posted a message on Beta Ending Tonight, Inferno Unbeaten, Blue Posts, Portrait Contest Closed, and Curse Roundup
It's weird. I'm starting to wonder if Inferno will actually be worth what's sounding like the abysmal slow and difficult (read: frustrating kind of difficult, not "overcoming a good challenge" difficult) process of getting through it. It seems like the strategy will boil down to, get as far as you can, getting any upgrades you can, then start over (or earlier), and try to progress further than you got before - repeat to infinity. But, what is the tradeoff for dying repeatedly? One piece of gear per 50, 100, more deaths (just spitballin' numbers)? And, will the gear be absolutely that much better? It's obviously not for everyone - I definitely want to attempt it, but I'm beginning to think that neither I nor my patience will last very long.

posted a message on Class Spotlight - The Wizard
Like others, I feel like this video makes the Wizard seem underwhelming and less powerful. It was just weird to see her have to set up a lot of things - run in, then Frost Nova, then Wave of Force, then run away (or just stand there and make snarky comments - which I actually kinda like). Or, Meteor, then run in and Wave of Force. Or shoot a bunch of stuff with multiple spells, then run in and wave of force. (Wave of Force builds incoming...) And, it didn't help for the narrator to basically say, "If she runs out of Arcane Power, she's kinda screwed." Also, compared to the Demon Hunter, the other truly ranged class, the wizard seemed to be constantly surrounded or within melee range of everything. I know that will change between players, but, without teleport, it didn't seem like it was possible to get away and actually be a ranged class.

It's not my favorite class, but playing it throughout the beta was really fun. Looking at the variety in her later spells and thinking of the types of awesome builds you can put together looks awesome, so I'll definitely get to her eventually.

My favorite part is where it appears that Tyrael is kicking the ass of Imperius.

Ohh and the explosion towards the ends - if you pause it just right - it looks like Cain and Leah getting blown back - not sure where they are though, certainly not in the Cathedral from the Beta.

Yeah, they're in the cathedral - that's from the opening cinematic they released a while back.

I like the revision Ruppgu put up. This is definitely the type of build I'd like to test while leveling to my "planned build."

Spirit walk I will never use (unless it gives a speed bonus)
Spirit barrage seems to suck as well, 108 mana for 190% damage while poison dart deals 140% damage for 10 mana.

Well, it's 190% instant as physical vs 100% + 40% dot as poison, so there's your tradeoff. That said, I still don't like the look of Spirit Barrage. Others I probably won't use except to test out for fun, or they just won't fit in my planned build:

    Spirit Walk
    Hex
    Horrify
    Big Bad Voodoo
Haunt may also prove useless on regular monsters since it takes 12 seconds to do full damage.

My finals are the week before. However, I'm taking the GMAT on May 14th. Great timing, but I still find it hard to concentrate. In fact, wtf am I doing on here?!

posted a message on So, US 9hrs after EU?
I don't mind Europe being ahead - I just would like to play the game at my ACTUAL midnight, not 2 or 3 am. I doubt it's possible for Blizzard to launch it in individual US timezones...oh wait, every other game that comes out does that exact thing (I KNOW - not every game has a digital version, etc etc - LET ME WHINE!) Oh well, que sera sera.

posted a message on US Servers go live at 12:01 a.m. PDT, EU servers will go live at 00:01 CEST
It's not like this is a new way for Blizzard to do these things, but when I go get a game at midnight (on a console, for instance), I get to come home and immediately play it. I know the server structures and development blah blah blah are completely different, but it just seems weird to have it live in Europe 9 hours before and then NOT acknowledge the separate US timezones. Oh well, can't really do anything about it.

do you know if worldwide release will be midnight GMT? On May 15. Thanks in advance :)
No, each region will have its own launch time(which is the same time for everyone based on the US time TROLLOLOLOLOL, FUCK YOU :hehe:). We'll be announcing them soon. (Source)

    Fixed

By the way, that was awesome.

posted a message on Over 16 armor tiers for each class. "Yes."
Also, as far as armor models go, just looking on the official website shows that there are quite a bit more "unique" looking items (magical, rare, and legendary) that do not appear in the videos of the sets we've seen. And, at least on the website, some of them look quite awesome. Personally, I'm hoping there's a boat load of those types of armor in the game.

posted a message on the BEST synergy pve WD build, or prove me wrong otherwise :)
    Quote from Findulidas
Locust swarm being at 260 mana. Relying on sacrifice to do all damage isnt realistic. Although the orbs give mana I dont know if its enough at times. Perhaps this build would be better, allowing for much more damage spells to be used while there is nothing to be sacrificed: http://us.battle.net...YVjZ!UdW!aYbZZa or perhaps http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/witch-doctor#cdYVjZ!UdW!aZbZZa

So you swapped out Locust Swarm for arguably one of the most mana intensive spells. I am convinced that Firebats is a fantastic spell, but, as of right now, you're out of mana in roughly 4 seconds since it's a channeled spell. Of course your rune choice will more than likely change how you spam it (such as Hungry Bats, so you can cast less and they seek out enemies).

Anyway, for the OP's build, Sacrifice is not the focus. The purpose for Sacrifice in this build is to gain a little extra damage to explode your dogs to get health orbs (as well as potentially not kill some of those dogs) which would then proc Gruesome Feast to buff your damage. You would cast GotD or Mass Confusion and Locust Swarm once on packs of enemies, then pick everyone off with Darts, a super spammable spell, while Locust Swarm spreads. Thus, mana regen is of no real concern for this build. Granted, you would never want to skip it altogether, but for a build like this, it's non-essential.

posted a message on Open Beta changed my perception and view on classes.
    Pre-beta:
    1. Witch Doctor
    2. DH
    3. Barb
    4. Monk
    5. Wizard

    Post-beta
    1. Witch Doctor
    2. Barb
3 (tie, very close to second). Monk & DH
    ...
    ...
    ...
    5. Wizard

I think the thing that shocked me the most when I got into beta awhile ago was how insanely fun the Monk is to play. The gameplay videos (even the new ones with later skills) just look boring for some reason. But, once you start playing the class, it actually feels the most fun to me (very similar to the DH - not my absolute favorite, but it just feels very fun to play). Witch Doctor was always going to be number 1 for me. The Barb moved up on sheer brutality alone - going in, I didn't realize it would feel that powerful. And, then there's the poor Wizard. Maybe word-of-mouth will convince me to level a Wizard alt, but, for now, I hope she has strong arms, because she's going to be holding all my junk.

I want ALL the WD spells. Along with playing in the beta for awhile now, and my initial reaction to the class, this video has cemented my choice for WD. I like the range/melee diversity shown here also. Get in close to debuff, mass confuse, etc, then retreat and bomb everything to death. Fantastic.

posted a message on Why I think a 3 generator build is viable
Just found this topic browsing the forums, and I must say it's quite awesome. In defense of the macros, I feel like Blizzard designed the skills to be combo-ed, but there's likely only a small percentage of people (and computers/connections for that matter) that could actually perform the combos that fast. It's more like the macro is a matter of efficiency as opposed to taking advantage of a part of the game. Also, this is the only thing I see that I would use a macro for in the entire game thus far. Now, a question:

I'm not terribly good at programming/making macros and such, so I was wondering the way you determine the delay based on your attack speed.
