    To jake and Thander, I know that the 'general' bards suck but if you read the books you will see that the character is nicely done. Normally I hate the bard class with a passion but this one was done really really well. If you don't want to get into it than let me explain;

The character is primarily (as an attacker) is a swordsman, using swords, daggers and possibly bows. If implemented into a game these would be the weapons allowed to be used and focused on. Not instruments or stuff.

Second, he has many 'vocal' attacks, he doesn't focus on buffs or debuffs though he does have them, he uses his bardic magic on the offensive, he slams the enemies with blasts of sound waves that shatter and crush them, controlling enemies, summoning, as well as the more standard buffs, debuffs and healing.

and AriX, not saying or asking for them to add it to this game, not even into the expac. I am just saying that the author created the bard class very well in his book and asking anyone else if they read the book or at least their opinion on this version of a bard and if a playable version of Byers's bard is interesting.

    Let's play a game

Here's something that'll wake up all you people on the board and hopefully will have fun as well!

For those of you not familiar with the Corrupt a Wish game, we simply pick something and wish for something that we want from it. Then the replying post would grant the wish but corrupt it and ask for another wish. For example:

I wish for Diablo III to be released tomorrow

    I am replied with:

Granted but all computers short out and are irreparable and no more can be made preventing you from ever actually playing it.

I wish for Diablo to be playable in D3.

    (Game on!)

actually, so much better than character, you should seriously read the book. It's worth it!

No one else got any comments or opinions on this? No one else reads unforgotten realms?

    - The spell actually reverses, speeding up the wizard and casting speed (sorry, Lich, thought of it too :P )

    - Spell actually speeds up time causing the monsters to age getting a decrease in attack in defense.

    - Increases the size of the spell.

    - Increases duration of the spell.

    - After the spell is depleted it bursts outward doing slight damage and freezing (similar to a 'time stop') all the enemies caught in the blast for a few seconds.

Yo, Raptor, you stole my idea, make a botanist class! Let em transform into a plant, each type depending on the situation. Want to trap your enemies? Turn into a snare of a thorn bush, heal your party with some magical fruit off of your magical fruit tree (beans are not fruits, nor do they grow on trees!), some actual damage? How about a venus fly/demonspawn of diablo trap. Trying to romance your girlfriend? Turn into a rose bush! Any situation the Prime evils can throw at you YOU. WILL. BE. PREPARED!

On a more serious note why not some shamanistic/druidic character but one who 'channels' the power of the animals through him as an attack. Say he would have an ability 'charge of the ox/rhino' and it would be a standard charge attack but the animation would be him engulfed in the ox/rhino essence, sorta a ephemeral ox/rhino ghost overlapping the character to show the animal essence. Have all of his attacks embrace some sort of animal. Eagle talon strike, Snake bite, Alligator bite, etc. And you can even give the class actual stat boosts or 'auras', might of the gorilla would boost his strength, dex of the monkey, or have auras or modes, berserk of the bear - go in a berserking rage for a few seconds, or a more permanent aura like skin of the tortoise - defense increase by x%.

The only problem in this is the fact that it would not have one specific niche, it would be the jack of all trades class and not unique in its own right, except less so than the D2 or WoW druid as it does not have a specific form that it takes to take on a role but only attacks.

On a more personal opinion, I love the druid class. Both in D2 and in Wow, I love the ability to have a 'swiss army knife' class that does everything in one (to a degree) and the limitedness of it was fine as I had more of what the others didn't except as in both cases I actually wanted MORE forms to take on and to be even if they had slight cross overs and less variation (though it should be different to some degree). So I would love a shape shifting druid class just give me MAOR!

In the 'The Haunted Lands' trilogy by Richard Lee Byers:

    http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Unclean
    http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Undead_(novel)
    http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Unholy

    There is an interesting character
    http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Bareris_Anskuld

Bareris Anskuld who is a standard fighter, practicing swordsmanship and such but before the events of the first book leaves off to go on an adventure as well as becoming a Bard and returning in the beginning of the book.

Normally I was never a fan of the bard class but the way the author creates the class really makes it interesting. Bareris primarily focuses on his swordsmanship but uses his voice as more than just 'buffs' to his team mates. The Bard's voice contains magical properties that can used offensively, as support (positively and negatively), as well as a restorative. Bareris's 'DD' Bard spell is a sort of shout that just is like a physical force that knocks over, shatters or just blasts enemies like a concussive blast, in a game this can be implemented as a general magical range attack. Many times throughout the stories he uses his songs to enhance his grace, speed and strength, I guess something more common among the bard class, he also uses his songs to send revitalizing energy through his body and his comrades healing their wounds, both physical and more. In certain points of the story Bareris used his Bard magic to do spells such as enabling him to understand and speak different languages, improve his disposition (according to the book by improving the mood of the target, making Bareris appear a bit taller, a bit darker complexion and a bit more handsome) and forms bonds with certain animals (such as his horse)- maybe not something really useful in a game such as Diablo but interesting nonethelss. His magic also allowed him to teleport, mind control (varying degrees, sometimes used in conjunction with improving his disposition) as well as other things littered across the book.

Whether or not a similar class is integrated anyone have their opinions on it? And even if not I think it is an interesting read that everyone should pick up.

    Discuss.

Hey guys, after quite a while of following DFans I decided to join you guys, then it took a while to actually find a name that wasn't taken <_< well, finally found one though still working on/looking fora good profile, hope I can contribute and be a valued member.

Played DII a bit as a kid then a bit about a year or two ago so I might not be as familiar with it as the rest of you guys, a major Blizzard fan - one of the biggest inspirations of mine to start computer animation and game design (still in school for it though)- Go Starcraft!

Though I am biting my nails in anticipation of D3!!
