posted a message on (1.03) Any WD gearing changes?
    Quote from Abadayos

So I just had my WD built around IAS more than crit damage and managed to get 2.63 Att per sec and 26% crit and roughly 120% crit damage before the patch hit today. I was doing 66k DPS and expect it to drop to the mid 50's after the patch. No problem, I'll just regear, I'm not mad cos all the IAS gear I have was found myself, I'll just palm it off to others and upgrade to more desirable gear with better stats.

Now I come to a problem. With the new patch reducing IAS by roughly half on gear, how does a WD gear up? Obviously still int stacking with ignoring resists/vit (if going glass cannon build, otherwise going for those stats too) and then what? Stack crit hit to a roughly certain point then crit damage the rest? IAS to a certain attack per second then going crit hit then damage?

To be hoenst I'm just a bit confused. I have been playing around with some of the spread sheets around here and getting some mixed results to say the least (or I'm inputting the wrong data somewhere). I know there is no real 'golden number' to go for with a stat, but what are your feelings regarding how to gear in 1.03 for a PD glass cannon WD?

    Your thoughts are appreciated.

The value of Crit vs IAS is going to vary based upon your gear. For now, IAS is better for me so I'm going to continue looking for IAS gear over anything else. If there comes a point where Crit becomes better per point, I'll favor that.

I was probably around 20k at that time and it was a fairly easy fight. Sub 2 minutes. But then again I buy off the AH so it's hard to compare.

9k is pretty light, so I'm impressed you got that far. As others have said, yeah it's possible. Farming Act1, public games, etc are all good. if you have friends to run with, they may be more willing to give you a good weapon if you ask nicely.

    Quote from LordTyberius

The prices are an absolute joke, how in the world did anyone even think "good gear" would sell for over 40$. there is no one on my friend list or anyone I spoke to in real life, that is willing to spend more than 20$ on 1 item in the AH, and people actually think they are going to sell decent stuff for what most people won't even spend on awesome stuff?

The sooner these trolls figure out that most things are going to sell for 5-10$ the sooner we actually get to enjoy using the real money auction house.

At least i got a good long laugh out of it when I got home from work

I agree. The problem is people ARE paying those absurd prices.

Thanks blizzard. Instead of solving the problem, you make players suffer for your incompetence.

This input limit will not solve the problem of botting. They can just add (random) delay and botting will continue. Just at a slower pace.

How about making an incentive to reward people who play the game as it is intended for.

You mean they want us to actually PLAY the game? Perish the thought!

posted a message on WD gearing question Inferno
    Quote from Abadayos

Pretty much I'm wondering for inferno progression if it's worth just ignoring resists and vitality and just going balls to the wall with int and DPS stats top just blow stuff up before it gets close?

I'm running with a poison dart spec. This is an alt character I just speed leveled (main is a Monk). I just want to know so I can AH it up and buy the stuff I need. I'm wanting to be able to progress to act 3/4 inferno. My monk is stuck in act 3 and I'm wanting a change.

Thanks in advance and sorry if this sort of thing has come up before, I'm on my mobile phone and cant really check.

    Thanks

As it stands now, it is incredibly expensive to get the kind of defensive stats you need to survive multiple hits in Inferno. I've been full damage for awhile now and it's pretty fun. If I'm careful it's not bad, but with only 25k health I certainly do die quite a bit. I would imagine it'll be easier to have some defensive stats worth while once Inferno is nerfed.

I actually don't feel like this amount of money is all that unreasonable. Let's say he rushed to inferno on DH or Wizard, and had an intelligent/consistent farming strategy and has been able to get a slew of high quality items.
Let's break down 1 billion gold in D3 right now. That's selling 50 items for 20mil gold each. I would say that that is not incredibly unreasonable for someone who has been farming inferno 3-4 early. Considering I am sure he has done WAY more than 50 auctions, although most of them probably for less than 20 million, idk why people are freaking out about 1.4 billion. It's just consistent dedication.
If you actually look at the number from where D3 stands now, I think it is impressive, but reasonable.

Sure you do the maths it possible, but highly unlikely without cheating.
D3 is too full of exploits. Very poor for such as large company.

Highly unlikely? You have absolutely zero evidence to back that up. It's just as likely that he made the gold legitimately.

What exploits? I can think of one game breaker and one mild inconvenience. The game breaker was fixed and only happened on Asia's server.

Good int but no % crit and the damage range is on the low side. I wouldn't buy it, but I'm sure someone will buy it for a few million.

Yeah, same. It's nice but certainly not worth 'millions' like people have said. Course if this thread is any indication, it'll sell well.

Making assumptions is pretty dumb. How do you know he didn't farm his gear? Or got lucky with early drops and sold them for millions on the AH?

Even assuming he paid for his gear, so what? It all comes down to time == money. If you want to spend time farming your gear, that's one way to look at it. If you rather spend money, why does it matter?

And PVP isn't supposed to be balanced, so not sure why the pvp complaint.

Perhaps because I have over 10 million gold collected, 300 hours played time, and still don't know anyone who has gotten a single drop that could fund the type of gear that this man is wearing with his measly 120 hours of time played, and 1.5 million gold collected.

As far as justifying that time is money, that defeats the purpose of the game for me. I work full-time, and I play a game to have fun. Saying that it is better to spend your real-life money on a game because time = money defeats the entire purpose of a game. Actually enjoying playing it. Comparing time spent in the game to time spent at work? Only if the game isn't actually fun to play (which is no the case).

Here's a piece of advice that may help you out in the world. People derive enjoyment from different things. You don't like paying for items and like to play through everything and earn it? Cool! Kudos to you! That doesn't make you better than the person who derives enjoyment from min/maxing his or her character, and if that person can afford to, why the hell not buy his gear?

Amongst my 2 level 60s, I currently have 25 million gold, probably have spent 5-10 million and I definitely know I could have made atleast 100 mill+ if I had leveled faster/gotten into Inferno faster/not rolled a barb first. Don't judge.

Once again, this kid has 120 hours of played time and only one level 60 character, 1.5 million gold collected, and is wearing over 100 million gold in items. Something doesn't add up. Blizzard actually came out and said the reason that accounts get hacked are because a lot of players buying gold illegally. I don't even know why you're questioning this.

Because it's completely plausible that he was one of the early people to get to Inferno and sell those drops for millions of gold. Now if he just killed Inferno Diablo last week, that's another thing. Until you know that, you are simply drawing a conclusion with zero evidence.

posted a message on So where do you get those 1.2k dps weapons?
    Quote from Revelations

I've ran a gazillion of 5 stack Siegebreaker runs. Cleared all act 4 but Diablo, and the highest dps item I've found was a 1024 dps crossbow with low atk speed. Most weapons seem to be around 850 dps.

Does magic find also increase quality of the items that drop or just the amount? Because I'm not so sure anymore. There are 1500+ dps weapons out there... they must be from act 5 or somethig...

They certainly aren't common, but you'll find more of them in Act IV

Magic find only increases the quantity of items dropped.

Is it better to stack more INT than INT/VIT? My DPS is currently 17k with 27k hp. Im in act 2 and im currently being 2 shotted. I used to have 36k hp but I was still dying quick anyways.

TLDR; BETTER TO GET MORE INT THAN INT/VIT?

MOAR INT!! Seriously though... I was having a heck of a time with Act 2 until I decided to forget about resist and vit and just go with IAS and int (+ dmg, + crit, +crit damage is also good if you can afford it). After I stacked damage and accepted the fact that I'll be 1 shot... I cleared 3/4 of Act 3 and all of Act 4 in one day.

One warning though... I'm not sure how far out the next patch is but that might change everything. I'm holding off on the trigger for new items until I see if vit + resist will actually matter once the Inferno nerf hits. If stacking medium amounts of resist + vit will allow us to take 3-4 hits in Act 3/4 then I'll be switching my gear around and trying to average things out a bit. There's nothing more frustrating than a terror demon coming out of stealth and 1 shotting you.

Yeah man. Once you realize that you'll be one/two shot in Act 3/4 regardless of your health, mitigation or resist, Inferno becomes that much easier.

Only if you have no hardcore pretensions =)

    Haha, very true.

    This is an ignorant post.

Ah yes, because you can't accomplish something anyone saying that it's possible HAS to be ignorant. Stop making things up to try and support your point. Obviously if you don't know what you are doing, the WD won't keep up with other classes.

    Quote from Puunake

How the hell you make VQ and zombie bears viable on elite packs and such, you can only dps effectively every 2 minutes and the other time you are useless.
Saying Zombie bears works well past act 1 is just a horrible lie.

Again, because you can't do it means it's not possible? With the correct spells Bears and Bats are almost spammable. VQ is a passive and Bears don't have a cooldown, so this 'can only dps effectively every 2 minutes' statement of yours is vastly wrong. The fact of the matter is that it works for plenty of people. There are many videos around showing how good Bears are past Inferno Act 1. Either your gear isn't up to par or you just aren't that good at playing the class. That's just a fact that several in this thread need to come to grips with.

That's certainly not a knock on you or anyone else. I suck at baking. The difference here as that I don't yell at the mixer for putting in too much flour or blame the oven for burning my cookies.

Ideally, Witch Doctors want a fast 1-hander with aspd and crit damage, and a mojo off-hand with high damage and crit chance, and obviously int on both is always good

    i disagree

    @op as well...

It really depends upon current gear and how you play the game. Do you use Darts and kite everything? Then get the fastest one hander/off hand combo. Do you use bears or bats? Go with a slow-ass two hander (.90/.95 tops). Once you get that 1400+ dps two hander and there is nowhere else to go, you'll get more damage out of a fast one hander/offhand combo regardless of your spell selection. Not to mention that two handers are cheaper.

I love how everyone jumped on the OP to tell him how weak and broken WDs are.... when the OP has made tutorial videos of himself killing every possible inferno boss, and posted them to this very forum.

Huh? Is this suddenly a thread about if the WD is viable? I've killed all of the bosses as well and I'll tell you that the WD is the weakest range class (I have 0 experience with melee so I won't speak there). Everyone is entitled to their opinions, please don't pretend like yours is better than everyone who has a negative opinion of the class.

Yes, we all know how you feel. You never miss a chance to restate your opinion in any thread about WD's. No one has silenced you. Keep sharing. It's your thing.

Not sure why someone else having an opinion is such a threat to you, though... even though I didn't even express an opinion. I just think it's funny that people jumped on this dude with a tone that made me think he was a noob until i checked him out, only to find out... he's been busy making tutorials for the last two weeks.

Unfortunately many people feel the same way. They claim the class is broken or can't compete in damage with other classes, but it's been proven time and time again that the class IS viable in Inferno and CAN keep up with others. The thinking is 'I can't succeed with this class so it must be the class' when in actuality it's the player. If others can do just fine with the WD, all that's left is the player.

I just finished Act 3 in Inferno using the good old Zombie Bears build without that much of an issue. Yeah it's hard as hell and had to skip a couple champion packs because of the ability combo, but that happens to every class. The only legit complaint is that dogs and garg are under-powered. I'm ok having to recast them every now and again, but on every pull in Inferno regardless of the mob you are fighting is too much.
