    Ah! There we go...

Unlike the previous tiered difficulty system, though, players are not required to defeat the game on a lower setting in order to unlock a higher difficulty setting.

This is one of the things I was saying in my post from a few weeks ago. That they should let people play on any difficulty they choose, instead of requiring each difficulty to be played through individually. This way, players have more ways to customize the difficulty to how they want, and 3 additional difficulty settings than they had in the past...BUT they don't HAVE TO play through the entire game four whole times in order to unlock all the areas.

Very smart move. I like it, :-)

What can I say man, you called it.

I still think it's pointless change for the sake of change, but at least now the debates can end.

Only a slight degree, that's why I didn't pull the whole quote. Wasn't my idea, I just hinted on a tiny piece.

I was anticipating them keeping Monster Power, as an extra additional aspect of tuning difficulty, though if they're going to make it a six difficulty system, a ten tier system to fine tune seems like a lot. Plus, and I think this is key...

With six difficulty settings, it tends to offer more incentive for players to push themselves to a harder setting. With 10 Monster Power levels, people are more likely to find their "sweet spot". Like my Monk's sweet spot is MP7...he dies a little bit here and there, but for the most part, grinding and farming isn't stupidly frustrating and is very profitable. With fewer tiers of difficulty, I may have to sustain on a level that's a bit too easy for a bit, but that higher tier is still out there.

Meanwhile, it's more than only 3 that D1 and D2 had, where I could wallow forever in Nightmare and never get the items I'd need for Hell difficulty.

The FAQ states "Similar to the way the tiered settings and Monster Power work in Diablo III, higher difficulty levels present more powerful enemies who will potentially reward players with more powerful loot! Unlike the previous tiered difficulty system, though, players are not required to defeat the game on a lower setting in order to unlock a higher difficulty setting." This seems to imply that the new system will replace the current Normal, Nightmare, Hell, and Inferno modes, as well as the Monster Power system. This would mean refining what was previously 40 selectable difficulties into just 6.

Three more things they didn't mention in the massive recap:
    3, No teleport between ACTs
    http://diablo.incgam...between-ACT-etc)
Well that sucks, if this is accurate - gives players even less incentive to play the old non-random acts. Really hope to see cross-act waypoints someday, and an open world game mode that isn't tied to story progression.

posted a message on Scheduled Realm Maintenance, Console Version Was Almost a Twin-Stick Shooter, Official Support for Self-Found, Archon's 50 Milli
I think the game should just have four modes, rather than two. Hardcore with AH, Hardcore without AH, Softcore with AH, and Softcore without AH.

    Quote from VTurth

I would love to have modding in D3.

It would make up for blizzard lack of everything. They obviously can't do the work themselves it takes them forever to do anything.

Modding on PC would be awesome.

More maps, Skill trees, More weapons, monsters, pvp.. Skins.
Exactly. Modders won't have the same degree of exhaustive QA as Blizz, which allows them to publish stuff much more quickly. Mods were a lot of fun in D2, I wish the D3 devs would just embrace it. It would be great to have official development tools/an editor released by Blizzard, along with software similar to Steam Workshop to support the mod community. Hopefully someone will steal a D3 server from Blizzard sometime soon and release the files to the public...

If you can save it on an USB. You can edit the file.

Wait a few days, maybe only hours, after release and a "trainer" will be released.
Console games generally leak before their release, so it's possible a trainer will be available before the release date. I don't imagine it would take too long though.

I'm personally for modding if it enhances the longevity of a game. And in Diablo 3's case, that would definitely be the case considering the current content level and how unrewarding the loot system is.
I really hope that, since the console versions can be played completely offline, Diablo 3 will finally see some mods. I don't care for duping/cheating, but I'd like people to mod Diablo 3 at least to the extent that Diablo 2 was modded. I imagine mods on console would not be especially popular though, as it would require a console that could run unsigned code. Good quality user-made content can add a lot to a game.

i dont know how good this is for the fate of the PC version! :(
Well, don't forget that the console version has excluded some of the much hated features found in the PC version. The console version is better really...

I really hated this write up. I'm excited about what's to come, but it's just SO. MUCH. FLUFF. Ah, well, here's to a future where the average legendary drop doesn't make you suicidal.
It wasn't really intended to be an informative post. It was an introduction to the new game director.

I hope this means there will be a modding community for the PS3 game. It would also be nice if this could somehow help lead to an unofficial offline PC version & mods.

Wish people with the CE could download the launcher somehow without buying the game twice. Not only do I have to wait for GameStop to open at 10am but I have to sit here and wait for the launcher to stop being slow.

You do realise you can get the launcher on the following website (other regions change enUS in the url to your own region):

    http://eu.media.batt...-downloader.exe

Thanks! I also purchased CE and was wondering how to obtain a copy of the digital predownload.

I would really like to see consensual world PvP; it could be implemented as duels or some mutual toggle. I haven't seen any reasonable arguments against this feature.

posted a message on Armor Tiers for each class make the game look too generic.
Speaking strictly of the tiered armor sets, I find they are mostly boring and extremely disappointing. It almost makes me not want to play the game since I know I will constantly be working my way to progress through the various unappealing armor sets, but I guess I don’t really like D3’s visuals at all anyway so it will have to make up for it in gameplay (and hopefully good audio). Some of the various sets pieces seem to have WoW, anime, and/or Asian influences that don’t suit Diablo. The armor sets seem especially uninspired, in a game which lacks unique visual style. I'm sure plenty of people disagree with me, and there's no reason for you to have to share my opinion.

posted a message on Easy to Use Filter That Makes Diablo III Look More Like Diablo
I had seen this on the D3 forums quite a while back too, when Pyloneer/Axecutioner posted it. I thought the screenshots he posted were a little too colourless though. I'm not a big fan of the current look of D3 though. It's not that I don't like the fact that it has colour, I just find too many areas are glowing with green/blue/etc.. Yes Diablo II had colour, but when you went somewhere like, let’s say the cathedral, the whole place wasn't drowned out by blue or green tones everywhere. It’s just very unnatural colours for lighting and I personally hate it. I haven’t looked at all the configurations you posted, but hopefully one of them will be what I’m looking for. Otherwise, I’m sure I can find something that will work for me.

posted a message on To co-op or not to co-op?
I play more multiplayer games than anything. Local co-op is actually probably my favourite way to play, or local vs.. I play online multiplayer too though. If it's on a console, I like when they offer local split screen which can also go online simultaneously. A lot of the time when I play online games, it's primarily with someone who is actually in the same house as me anyway. I do sometimes play online with friends or family who live pretty far away though too. I haven't really made any online friends in any games either because I'm usually already playing with people I know. Split screen multiplayer and LAN parties are my top choise I guess. Anyway, applying this to D3.

I'll probably play a lot of Diablo III co-op with my brother, who is my roommate, and I guess some others if they happen to join our games. He games a lot and is likely to make some in-game friends who will play with us at times. None of either of our friends game much, and certainly not PC games, so they won't be joining us. We'll probably do a rather slow, and thorough playthrough. I don't think I would play D3 solo at all if it weren't for the followers. I'd like to give them a try, but that's about my only motivation to play solo.
