posted a message on My PO On the Rune News
So glad to read the news today!

The rune system might be reworked, which I think accommodates two sides of the skill debate.

No skill points, skills on/off, and access to all skills but limit of 6 leave people feeling as though particular 'builds' aren't going to be a part od D3 gameplay. It feels kinda cheap. Like the game has training wheels to accommodate new players to the game/genre by letting us swap skills on the fly and not giving the player choice in which path to specialize in.

Flip side...trying different builds with same character, respec, and skill experimentation make that game mechanic enticing!!! if I have access to all skills, I can take whatever route I want!

It's not that they're taking skill points away, they're actually giving you skill points. All accessible skills will be maxed to it's potential, relative to your clvl and skill tier, as it scales to your clvl. This does leave that empty taste in your mouth that a character will not have an identity, role, or specialization like a WW Barb or Zeal Pally did in D2. If I have access to all skills, and I don't spend points in certain skills to fulfill a desired role, what kind of 'builds' and identities do they think can actually be created?

With the rune system possibly being reworked, I think a great compromise has been brought to the table between the differing opinions. Retaining the skill system, but implementing a new rune feature that adds affixes or them being attuned to a skill will give players (who want more precise build control) the ability to make a particular build possible. Where you used to create a build by going down a certain skill tree, you will now be creating that build by finding particular runes to amplify/modify your desired skills. (gems will probably play a role as well).

That, in combination with selected actives and passives, will give you your unique identity in D3 that we all strive for.

I support the suggested rune reworking.

I see both sides. It initially feels like it will be a grind to find a specific desired rune. But combined with the fact that you don't have to fight for dropped items and there is a great AH to sell/find runes, I think it will not only be a blast to hunt for them but it won't be as tedious as it seems.

IMO- for the people who love the aspect of interchangeable skill on the fly and for the people who desire a more concrete way of building a characters identity, this rune system seems to be a solid middle ground. I support it.

posted a message on Dear D3 art style complainers,
    I should note:

Not directed at anyone on this site. Some in-person conversations and numerous complaints still rolling around the net seem to spark my rant. Rather foolish though, to puke up a smartass complaint of my own isnt it?

    Take care

posted a message on Dear D3 art style complainers,
"The art style sucks!! Its so bright!" - Joe Deusch
"Why is it so cartoony? Why didn't they make it darker like D1 and D2?" - Harry Dumass
"It's so saturated! What the hell man! Why?" - Noob Johnson
"I can see Russia from my house!" - Sarah Palin

Does this sound like someone you know? Are you having a hard time adjusting to the great range of colors in Diablo 3? Well don't you worry my friends! A simple tool can help solve your crybaby rants!

Anyone with an Nvidia graphics card should have the Nvidia Control Panel at their disposal!!! (que balloons, confetti and shit)

In 3 easy steps, you can have a darker, grittier, more emtional Diablo 3 experience!!
Step 1 - Open Nvidia Control Panel. Take your time with this one. This is the most important step!
Step 2 - Move the sliders in the color settings section to your desired preference. Hint:Digital Vibrance is very popular method in obtaining that dark, deep Diablo experience!
    Step 3 - Hit Apply! You're done!

Once these settings take affect, you should notice a huge difference in the aesthetic appeal of your games! Here's some testiomony of previous users!
"Once I tweaked the brightness setting it just got so much darker. Like, the whole screen. I can't believe it." - Joe Deusch
"That digital vibrance saved my game. And my marriage. I highly recommend it." - Noob Johnson
"I can see Russia from my house!" - Sarah Palin

Similar results have also been found using ATI's CCC tool!!!! Yay!

Shutup about the art style and about the color palette. Shut up about the accessibility of Diablo 3. If your tastes in games have matured or changed, then acknowledge that and play something else you enjoy. Embrace it or leave it.

You used to live in Europe or Canada, didn't you? I only hear people reference America as "the States" when they are from Europe or Canada.

    Anyway, welcome to the Forums.

Hmm, actually I started saying that for some reason after playing with some British folk on CoD. But you're right, they do say that.

    New to the site!

Been playing games since Doom was freshly released as shareware (now that's something you don't hear anymore!). Even spent a lot of time modding some games on my own time.

I live in the States (Indiana), 24 years old, in school, work, and play FPSs/RPGs. I like Call of Duty. I like the Battlefield series. That's all I am going to say about that! :P But when it comes to Diablo, very few games come close. That's why I'm here.

Looking forward to being a part of this community! Send me a message if you need anything.

    Take care,

posted a message on Char.Progression Question
    <<<<< Thread Solved !!!!!!!!! >>>>>

Skill allocation - "You begin the game with only 2 active skills and no passives. The last four active skill slots can be unlocked at levels 6, 12, 18, and 24, and the three passive skill slots are unlocked at levels 10, 20, and 30."

Knowing skill points have been completely removed from D3, then does character progression/creation stops at level 30?

I was wondering if anyone was caught off guard by this information? Our last 'new thing' that contributes to our character happens at level 30....HALFWAY through the total level progression. After level 30....what am I doing? Will we be done building our character? Is loot going to be the primary objective after lvl 30? (not necessarily complaining)

I was curious about this. Didn't want character progression to end so quickly in terms of acquiring skills/traits. In D2, we didn't acquire more skills past Clvl30, but we had points to spend and beef them up throughout the rest of our gameplay.

    Take care,
