I use fist of thunder with thunder clap to close distance. For your "leap" I use seven sided strike with sudden assault.

Lash Tail Kick and Tempest Rush are also great movement abilities, runed Tempest Rush alone, or used in conjunction with Serenity will get you out of any situation; waller, vortex, jailer.

My real go to ability is seven sided strike. I use it when kitting to drop into a mob and put out some great DPS (for a monk), I use it when surrounded to leap out of the pack to safety. I also rotate it with serenity as a second immunity, it takes about a second and a half to execute at which time you are not only doing damage, but you are immune to damage.

It takes some practice, but fist of thunder with clap will let you leap around a large group of mobs continually doing damage instead of having to run out of fire, poison and mortar manually.

You seem to like the barbarian comparison so SSS with SA is you Leap, and Tempest Rush is your charge. Unfortunately you won't find a lot of Monk abilities called Move Here, Jump There, and I'm a Movement Ability, but if you read the descriptions and use a little creativity you will realize that many of the abilities are designed around movement.

I still don't understand how this is a Leap. I just tried it (again) and it DOES NOT move me past a wall :| The immunity is fucking great though. But thats besides the point :o

Tempest Rush is, atm, no matter what rune or with what conduction, NOT worth the skill slot at any situation given. Serenity is what saved your life, not TR :)

I just fail to understand how a Barb is more mobile than us. No matter what way you look at it.
Sprint with a rune is like Tempest Rush (knocks and damages mobs while running) only cheaper and better.
It costs 20 fury for 3 seconds whilst TR costs 25 only to activate the first second, and do I need to remind you we generate slower then Barbs in most occasions?

    What?!

Dashing strike - instant rush to enemy across the screen
Tempest rush - lets you path through any enemy, useful when cornered
FoT w/ thunderclap - teleports you to enemy
7 sided strike w/ teleport - again, teleports you to enemy

Ya'll have a ton of mobility. I know, I play with my monk friend in inferno, and even me as a DH, I'm impressed with how he can move around the field. Just.. well ltp.

Cool story bro, now try and use them effectively at inferno difficulty.

Hes a DH. What do you expect :|

    Just lol at your comment.
FoT - 7 feet teleport, isn't a teleport. And DOESNT go through mobs \ walls.
SSS - Same as above. Doesn't go through walls \ mobs.
Tempest Rush - Really, REALLY bad and expensive. While you run you just get smashed. even with the damage reduction rune.
DS - As said above - you can't charge a mob on the other side of the screen if there is something in the way blocking it. Unlike leap, which allows you to just jump away to a distant location, or sprint with 50% run speed for very low cost (unlike tempest rush 25% for a very hefty price), etc, etc.

    Think before you post.
And if you've played Monk and Barb, you'd know.
But you're a DH. You're the most broken class in the game. Why would you care?

I kind of realized this when my friend and I were farming Whimseywhire on Inferno by running in and looting clouds. He could sprint, leap and charge his way through the mobs while at least being able to take 2-3 hits, managing to take quite a number of clouds, while I as a monk could blind, fear (with a glyphed heal) and make myself immune and get 1-2 shotted. Basically he had more survivability, more mobility and a lot more tricks to stay alive than I did.

He had tons of mobility, I had none. I'm a monk. Wtf?

Not that I complain that Barb is mobile, I'm glad, and its great.
I just don't understand why Monk isn't even MORE mobile.

    So true, I agree.

Blizzard stated that monk will be "mobile" like sh*t. It even says that a monk is mobile and awesome in their game guide:

Monks possess peerless tactical mobility on the battlefield. Any monk is able to quickly move between or around enemies, flanking them or striking at their vitals as the situation demands, and defense-focused monks are more adept at dodging enemy attacks than any other class.

    Pisses me of real badly.

I just lolled for 5 minutes at that statement.
    Then I started crying.

It was obvious this is going to happen.

I'm wondering how this became to be the situation where a fat beefy Barb can Leap around, Charge stuff, pull things to him with Spear, and Sprint away from danger, while a quick, skinny Monk, has only one mobility skill which is quite.. bad, since it doesn't "teleport" you to the target. For example, if theres a wall or a mob in front of the one you want to charge to, you get stuck in the middle and the Dash doesn't work.

I'm quite puzzled here and wondering how you guys move around :/..
Because this is really annoying to me.

    P.S
I don't see "Tempest Rush" as a mobility spell since you move at the exact same speed, it costs TOO MUCH to be viable in inferno and the runes are.. "ok"ish. Maybe if you moved 25% faster not as a rune, and it would cost a fixed price for 5 seconds (25 spirit for 5 seconds, for example), that would be quite nice.

Well patch notes out. No need to wonder.

Guess ill just get those 5 extra levels going so I can start farming act 2-3 instead of staring at the AH praying for something decent just to be able to tank a white mob.

Actually, your original post didn't say "Inferno" at all... I was in fact confused on weither you meant Inferno or Hell. Since DH have insane trouble in Inferno, especially after Act I. Even when you are really geared, you still have to kite for ages and if you mess up and get hit even once, you're dead.

But a sufficiently geared Barb can just jump in, annihilate everything, and move along...

"sufficiently" = x5-10 geared as the DH.

And ofc I was talking about Inferno. Why would I be talking about Hell. Who cares about Hell :/..

Tbh, I truly believe we deserve a big biff, or other classes deserve a decent nerf. Especially DH. I have 3 DH friends on Act 3, all with the same gear as me (Better weapon damage though, but still).

Either its tough for everyone, or its fine for everyone.

    Thoughts?

    Rofl, ever tried playing DH?
It's not a dance on roses farming A3 I'll tell you, dodge every fucking projectile, dodge EVERYTHING, kite FOREVER.
Barbies farm A3 just as easy with the correct gear, it's not about the SAME gear, obviously you won't have the same as a demon hunter, stacking dex on barbarian I'm confused on how you even beat a1.

You won't have 100k dps as a Barbie, nor will you have 800 all resist as a demon hunter.

Same LEVEL of gear, why would I stack dex on a Barb, what am I, retarded?

I have a lvl 55 DH atm. Barely die. About 1\10 the times I died with my Barb while soloing through the acts leveling, or playing with friends.

Same as when I ask my friends if they die a lot, they answer "only if I'm not paying attention"

Don't judge demon hunter unless you played it in act 2+ inferno. Of course you don't die if you are paying attention before lvl 60. But when EACH hit is a one way ticket to the graveyard, it's not that easy. Yes, 2-shotting white mobs is fun, no doubt about it. But it is also pretty hard.

2 shotting a mob means he doesn't even get near you.
