablo 3 wont be subscription based plus it doesn't matter since that's not what they are announcing anyways. -

The move to a 3D engine doesn't mean that the animations and spell effects won't be as pretty. The spell effects for one will look a lot better using the tech of today instead of the tech of 2000. Shader model 3.0, bump mapping, normal mapping and all the other techs would lead to an impressive Diablo style game if done right. Animations can be amazing as well. Titan Quest looks fantastic and has all the newer techs. While I like Titan Quest, I think with some revision and modifications, Blizzard could use the engine with amazing success. They won't because they use their own engines but still. 3D doesn't mean it won't be as pretty. -
May 16, 2007goodguy8705 posted a message on Blizzard Posts Teaser Timeline!Posted in: NewsQuote from "xtremecanefan" »I don't think announcing two games is that doubtful. They would have two seperate teams working independently of each other since both games are un related. I think its fine announcing them both at the same time, and then maybe release them 6 months or so apart. I would probably buy both, and im sure alot of other big blizzard fans would as well.
As for CoH being the only good RTS, it is true that it is loads of fun and a great use of the Ragdoll. But i would add C&C 3 to the list of good RTS's. I find that game very fun, only problem is its an EA game so it naturally rapes resources.
C&C 3 is'nt a good game. It's not innovative. It's pretty but thats about it. The only staying power it has is the fact that it is easily modified. And it's not even a resource hog. What system's do the people here have that they have hard time with games like C&C3. Save up $800 (not hard) and build a system that can play any game out there (also not hard). -
May 16, 2007goodguy8705 posted a message on Blizzard Posts Teaser Timeline!@Multiple games being announced:Posted in: News
I seriously doubt that. Announcing two major titles at one time will cause there teams to be under tremendous pressure. They would have to cut corners in production and this could lead to a poorly designed, uninteresting game. I'd much rather have them focus on one game now and another when the first is near release. Order of games doesn't matter to me.
@Announcement:
Let's face it, there just aren't any great RTS's out currently. The only one that I played that actually kept me interested for more than a few days was Company of Heroes. If you have a beefy system, I HIGHLY advise you check it out. Other than that, nothing in the last few years has really had runaway success or staying power. Releasing an RTS would be great for the gaming market. As for RPG's, there have been tons out recently are that I would consider pretty good. Two Worlds comes out in 14 days and that game imo is shitloads of fun. Think Oblivion and Gothic 3 with darker, more arcade gameplay. Titan Quest was a big success commercially, Sacred 2 is in development, the sequel to Divine Divinity just moved into full on production (Divine Divinity is arguably one of the best isometric rpg's to ever grace this Earth and if you haven't played it you must go buy it. It can be had for $5 now. Stay away from Beyond Divinity though because they totally fucked that one up). Fact is, the action oriented RPG market is saturated with good titles while the RTS genre is seriously lacking. Blizzard will be well recieved either way but an RTS just makes more sense. God knows they've had a long enough time to come up with innovative ideas.
I'd be willing to bet a large sum of money on SC2. Any takers?
Also, towards the person who posted that lame video claiming it was me, grow up loser. Talk to me in real-time if you've got something to say.

I still don't understand why people think this is a big hint. I wish Blizzard had just used a flat background so this kind of this crap wouldn't happen. -
May 16, 2007goodguy8705 posted a message on Blizzard Posts Teaser Timeline! For analyzing images, you guys aren't very observant.Posted in: News
If you look at all the backgrounds, you will see that the pattern is mirrored. The edges are mirrored while the middle contains a image from the game series.
Whoever circled the top right "face" is wrong because there is a mirrored "face" in the other corner. Also, the "face" is not a face. -
May 16, 2007goodguy8705 posted a message on Blizzard Posts Teaser Timeline!Posted in: NewsQuote from "Jetrall" »There was also a Deckard Cain quote for the first Diablo game. And there was a quote for Starcraft. Think maybe they might be using Cain twice, so they can hit us with a new Cain quote for D3?
They used Cain twice because there were two diablo games. Starcraft had 1 so they can't use two quotes. There are no secret clues. -

Also i realize that blizzard may be playing with our minds and i probably should have stuck a "my opinion is" in front of my theory of blizzard addressing sc2 in the "future"
Don't apologize. I didn't take offense to a single word you said. -

Anyways it doesnt matter, we speculated years on end, these 3 days wont make a difference.
It wasnt the speculation that I was pissed about. It was the repetition pointing to the same things over and over and over when they had already been sorted and filed under "nothing". It makes for boring speculation.

I think they go up around 3 am est. At least thats when the StarCraft banner went up. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Just to clear this up as I'm still not 100% sure you understand the industry, US based automotive companies (GM, Chrysler, Ford) employ many foreigners while foreign based companies (Honda, Toyota, Hyundai) employ many Americans. Buying a Honda, a much better vehicle, is actually supporting the US economy, where as buying a Dodge or GM vehicle is supporting foreign economies. Truth is, people have all the facts backwards and because of this thing where people just believe what they are told to believe, very few ever actually get set straight. Hopefully, it's not too late for you.
0
You still don't understand how the auto industry works. The Challenger is not built in the US.
0
I'm not sure you understand how the car industry works.
Either way, you think you are only going to go two miles per day, but that will change as soon as you get a nice vehicle to drive.
0
Mileage > *. Gas prices are going back up in the near future.
0
I wouldn't count on that.
0
How on Earth are you going to pay for a new car? What about insurance?
I'm not trying to start a fight, but this means one of two things. Either you are just dreaming about something that is never going to happen, or your parents are spoiling you. Both cases are terrible, with the second being a lot worse. You might have this idea that people that see you driving around are going to think you're cool, but you will get little to no respect in a vehicle like this at your age.
The insurance on a new sports car for someone under 25-26 is going to be a over $2000-4000+ per year. Under 18 is going to be insane.
0
Either way, Unless you're older than 26, I wouldn't get either.
0
Probably the same reason I am.

Good news for you though, you don't have to worry about getting my opinion anymore.

As for the video card, I personally would look at 4850's and 4870's. I have a 4870 and it's rock solid and will handily take care of Diablo 3. If you're dead set on Nvidia chips, go with a 260, but then I would say you would need a mandatory PSU upgrade.
I honestly would hole off a month and build then. I just wouldn't be satisfied with that system,
0
If you plan on doing no overclocking whatsoever, the PSU should be fine.
Other than that, it looks okay. I can't really recommend buying a budget system, but I've always gone big or gone home.
