It should be like, if you buy the collectors edition on blizzards website, you just automaticly (spelled?) gets diablo 3 attached to your account. That would be both a win for blizzard and a win for the diablo fans.

You mean D3 CE key (not just standard).

My reaction: Does this mean Nightmare will really just be another tutorial and we won't have a real challenge until Hell?

Difficulty is SO subjective it's not even funny. The point is they are naturally going to create a mold of the base skill from the casual audience. So expect the tiers to shift based on your experience. They want one difficulty to be the "wtf this is insanely hard" area. For casuals it will be too damn frustrating and they will just be happy with beating Hell (by using what they learned from the other two difficulties). Inferno will hopefully require YOU (and by proxy, the community on forums, chat, etc) to come up with new strategies that the other difficulties did not essentially introduce you to by making it pretty obvious what you needed to do to survive. So hardcore fans will be willing to face through Inferno, casuals will not...at least unless they decide to cross that threshold and start changing things in their personal life to make more time to master the game.

Nightmare is just going to feel like New Game+ with higher stats. In fact it will probably be easier in comparison to Normal in some ways if you do any farming in Normal before hitting Nightmare since I'm sure Nightmare's creature level will be only just above what you saw at the end of Normal. You might get caught off guard by a new mob special property or combo of properties but you may not even die from it. It's just going to be there to show you of how they will ramp the harder difficulties up.

Since it's online only getting the CE a day early doesn't give them any advantage.

Diablo was never about competing or PVP and it's not a mmo either.

No but Blizzard's not going to give anyone early access for buying the CE. This is simply a way of making sure CE fans don't get screwed out of a midnight start w/ their perks.

They really should just sell the CE the day before and not turn on the servers until 12:01 AM on launch day so everyone starts at the same time. Since it's online only getting the CE a day early doesn't give them any advantage.

Blizzard could just let people download the client. Without a registered copy on your b.net account, you won't get anywhere anyway.
I don't think they would risk some people datamining the release client and allowing everyone to know exactly all item stats, all bosses stats, and what are the secret levels and their bosses (with 100% certainty this time, unlike the beta which has "encrypted" stuff) even before release.

At least that's what I would think if I was a developer.

Encrypt stuff just like beta and have a small patch on release that unencrypts.

Definitely like this change. Bosses are epic because they are epic encounters, and now these special mobs whose encounter isn't quite as epic suddenly become epic because they have the best chance of epic gear. More epic encounters = win

When farming bosses it feels like swimming through trash because you KNOW where the boss is and roughly how long it will be before you get there and everything prior has no chance of making you happy...with this system you have no idea when you're going to run into that next super lootbag so seeing these rare spawns will be like seeing a rare item drop all on their own

posted a message on Blizzard said: "D3 is the most moddable version of Diablo there's ever been"
They need to give modding tools to experienced names in the modding community to help them develop new modes for Blizzard to officially release for online-only play. There aren't enough positions at Blizzard to provide a seat to every brilliant game designer + programmer. Give them an opportunity to contribute and you'll see more than the birth of DotA and TD. They'll also speed you along into an optimized UI.

WoW has improved dramatically in a lot of quality-of-life areas by emulating very popular mods. Diablo will suffer by restricting its quality development to only the small pool of designers (small in comparison to the willing and available talent in the world). They need to open it up so improvements don't come so slowly.

Also their excuse for no mods is still dumb. They could always offer an unsupported offline only mode for people who don't care about secure trading or hacks. Battle.net would not track these characters and of course they would never be able to come online. Blizzard would just watch to see what's popular and implement what parts of what's popular they like into later versions of Diablo and obviously profit from it.

Jan is too soon. They would have announced it at Blizzcon if it was that soon.

I wonder if a perfect gem in a RNG created (socket) slot will always be better than the perfect roll of a stat in a RNG created slot.

4 is enough. Maybe if everyone was playing on 60" screens where there's enough real estate then we could talk.

I'm sure there will be at the very least a web and mobile (app) interface for the AH. A premium service like WoW's. An armory also seems likely.

posted a message on Console version will NOT be out with PC
Blizzard would never admit to anything that delays the game other than improving the game itself (really bad PR). That being said it wouldn't have made any sense to delay for a multi-platform release. The last thing they need is increase the amount of time that has passed since Blizzard released a new title, especially with WoW sinking.
