I will be trying PvP for a week or two but I won't be coming back until items are revamped and made fun again.

I know it will never happen, but why can't I socket something in that gives me a chance to shoot plague toads out on hit, so while I'm whrilwinding through hordes of monsters I'm also throwing out "insert another class spell" here.

We need over the top items, sockets, auras, etc. in order to make customization fun. It's fucking diablo for goodness sake. They over simplified and limited everything. Linear progression, auto stat allocation, gear that isn't class or build specific. What do they have against having fun over the top insane builds item combos ?

Anyways. Farewell from another random person with a useless post that will cause no real chance to a dying game.

Yes another one of these threads, by a person nobody knows or even cares about.

Leveled my WD to 60, farmed and farmed act 1 inferno and tried to theory craft.. tried to customize.. just couldn't get what I was expecting from D3.

Got my barb to 53.. even before Inferno i feel like only a few specs even work.. read forums, theory crafted, tried to customize... it just wasn't there.

The extremely bland items and lack of real customization has driven me away. I found myself searching the AH more than I was actually playing.. just looking for more Damage, Defense or Vitality gear.. because that's all there really is.

There were no fun sets to work towards, no runewords, no proccing other class spells, no auras, no real customization. Just a neverending quest to max 3 stats.

Don't get me wrong.. the gameplay / fighting in this game is fun and top notch... The challenge of inferno is there (if you like the whole kite or 1 shot crap) ...

...but the lack of true character customization just isn't worth devoting anymore time to this game.

Diablo is a gear driven game, but the gear has no effect on gameplay in Diablo 3 besides causing a little more damage or taking 1 or 2 more hits. It's just not fun.

Farewell ! See you in the next game!

posted a message on Worried PvP will be 1 shotting
I'd like to see some exact theory crafting numbers on this topic. On the official blizz forums one guy was claiming he could get up to 95% damage reduction on his monk.. but even 95% vs. a DH that can crit for 1 million self buffed.. it's a one shot battle. Either the DH hits first or the monk gets past the first round of CC and hits first.

My first 60 was a witch doctor. Even with bad gear for a level 60 my Haunt does 575% weapon damage over 12 seconds + 288% over 2 seconds. This ONE dot alone will do over 300k damage over the course of its life (without crits or buffs). So no buffs and no crits, I will do 12,500 damage to a 95% reduction player. Then throw on unavoidable damage like Acid Cloud or spirit barrage... insane damage even vs. insanely geared players.

Now you take 3 vs 3 player battles, throw in buffs and everybody elses damage. Were looking at 5 second battles.

Does anybody know of a theory crafting spreadsheet?

After having two level 60s and watching tons of streams, if they don't plan to have different PvP mechanics for skills or damage reduction, we will see nothing more than 1 shotting pvp

I feel it will be like this...

First CC or First 1 shot crit wins.

We already have demon hunters who can crit for 1 million

Hell my witch doctor with bad gear can crit for almost 400k

Considering average health pools for REALLY GOOD geared players are 50k.. They would have to nerf damage over 75% to avoid 1 shot kills.

Let's not mention my WD can keep something CC'd almost 100% of the time as is. They would have to nerf CC durations at least 75% as well.

Hex, fear, confusion, thats 20 seconds of CC there.. Who can't die in 20 seconds?

    Thoughts?

You can switch to bats when you need to kite and change zombie wall to hex for a bit more CC on packs.

The overall design of the build is to farm larger packs, produce health globes, chain cast spells.

In a group thus far this build is doing really great.

Zombie wall, dogs and fetish are good distractions. rest of the stuff dies super fast. don't forget you instantly pick up health globes all over the map

This is also one of the version of the VQ build where you don't have to complain about always have 4 skills on cooldown... I mean you still have lots of skills on cooldown but the cooldowns get refreshed so fast it doesn't matter.

This is a really great twist on the VQ builds you see, and is tearing things up!

    The Build - http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/witch-doctor#fkQPYU!YUT!cZZcZZ

Skills & How they work together

Zombie Bears - Massive AoE 'ish damage (or use dire bats for more range)
Wall of Zombie, Unrelenting Grip - Wall for safety + Snare
Big Bad VooDoo, Rain Dance - soon as this pops you can spam your bears all day
Fetish Army - great damage & distraction - any rune is great
Zombie Dogs, Final Gift - great distraction + health globes
Spirit Walk, Honored Guest - Escape + Mana

    Passives

Gruesome Feast - Health globes heal your mana 10% and you gain 10% int as damage for 10 seconds. keeps your mana more full and gives you big DPS increase. extra globes from dogs help + picking up any globe on the screen instantly is amazing.

Vision Quest - Derp, need mana

Grave Injustive - Now this is where my build shines. I have 55 yard pick up increase. Anything that dies anywhere on the screen.. increases all my cooldowns 1 second.. I can almost chain cast most of my spells in a good fight.

    ---

I can pretty much chain cast zombie wall and spirit walk. I can summon more dogs every 15 to 20 seconds. Fetish Army and Rain Dance cool downs seem like nothing. I usually spirit walk every 3-5 seconds in a good fight.. keeps mana full even without Rain Dance.

So yea.. dogs help produce tons of health globes.. i instantly pick up any health globe that drops anywhere on the screen.. which fills my mana and increases my damage + every kill reduces cool downs 1 second.

This build is a monster. I eat large packs of baddies for lunch. I tear through rare / champion packs before their stupid unbalanced attacks can really kill me.

I constantly have 3 dogs and a following of fetish minions.

Gear of choice - Int, Vitality and at least 7 extra range of pickup on every piece of gear it comes on.

This is probably one of the only attributes on gear that can really be used to help make an actual "build" designed to work in a specific way.

    TRY IT OUT! It's amazing.

    Quote from Theungry

Of the abilities you listed, over half of them are still available on D3 gear. The remaining items are all still in the game, they've just been relocated from gear to passives or runes, and there are way more of them.

Reallly? Half huh. So I can find a rune to socket into my gear so it become Indestrucable? No. Diablo 3 has any gear that gives you procs or spells from another class? No.

I can reduce freeze duration or prevent monster heal? No.

All of the D3 item mods are listed here - http://www.diablofan...i-item-affixes/

We have damage mods, defensive mods, some on hit effects (that you would have to roll Teir 12 on and on multiple pieces of gear to make work) life, resists, the basics.

You can't argue it man. D3 item mod and gear customization is severly lacking compared to D2.

posted a message on Itemization is so Bland
This is probably whiny post #9000 about this topic, but I seen this coming and posted about it many months ago.. and sure enough it happened.

Itemization is the worst thing about this game. I love the spells, the fights & challenge... but the Itemization strips away any real character customization.

The stats are comprised up of mostly basics. Damage, Defense or Vitality. There is no fun stats or any real stats that can be used to build a specific type of character.

At most, you can try to collect all gear with Teir 12 "on hit" stats and maybe get a total of "Change to Freeze on hit 18%" --- TOPS!

No runes or runewords is killing me. No jewels. Nothing to put into sockets to really customize yourself.. past doing a bit more damage or having a bit more life.

    ----

Here is a very small example of item attributes taken directly from Diablo 2 ITEMS only

35% Damage Taken Goes to Mana
Hit Causes Monsters to Flee 50%
    Half Freeze Duration
6% Chance To Cast Level 3 xxx-random spell When Struck
    Prevent Monster Heal
    10% Chance Of Crushing Blow

Here is a small example of types of things we could put into sockets

    Weapon: Indestructible
    Armor/Helm/Shield: Cannot be Frozen
Weapon: 32% Chance of Hit Freezing Target for 3 seconds
Weapon: 20% Chance of Hit Blinds Target
Armor/Helm/Shield: +25% Better Chance of Finding Magical Items
Armor/Helm/Shield: +50% Extra Gold from Monsters
Armor/Helm/Shield: 15% Damage Taken Goes to Mana
    PLUS JEWELS

Here is a small list of really cool bonuses you could get from Runewords

Level 13 Summon Grizzly (5 Charges)
12 Level 4 Corpse Explosion Charges
15% Chance To Cast level 10 Bone Armor When Struck
15% Chance To Cast level 10 Bone Spear On Striking
Level 15-21 Thorns Aura When Equipped (varies)
100% Chance To Cast Level 44 Chain Lightning When You Die

I could go on, but I think you get the point.

Diablo 3 Itemization is a huge flop. They took way more than 2 steps back in terms of items and fun attributes.

Seriously the most fun thing you can look forward to with customizing your D3 character with items is things like Life Steal and at most, about 18% chance to freeze or fear on hit. That's about it.

No auras, No fun procs, Nothing except Defense, Damage & Vitality.

posted a message on Melee Doctor?
Even once they re-enable the basic attack, no skill other than big bad voodoo has any impact on your "melee" damage, there will essentially be no such thing as a melee witch doctor.

Keep in mind that you have to design a build around a skill or skill combo. Now you could focus on keeping enemies at bay with your dogs and guargantual + zombie wall.. then focus on finding + poison dart gear and become a sniper build, that is about as melee as the witch doctor gets

You and I are on the same page amigo.

I just made a post about this on the official forums - http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4079842804

it's nice to know that gear will be tied to skill choices, so changing skills every 15 seconds won't be viable as it could gimp your damage without the right gear

posted a message on So whats the Point of Low lvl uniques if re-rolling is pointless?
No I completely agree, but I will take it even further and say that ALL gear in Diablo 3 is useless.

In the last 7 years we have not heard or seen any gear that has any + SKILL modification stats. There won't be different gear for different builds. You simply pick the gear that has the best basic stats, and that's it. A billion different skill combinations, one set of gear.

Rare, Set, Legendary.. meaningless names of equipment at this point.

Unless we have gear that directly changes the way a build functions, then ALL gear choices are pointless at every level.
