Apr 13, 2011To jake and Thander, I know that the 'general' bards suck but if you read the books you will see that the character is nicely done. Normally I hate the bard class with a passion but this one was done really really well. If you don't want to get into it than let me explain;Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
The character is primarily (as an attacker) is a swordsman, using swords, daggers and possibly bows. If implemented into a game these would be the weapons allowed to be used and focused on. Not instruments or stuff.
Second, he has many 'vocal' attacks, he doesn't focus on buffs or debuffs though he does have them, he uses his bardic magic on the offensive, he slams the enemies with blasts of sound waves that shatter and crush them, controlling enemies, summoning, as well as the more standard buffs, debuffs and healing.
and AriX, not saying or asking for them to add it to this game, not even into the expac. I am just saying that the author created the bard class very well in his book and asking anyone else if they read the book or at least their opinion on this version of a bard and if a playable version of Byers's bard is interesting.
Apr 12, 2011Let's play a game :biggrin:Posted in: Off-Topic
Here's something that'll wake up all you people on the board and hopefully will have fun as well!
For those of you not familiar with the Corrupt a Wish game, we simply pick something and wish for something that we want from it. Then the replying post would grant the wish but corrupt it and ask for another wish. For example:
I wish for Diablo III to be released tomorrow
I am replied with:
Granted but all computers short out and are irreparable and no more can be made preventing you from ever actually playing it.
I wish for Diablo to be playable in D3.
(Game on!)
Apr 11, 2011actually, so much better than character, you should seriously read the book. It's worth it!Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
No one else got any comments or opinions on this? No one else reads unforgotten realms?
Apr 11, 2011- The spell actually reverses, speeding up the wizard and casting speed (sorry, Lich, thought of it too )Posted in: Wizard: The Ancient Repositories
- Spell actually speeds up time causing the monsters to age getting a decrease in attack in defense.
- Increases the size of the spell.
- Increases duration of the spell.
- After the spell is depleted it bursts outward doing slight damage and freezing (similar to a 'time stop') all the enemies caught in the blast for a few seconds.
Apr 11, 2011Yo, Raptor, you stole my idea, make a botanist class! Let em transform into a plant, each type depending on the situation. Want to trap your enemies? Turn into a snare of a thorn bush, heal your party with some magical fruit off of your magical fruit tree (beans are not fruits, nor do they grow on trees!), some actual damage? How about a venus fly/demonspawn of diablo trap. Trying to romance your girlfriend? Turn into a rose bush! Any situation the Prime evils can throw at you YOU. WILL. BE. PREPARED!Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
On a more serious note why not some shamanistic/druidic character but one who 'channels' the power of the animals through him as an attack. Say he would have an ability 'charge of the ox/rhino' and it would be a standard charge attack but the animation would be him engulfed in the ox/rhino essence, sorta a ephemeral ox/rhino ghost overlapping the character to show the animal essence. Have all of his attacks embrace some sort of animal. Eagle talon strike, Snake bite, Alligator bite, etc. And you can even give the class actual stat boosts or 'auras', might of the gorilla would boost his strength, dex of the monkey, or have auras or modes, berserk of the bear - go in a berserking rage for a few seconds, or a more permanent aura like skin of the tortoise - defense increase by x%.
The only problem in this is the fact that it would not have one specific niche, it would be the jack of all trades class and not unique in its own right, except less so than the D2 or WoW druid as it does not have a specific form that it takes to take on a role but only attacks.
On a more personal opinion, I love the druid class. Both in D2 and in Wow, I love the ability to have a 'swiss army knife' class that does everything in one (to a degree) and the limitedness of it was fine as I had more of what the others didn't except as in both cases I actually wanted MORE forms to take on and to be even if they had slight cross overs and less variation (though it should be different to some degree). So I would love a shape shifting druid class just give me MAOR!

There is an interesting character
Bareris Anskuld who is a standard fighter, practicing swordsmanship and such but before the events of the first book leaves off to go on an adventure as well as becoming a Bard and returning in the beginning of the book.
Normally I was never a fan of the bard class but the way the author creates the class really makes it interesting. Bareris primarily focuses on his swordsmanship but uses his voice as more than just 'buffs' to his team mates. The Bard's voice contains magical properties that can used offensively, as support (positively and negatively), as well as a restorative. Bareris's 'DD' Bard spell is a sort of shout that just is like a physical force that knocks over, shatters or just blasts enemies like a concussive blast, in a game this can be implemented as a general magical range attack. Many times throughout the stories he uses his songs to enhance his grace, speed and strength, I guess something more common among the bard class, he also uses his songs to send revitalizing energy through his body and his comrades healing their wounds, both physical and more. In certain points of the story Bareris used his Bard magic to do spells such as enabling him to understand and speak different languages, improve his disposition (according to the book by improving the mood of the target, making Bareris appear a bit taller, a bit darker complexion and a bit more handsome) and forms bonds with certain animals (such as his horse)- maybe not something really useful in a game such as Diablo but interesting nonethelss. His magic also allowed him to teleport, mind control (varying degrees, sometimes used in conjunction with improving his disposition) as well as other things littered across the book.
Whether or not a similar class is integrated anyone have their opinions on it? And even if not I think it is an interesting read that everyone should pick up.
Apr 6, 2011Hey guys, after quite a while of following DFans I decided to join you guys, then it took a while to actually find a name that wasn't taken <_< well, finally found one though still working on/looking fora good profile, hope I can contribute and be a valued member.Posted in: Introduction
Played DII a bit as a kid then a bit about a year or two ago so I might not be as familiar with it as the rest of you guys, a major Blizzard fan - one of the biggest inspirations of mine to start computer animation and game design (still in school for it though)- Go Starcraft!
Though I am biting my nails in anticipation of D3!!

So, for example, if you put an unattuned Rune into your Magic Missiles and it rolls an Indigo effect (which adds additional missiles per rank), if you later decide to take that Rune out, it will forever remain a Magic Missile splitting Rune, unusable in any other skill. Even this isn't completely set in stone though, as they've hinted that they might add a functionality to the Mystic to wipe effects off Runes.
Wont we be able to wipe effects over and over again until we get the perfect effects?
If it costs money and I'm feeling particularly unlucky one night and I need a crimson rune but it rolls an alabaster so I wipe for 10g (or whatever) it becomes an alabaster again, damn, another 10g to the enchanter, damn, gold, close but still not crimson, another 10g, alabaster again, wtf? 10g again, I NEED A DAMN CRIMSON.. I know its not that common, but there are 5 runes and there is a 20% of getting what you want each 'attunement' and sometimes it can be frustrating and costly. If it doesn't cost anything to unattune then that would be great and it would probably work out in my favor.
And you might say 'well, nox you can say the same thing about drop rates, you might need a crimson but the monsters keeping dropping golds and obsidians'. and that's true but 1- they might make certain monsters have a higher chance of dropping certain rune colors so you can specifically farm those guys, if not 2- having that rune in your hand and not having it turn into that crimson is A LOT more frustrating than just not finding one, having something so close yet so far is worse than not having it at all. but like I said, if its free or really cheap it might work out better as I won't have to search for one of every color and just reattune that one rune and just hope it what I want when I want it.
But my final words are REALLY not looking forward to the unattuned runes and though I find that random stat affixes will only drive people nuts finding the 'perfect' rune.
PS on a side note just realized that if they add both new features I hope a reattuning doesn't remove both the stat affix along with the rune type, say I get a perfect affix but the wrong rune I can just reattune just hoping for the correct rune type instead of shooting for a correct affix AS WELL (like I said there is a 20% of getting a correct rune which is something manageable when playing the slots but if they have MINIMUM 5 affixes that's another 20% so its 20% for the rune type AND 20% on the rune affix so that can become a real hell, and the number of affixes are more than that making it a lot harder to 'randomly' get that exact rune type AND affix). If anyone talks on the official forum can they please ask this question for me? Thanks
Jun 3, 2011I just think this was a publicity stunt, they did not hear our complaints nor care. They intentionally released a batch of rehashed pics knowing the fans would be pissed and than released this one so that 1) we, the fans would think that they are listening to us and 2) we would appreciate this picture so much more after receiving the last four.Posted in: News
May 22, 2011Wow, awesome. But as I played D2 a long time ago as a kid I really do not know much about Diablo in terms of lore.Posted in: News
It was mentioned in the beginning that there has been a battle between angels and demons since the beginning of time yet we don't know why, so technically we don't know who is REALLY the good guys or even the right side, for all we know it is the demons and hell who has been wronged in some way. Nor do we know what the winning side (if in deed there ever will be one) plans to do after the victory. Other than throw a party over the enemies corpses. Will they take over the opposing world? Enslavement? etc?
Also I remember that Lilith was fought in D2 (I think) but from the video, clearly she seems like a good character, she even seems more beneficial to humanity than her lover (forgot the angels name, Anerius?)
Also, it says that each side tried to coerce humanity into joining their own side yet each seemed to oppress humanity in their own way, demons through brutality and angels through harsh order and such (if I heard the video correctly), so why would humanity want to join either side? Neither sound like a good choice, the whole time your looking helping out the angels but are they really in our best interests? (Also relating to my first question).
Also not really a question but I thought it's interesting that I think nephalim might have came from a hebrew word nophal (or nephal) which means to fall or fell, and in this sense would mean The Fallen, not sure if blizzard knew that, though they probably did
May 19, 2011What the.. only one.. don't get me wrong, its nice, but honestly it looks extremely sketchy, like they said, 'oh, already time for a new one?' *draws something while listening to a song, then uploads it* there ya go.'Posted in: News
May 15, 2011Honestly, in my opinion I don't see a problem with this other than it is only useful for normal.Posted in: News
I don't think it is necessary for mp because it does what multiplayer does in sp mode, gives a friend to help you out. If anything I prefer to use mp anyway, usually player controlled characters are just plain better than NPCs anyway (think of the difficulty difference between PvP and PvE in any game).
And just for those times when I'm not online or not in the mood to be online (or with other people) I can still have a 'co-op' function and still help me out in the game. So technically they just made it a mp game even in sp, and if you don't want the extra help I am sure you can just not hire the follower.
Though the biggest issue is it not being useful in later difficulties, from a developing standpoint it would be wasteful on creating a whole mechanic that would be trashed soon after and from a playing standpoint just when the going gets tough and extra help would actually be useful my help just dies....

We actually got an exclusive confirmation on the items qualities and colors during diablocast ep. 5 which I have updated on our wiki here: http://www.diablowiki.com/Items_(Diablo_III)#Item_Quality
By Socket, there is a typo, it should say 'no' longer.. instead of longer, tried to edit it myself but don't see how.
Apr 20, 2011Scyber, being that you're so tight with Bash and he keeps answering you, and you said that the DH resource is being finished can you ask, or do you know if the other classes are 100% complete and if we can get ANY info on those? Also did they mention any resource globes and how and if they will be implemented?Posted in: News

Here on diablofans you get the news at first. Thanks for the passion and patience guys. I like reading new stuff from you!
I am really looking forward to the beginning of may. Hopefully they will announce the beta date. And I like the approach of Blizzard to hide all interesting stuff from us before releasing the game finally.
And if there is something about the facebook thing, we will know after ~175000 LIKES.

This website is going to drive me crazy.....
A metaphor perhaps....
So this girl says she wants to have sex with you, but you have to wait, and god will you, because she is what you have always wanted.
Years pass, and she is still stringing you along, but you know when you finally get it, it will be worth it.
In the time thats passed, she constantly is teasing you, a dirty text message here and there, and once you start losing hope, I naughty picture comes your way! OK WERE BACK IN BUSINESS!
But still, nothing, just the teasing, and occasional visual to keep you leashed.
It's been 10 years now, and the teasing has become more consistent, more often, and promises of the day soon.....
During times like these, you often hit the bar, swallow your pride, and go for the average because it will hold you over for now. But damnit Blizzard! Lose the Chastity belt and let her free!!!!
Were talking about video games by the way......
nice methapor of the wait of Diablo III
You said information = girl is teasing you, final game = you having ... with her but what about the beta...something between?
Foreplay/make out session + a bit more than that but no sex?
