posted a message on Tell me how secure Bnet is now!
I seem to recall straddling the fence on the RMAH issue long before launch, not sure whether I thought it would be a beneficial and enjoyable addition to the game or a deplorable debauchery that would corrupt the continuation of a legacy already marked with more corruption than any game I have ever known. However, during those discussions the one major downside I completely supported in opposition of the implementation of a RMAH was the insecurity of an online game hosted by Blizzard.

I was forced to weather the storm of so many Blizzard fanboys with such stale arguements as "I run an anti-virus and don't go to porn sites and I've never been hacked" or "an authenticator makes it virtually impossible to get hacked", but the worst and most obviously erroneous of these arguments would have to be "the new Battle.net is gonna be so secure that the only people who get hacked don't have authenticators and are stupid."

If you go to the Diablo III forums right now you can read the ranting of numerous Diablo III players (many of whom own authenticators) that have had their accounts hacked/stolen and their items stripped from them. Blizzard has responded with a generic "buy our authenticators response" TO THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE ALREADY BOUGHT THEIR AUTHENTICATORS.

I swear if I had the time and the energy I would try to track all of you fanboys down now for you "I told you so" come-up-ins. Alas, I'm a lazy old bastard trolling during Diablo maintenance who hopes as soon as it's over he can log in and find that he is lucky enough not to have had all of his gear removed by a scoundrel so devious and so ingenius to have wasted his time robbing me of the pixels on a video game for a mere pittance of what he/she could have actually made working a job.

P.S. how many of you think this occurence will make you hesitant to participate in using the RMAH? (not that your credit card info isn't already tied to your battle.net account from any previous online purchases such as Diablo III download or WoW game time.)

posted a message on No Mod Support for Diablo 3
This thread is incredibly stupid. There are like 3 people in here who aren't immature little shits that came by just to say "I don't do it, so fuck anyone out there who does." You don't have to use a mod. I can understand Blizzard cracking down on modding due to not wanting to open any potential doors to duping/hacking. However, there is something to be said for the mounds of content that modders have freely provided people who play many Blizzard games. To adopt a "there can be no mods" policy now after benefiting from modders in the past doesn't make sense from any other viewpoint than to ensure the security of the game.

"diablo has never been about modding"
"The community doesn't always make a game better"
    "UI modification is almost pointless"

Statements like these are simply stupid. It's just stupid people condemning what they do not understand. If you don't like mods, don't use them. You can't call them pointless or detrimental as if it's not just your own twisted little opinion, but some universally known fact. Fact is, some people like mods.

I've enjoyed every FF title except XIII honestly. I hate the new system. I actually played XI online for awhile and was quite immersed in it as well, but the best online world to spark my imagination and give me that "reading a great book" feeling was Neverwinter Nights. I never even played through the single player campaign completely, but some of the player generated servers were so amazing it made that game timeless. I can still go back and play on some of those servers today and feel overwhelmed with nostalgia.

I'm subbed on youtube and I really appreciate all the vids you have done so far. Just curious, why haven't you done a "Diable III: why can't it be a FPS with space marines?" video?

All trolling aside, you've done an awesome job keeping the community informed and entertained. Thank the Gawd-bomb you are featured and not the fallout newbie at Gamespy.

A new Bob Dylan would be epic

My middle name is Dylan after Bob Dylan. My first name is Jesse after Jesse James. My father used to tell me he named me after "a poet and a thief."

@proletaria I understand the need to protest, and you have a very valid point that a protestor who shows up and says, "Oh I thought this would be easy, nevermind" isn't much of a protestor. I just feel like protesting during vietnam was as effective as it was because it was coupled with so many other things. We seem to both agree that most of the current generation of protestors see it as a weekend hobby and not really something to commit very strongly to.

I am somewhat of a hypocrite I suppose considering I have not masterminded a new strategy that will muster creativity and innovative participation in others, but the fact still stands that rich and powerful people in our country now see protests as a minor/financial hindrance and most often one they ignore almost entirely. Take the recent rule of no dancing at national monuments. It was outrageous that they arrested people (violently taking them into custody btw) for dancing ANYWHERE in America, and there was quite a large resistance movement planned where an enormous group of upset people gathered at danced at a monument in defiance of the absurd rule. None of that group were arrested that I know of, but the stupid rule still stands as far as I know.

The fact is, if rich and powerful people want to restrict your freedom for their own gain or ego, whatever the reason, it is all to easy for them to "talk to the right people" and get things done. The majority of people in our country don't have any recourse when suffering at the hands of a corporate dominated economy for instance. They can't just "pull a few strings" like some corporate asshat who decides that his profit margin is far more important than the well-being of our country. Anonymous seemed like they were on the road to leveling the playing field a bit. They don't only peacefully protest. They have the means to hit em where it hurts. Their pocketbooks. I guess I just hoped for a more direct approach from Anonymous considering they have had such a direct approach in the past.

Wow, can we get back to why Anonymous has decided to go in the same old inefficient direction as so many other "peaceful organizers?" We don't need to organize. Standing in the street and shouting has won as absolutely no leeway with the multiple wars we are fighting, and that's not to mention that wall street protests are far from a new idea. Michael Moore did it. Hell Rage Against the Machine held a free concert on the steps of a bank on Wall Street, and that was back before America had such a broken spirit. We need people to get pissed and feel like there is something they can actually do....... other than stand in the street and repeat a sentence over and over again like a mentally-handicapped person.

I have done more than my far share of bitching in the streets, and I certainly don't regret it. I can remember organizing with a group called "food not bombs" where we actually fed the homeless. Untill, local governments realized that we were spreading anti-national dissent. Apparently, if you aren't spreading the gospel of zombie jesus and how his flesh will help you live forever and grant you with the ability to communicate your submission to his will and power telepathically...... you shouldn't have the right to feed the homeless. Maybe, it's just that all my "organizing" days left a bad taste in my mouth, and I would actually like to "fucking do something."

The bounty hunter idea is actually a pretty good idea. It fits the "we'll offer incentives not to farm the same bosses repeatedly" idea they had also.

While we are on the copy and paste WoW systems mood, what about an end-game currency (sellable on RMAH ofc, before you anti-RMAH nutters get in on this) that can be earned for some random end such as high tier gear, large or specific & special upgrades to artisans, reapplication of runes, or a title or some achievement style crap?

end-game content for release does seem premature. That being said, I do hope that with a content patch in the somewhat near future of the release date there will be some kind of original end-game content (not just a supernova difficulty or some crap). I don't think the Ubers was bad implementation don't get me wrong, but it's kinda "been there done that" for an end-game option to a new Diablo game in the series. I can see them wanting to hold back on a lot of new content for expansions, but there should be some small installments for people to use their inferno gear on. I think future expansions, which will most likely bring a level cap rise, should bring new content as well that can be expounded upon in content patches so we never feel like we've hit the ceiling of playing Diablo III content so to speak.
