posted a message on Anyone studying or in the animation/modeling/visual effects field?
I live in New York and learning about modeling and animation, using programs such as Maya and 3DS MAX (want to pick up blender but didn't have a chance yet). Should be heading to graduate school shortly as well as looking for a job (in this field). I just wanted to inquire from the fanbase if anyone is in the field already or looking into it as well and possibly discuss some things or even just to know who else is in it, find some common grounds other than Diablo :P

Also if it is no problem if I can inquire a bit about the trade, as some questions if it is no problem to you.

    Thanks :)

So, for example, if you put an unattuned Rune into your Magic Missiles and it rolls an Indigo effect (which adds additional missiles per rank), if you later decide to take that Rune out, it will forever remain a Magic Missile splitting Rune, unusable in any other skill. Even this isn't completely set in stone though, as they've hinted that they might add a functionality to the DiabloWiki.com - Mystic Mystic to wipe effects off Runes.

Wont we be able to wipe effects over and over again until we get the perfect effects?

If it costs money and I'm feeling particularly unlucky one night and I need a crimson rune but it rolls an alabaster so I wipe for 10g (or whatever) it becomes an alabaster again, damn, another 10g to the enchanter, damn, gold, close but still not crimson, another 10g, alabaster again, wtf? 10g again, I NEED A DAMN CRIMSON.. I know its not that common, but there are 5 runes and there is a 20% of getting what you want each 'attunement' and sometimes it can be frustrating and costly. If it doesn't cost anything to unattune then that would be great and it would probably work out in my favor.
And you might say 'well, nox you can say the same thing about drop rates, you might need a crimson but the monsters keeping dropping golds and obsidians'. and that's true but 1- they might make certain monsters have a higher chance of dropping certain rune colors so you can specifically farm those guys, if not 2- having that rune in your hand and not having it turn into that crimson is A LOT more frustrating than just not finding one, having something so close yet so far is worse than not having it at all. but like I said, if its free or really cheap it might work out better as I won't have to search for one of every color and just reattune that one rune and just hope it what I want when I want it.

But my final words are REALLY not looking forward to the unattuned runes and though I find that random stat affixes will only drive people nuts finding the 'perfect' rune.

PS on a side note just realized that if they add both new features I hope a reattuning doesn't remove both the stat affix along with the rune type, say I get a perfect affix but the wrong rune I can just reattune just hoping for the correct rune type instead of shooting for a correct affix AS WELL (like I said there is a 20% of getting a correct rune which is something manageable when playing the slots but if they have MINIMUM 5 affixes that's another 20% so its 20% for the rune type AND 20% on the rune affix so that can become a real hell, and the number of affixes are more than that making it a lot harder to 'randomly' get that exact rune type AND affix). If anyone talks on the official forum can they please ask this question for me? Thanks

    posted a message on Runes
Yea, this is my biggest worry as well. Though I'll admit I'm a bit confused on how it will come out in the end. I like to get things myself more or less and runes in itself (to get level 7) will be a pain in the butt to farm, so after all those hours and days or weeks of getting a lvl 6 then 7 rune you FINALLY get it but its a crappy buff, what a waste(dont forget that you'll need for every skill and, possibly different types for each skill and if you can 'respec' as often as you would like then that's a lot of runes).

Also what did Jay mean by it will be an 'unattuned' rune? That it won't become an 'alabaster' rune till after I equip it to something and I won't know what it will turn into till afterwards? So I can get 20 runes but if I need an obsidian but they turn to alabaster to crimson to everything else but obsidian (and don't forget the stat buff as well) then things will get really crappy...

    I second that

You believe everything you read, that's your problem.

You would have to be crushed by a falling bathtub to be told otherwise.

I should be able to come onto this forum and read legitimate D3 news, not people moaning about unconfirmed leaked news

    I second that.

I'm assuming no. I think most skills and traits only affect that character unless specifically mentioned. And besides every character has a 'Lucky' trait.

    1 word; Leach!

Blizzard has been blabbering about keeping it fast paced and promoting action. What better way to do this than implement a leach system? Once you hit/kill monsters your respective resource regains, thus you must kill to be able to kill more!

Isn't that exactly the Barbarians resource system?

Also, in regards to exploiting infinite resource systems, (I know you don't want to hear any comparisons) but in Wow, a warrior could run through a crowd of mobs (the more the better as he would get more hits onto him) and all those hits onto him (as just the actual strike builds up rage, not damage, so it wouldn't matter if it was 100 weak mobs hitting for one 1hp but the fact that the war just received 100 hits)would build up his rage near infinitely, if the mobs were any stronger any healer can just toss some heals to keep up his hp but he would still have all that rage- I remember I would Offtank multiple mobs and when doing so I can spam skills to my hearts content because of my unlimited rage.

I know that Diablo differs than warcraft 100% and that there is no 'tank' nor 'healing' class but with high enough defense and - doesn't the monk have a healing spell- healing spells used properly, he would have some prolonged resource that can be exploited...

ah, I hear, it just sounded like you saying the rune effects like they were facts, especially the way you named each rune color instead of just the attribute. it would be awesome if we actually had that much information.

To be honest, the reason why my budget is so small is because I work with wholesale computer parts and most parts (from the hard drive, RAM even the operating system) I can myself, my biggest question, is especially that you can't really build a laptop like you would a desktop is whats a recommended computer make and model and a good CPU and graphics to get with it. Those are my biggest costs.

posted a message on What we know of resource systems?
Just so I can fully understand, (so far as we all don't know the finality of the things to begin with, but from what I can understand,

Bar has the cliched anger/rage resource - gets hit or lands hits nets him some rage points which he can spend for greater attacks. out of battle, decay. not comparing to mock or say anything, but just asking whether this is similar to the WoW warrior resource?

Wizard starts at full and keeps replenishing after a short period of time- almost instantly. is this like the Wow Rogue?

Monk takes in and deals damage to accrue essence to use higher skills. except it doesn't decay like barb and he has the combo system. so wouldn't this be a but like the Wow War - rage and the rogues combo system hybrid? not so bad..

Witch doctor got mana, pretty self explanatory

Demon Hunter, nothing really solid except that she has hate & discipline, Im assuming ones more for spammable type skills and one for more longer CD ones or at least lesser used ones (a player would more likely spam fan of knives or molten arrow that say a trap).
I can think of a quiver (or magazine for you modern folks) type bar. say hold 10 arrows/bolts/rounds and each skill in the more spammable tree would consume said amount but when it is depleted they hunter goes on a little 'reload' pause (obviously not the length it would take to reload a real crossbow, it can be .5 sec or 1 sec or even 5, idc, just an idea.

than he would have the quiver to full. so like grenade costs 1 'bolt', fan of knives are 3, and molten arrows are 5. so he could cast Grenade, FoK, MA, Grenade than wait 1 second, reload, and continue.. just an idea I've had, even when we were speculating resources for the wizard.

as for the other resource the DH would have, I really don't know, maybe something like the death knight and his rune stones? he has a set amount and that's the type of trap you can set out but it changes based on different things you do.

Anything that I got wrong and needs to be cleared up? or just any more speculation? (whatcha think of my reload mech? not talking about balance though, I know a specific time is needed to prevent it from being OP or UP, just talking about the concept of it)

posted a message on Inner Sanctuary in PvP
from many pvp fights that I have seen, mere seconds can change the game for the good or bad. if you can quickly pop a 7 second 'shield' around the globe, even for only one second, you might have ruined your opponents only chance of a comeback. and during that 8 seconds, I doubt you guys are having tea time. he's short on health (expecting that blocked up globe) so you can just finish him off easily.
