I don't even know what to say. Shame on you guys for choosing that awful picture over so many of the wonderful entries. I'm absolutely disgusted. There goes 60 hours of my life working hard at something only to be beaten by a submission that is mildly clever at best and probably took about 12 seconds to complete.
Lol, what a complete and utter joke. That, "winning" picture isn't even remotely funny. I seriously didn't even crack a smile, and yet browsing any random 20 submissions, at least every second one will make me smile or laugh. This contest is so beyond rigged, there's no way everyone came together and selected that. You think the least you could have done is hand out 3 keys for that initial week, considering the thousands of entries you got. There's never gonna be more entries then there was in the first week, and you literally only hand out 1 key.. Really?... REALLY?
I really like how Blizzard gives out these keys to fan sites so random people can get in, and they still haven't released the 1000 keys for Blizzcon attendee's yet. As if it's not bad enough that all these fan sites get to play the game early on August 1st. They also get in free right after F&F testing. Why do they then deserve to give out all these additional beta keys which are gonna only be given to their friends. It's complete and utter bullshit. Thank God the server emulator for D3 is making substantial progress because I seriously doubt I'm gonna be able to play this thing until either Blizzcon, or when the server emulator finishes.
They aren't gonna give everyone a beta key. They only gave out 1000 last year.. Actually they haven't given any of those out yet. If they did it this year they'd give out maybe another 1k but that's it.
Didn't press/media people have to opt-in as well? There were multiple tweets from various press members saying they needed to opt-in if I remember correctly. So, going off of that, people who have opted in have been invited, so the beta has officially begun. People are playing it. Whether they are from the press or not is irrelevant, they opted in and received an invite. You are just upset because you aren't playing.
Remember what the point of a beta is, which is not for everyone to get on and have a sneak peek of Diablo 3 It's to find bugs, glitches, fix balance issues, test server strength, matchmaking, and any other possible thing that they need to test. It's not your beta, it's theirs. You don't get to decide when it's time to send invites, it's up to whenever they're ready to test the servers. I think you just need to step back from the D3 vids and relax. Spamming f5 day and night won't bring you a key faster, and neither will complaining about how ridiculous it is that you haven't received your key yet.

The press/media would then reply back with their account, and when the closed beta officially started they got mailed their keys. So it wasn't a random draw like what regular people are waiting for. Furthermore I find it hilarious that you bring up the beta isn't a demo, and is instead a testing ground for finding bugs etc. It's cute that you think someone in the press/media would have the time or incentive to go bug hunting/squashing when they have other games to review/preview. Way to eat your own words.
I mean, for fuck's sake, what's hilarious was Paul Sams standing on the stage at Blizzcon and shouting out that 1,000 Diablo 3 beta keys would be given out. I didn't take his words seriously then, and here I was thinking that we would, within the first few days at least, get somewhere near that number.

I think what he meant to say was that they would be handing out a grand total of 1000 beta keys world wide, and not a single one over that number. Now factor in the number of family and friends, then the eternal testers and then the number of various media sites and that probably puts them at 990 or so beta invites. So the leaves 10 open beta spots. Joy!

Having said that, I knew he was just trolling us and saying it in jest. Yeah I was there, I remember that too. I could have sworn he said that the DirecTV viewers were also elgible for those 1000 keys. Regardless it ends up being either 1-25 or 1-55 chance of getting a beta, assuming they are in fact giving out 1000 keys. But yea, Paul Sams is a fucking asshole.
I see nothing wrong. I have a dog that's 15 years old, and she's been with me since I was 8. If I saw someone physically attacking my dog, I would beat the person into a coma. Not joking either.
Well they gotta speed it up eventually. They promised 1000 beta invites to Blizzcon attendee's and viewers last year. So they will at the very least have to invite 1000 people from that. Not to mention when this game finally releases at midnight, there's gonna be like a million people trying to log on simultaneously, so they are gonna have to start inviting substantially more people to test for that. I really don't understand what the hell they are doing tbh. Why announce the beta then invite like 50 people. Seems like a great way to piss off your fan base.
