If anything, HC mode lends itself much more strongly to the cash AH. I for one am disappointed that I can't make money off the newbs in HC that will pay a higher price for the gear (because of the constant gear recycling) but then losing it all when they die only to buy the gear again. Oh well, guess I'll just have to pay for my mortgage in SC mode.

posted a message on Recommendations for Runes
So I've been doing a lot of reading on the rune system, and what they were going to do with it vs. what they now want to do with it.

Personally I liked the original system, where each skill had 6 variations (one unruned, and one for each other rune available.) Sure that's a lot of information to know, but it's an online game, who doesn't play with a couple of Internet windows open in the background.

However with the new system why don't they just make runes into glyphs like you'd find in WoW? You could even make them craftable with one of the artisans! Just have a glyph for each rune/skill combination you have, and have the number of runes/glyphs reflect the number of active skills you have (currently 6.) I know that that is a lot of "Runes" but it doesn't seem that much more difficult then what they were originally planning to do. That way when you want to switch out Magic Missile, for Meteor on your hotbar, you also change out your MM duplicating glyph, for your one that reduces the CD on meteor.

Makes sense to me at least.

The logitech g35 My link is a spectacular piece, I've used it almost a year now. Active noise passive noise isolation and a great fit make it very comfortable and clear for prolonged sessions. However I'll be buying a megalodon when I get my new pc and just keeping my g35 with my laptop.

This being said, HC players (should) be significantly undergeared when compared to SC (Normal) players simply because they often have a much shorter lifespan and the gear in HC is much more difficult to come by. This also leads to a much more stable HC economy, which is one of the many reasons that I only play HC.

...How does Blizzard stay true to HC rules without it being detrimental to the mode itself? With so much time spent preparing for HC arena and so little time required to die how do you insure the mode can strive as HC fans wish it to? I hope August 1st holds those answers...

    Very well put.

I'm going to be using what I have found to be the best RPG mouse out there, the Razer Naga http://www.getimba.com/ You probably won't need all 17 buttons for D3 but I used all of them and more for WoW and I know that I will never be lacking during a long and drawn out gaming session. Plus it has a very high quality laser and spectacular construction.
Then what's the point of the keyboard? I'd find using my keyboard hand to hotkey skills simpler than using my thumb on my mouse hand. But it does take "playing with just your mouse" to a whole new level :)
I was a tank in WoW, and having all of my skills bound to my right hand that let me use my left hand for movement and nothing else. This came in extremely handy when it came to positioning mobs and bosses, as well as quick and precise movement in the arena. I don't know how it will work for me in D3, but I am confident that it will be one of the best mice for the job.

I'm really not trying to be argumentative, but perhaps you don't understand the volatility of arena based pvp. I never claimed to being an expert at Diablo 2, but when you are used to playing Hardcore, and putting everything on the line whenever you leave town, then a game mode in which you stand to lose nothing more then a small amount of experience when you meet your demise, how are you not supposed to view that as practice? Especially when you are using it as a means to hone your skills for the hardcore world?

If we are to believe that hardcore arena will be as we have been thus far explained, then these top ranks will change too frequently for them to hold any weight, or demand any respect. The people who have the highest ranks will be the ones that had a long enough lucky streak to get there, and then they won't be played for fear of losing that "earned" rank.

Naturally, this is all speculation. I've played a lot of arena in World of Warcraft, and things go wrong, lag spikes happen, team members get disconnected, mistakes are made, and there will eventually be someone who smashes your scissors with a very large rock.

High ranking HC players won't strive for a very respectable 15:1 W/L ratio, they will end up with a lucky winning streak (and yes, no matter how good you are, winning enough straight games to reach this presumed upper echelon will be highly influenced by luck) and then never be seen in the arena again.

At least that's is how I can see things playing out. Once again, this is all speculation, but it is speculation that is based on the information which Blizzard has provided us.

"If you don't want to die, don't go in the arena" seems awful shortsighted and well... imo dumb. I guess I'll have to have 2 sets of characters, one for HC and one for Arena, if I lose a lvl 83 toon because I lag out for half a second and take a platoon of undead stygian dolls to the face, so be it. If I lose a lvl 83 toon because my partner has his head up his kiester, then that don't sit right with the big dog.

I really don't see why HC arena has to be perma-death. I also don't see why the community is just rolling over and taking it instead of trying to get it changed so that us HC players, who refuse to play SC and consider it as nothing short of practice get to enjoy one of the biggest changes to the Diabloverse since it's inception.

Thanks for all of the replies, although I think I was misunderstood.

I am well aware of both how Hardcore characters are created and that the games they enter are hardcore games.

I was just fishing for other hardcore players that were hoping to pvp without the risk associated with hardcore. PVP is a great thing, and arena will be a fantastic addition to the Diablo universe, it would be a shame that it would be all but wasted on the hardcore players out there. Players that often don't have the option of the best gear in the game with it constantly being lost in endless characters stashes and inventories. Don't punish us for wanting to play a more reserved, calculated, and volatile play style. IMO there is really no reason for hardcore arena to be perma-death, unless both players want it to be so.

Why can't hardcore players arena against other hardcore players without risking their characters? Especially in 2v2 and 3v3, I wouldn't trust my best and most talented friends to keep my character safe in a team based hardcore arena where everything is on the line.

I've heard a lot of rumors regarding "Hard Core" Arena; Same one life rules as non-arena, being the main one. Now I've always been a devote hard core player, with the integration of the arena it would be great for me to be able to compete against other people in pvp without worrying about losing all of that time and effort. I really don't want to have to have sets of both "Hard Core" and "Normal" characters just so I can PVP on my normal characters. Of course, without the ability to transfer items between hard core and normal characters it would be a necessity.

I'm really just hoping someone can set my mind at ease, that maybe when you choose an arena game, you can set it to hard core or normal. Players aren't going to risk high level hard core characters in an arena match that could last only seconds.

I can't be the only person thinking this, can I?
