yeah, the 3 day notice the game was going to be down for approx 8 hours at 3 AM PST today via blue post wasn't enough, the notice on the login screens wasn't enough. They need to update the server status screen as that is the most important way to tell people whats going on with the servers.

1.0.4 Is simply amazing. It now allows me to play any barb build I like that isnt downright stupid and without getting WTF raped in the face. Im not stuck to either Sword and Board or Spin to win builds now.
Plus the paragon system just enforces playing the game. Now not only can I play any build I like but im also leveling while doing so and slowly gaining MF and GF. Have made over £100 since patch 1.0.4 and thats just casually playing and im at PLvl25 and loving it
LOL at thinking being paragon level 25 already is "playing casually."
"Playing casually" is logging in for an hour or so after the wife and kids go to bed a few times a week. A friend of mine qualifies as such as "casual" player, and he just hit Paragon 2. I'm at level 9 and already play more than a good fraction of the players.
Don't define "casual" by the people that post here - there's too strong of a selection bias in effect. -

I've been playing normal mode most every day for an hour or two, I have not bothered with nightmare mode because the 3 or 4 times I've played it, I have not liked how the glowing mini-bosses you come across in each map are significantly more powerful than the regular enemies you fight.
One minute you are fighting at one pace, the next you are changing tactics entirely to compensate for the drastic change in difficulty, that's not fun to me, it's aggravating.
UPDATE
So just to give nightmare mode another shot after the patch I just played through Leoric's crown with my Demon Hunter. The real test is when I get to the goat men, that seems to be where the mini-bosses start to get there teeth. But even crawling through the crypts the mini bosses required a massive number of shots and I found myself a few times lacking discipline or hatred and found the battles bordering on not being enjoyable.
I added some screen shots of the ones that chased me around until I shot them 150 fricken laughable times before they finally went down. Diablo 2 was never like that in nightmare mode, the mini-bosses were more difficult as they should be, but not to the point where you had to wail on them for a full minute before they went down. I just don't find that kind of game play to be enjoyable, it reminds me of 80's arcade games where you are just shooting for a high score.
Good god, where to even start with this sack of bologna. I truly can't tell whether you're just the biggest Diablo forum warrior ever (to be judged by your mass of posts but absolute zero ability to actually play the game), or if you're just a massive troll who enjoys fuming over stuff that even begins to excite the working areas of your brain when engaging in strenuous activity. That isn't even beginning to address the tangential nature of your posts regarding the original topic at hand.
If you don't play games to beat the hardest parts, why the fuck are you bitching about the hardest parts? You either care about them or you don't. Or you're a troll. That's my bet.
I'll just say this: Diablo 3 is being worked on by a group that is almost entirely different than the group who did D1 and D2. If anyone thinks this isn't a legitimate reason for changes in the overall attitude and ideology of where the Diablo franchise is headed, they should check into a mental institution immediately.
Dave Brevik may not be a loser, but he sure is an asshole. Only an asshole goes out of his way to make back-handed remarks about something heopenly admitted to understanding as different based on the change in personnel. If Jay Wilson made those same remarks about Dave Brevik's shit, and Dave Brevik called Jay Wilson a loser, would we be having this conversation? Nope - aren't double standards great? Personal ire and spite is fun! Weeee, I love the internet! -

I don't have time to rebuttal more posts, but what positive can you think of by this system?
The fact that most of the community LOVES it and it's rejuvenating players and bringing players back to the game?
The fact that if we put enough time in we can be free of MF on gear, therefore making it slightly easier to find ultra high-end gear (it's one less affix that MUST be on the piece).
The fact that I run around doing MF runs and every now and then I gain 3% MF, 3% GF and some stats? It's like a small bonus every now and then for doing stuff I was already planning on doing.
The fact that coupled with the class overhauls (people are now attempting to do what is FUN with their class instead of simply what is effective) and the legendary overhaul (people are now excited to see orange/green text), PLevels are just icing on the cake. People are having a lot of fun waiting for that loot explosion on a champion pack. Seeing their XP bar inch along only helps validate that for many people.
If you're hell bent on seeing the glass as half empty then you can never comprehend how it is half full at the same time. -

I reckon more like 95% plus. Everyone was walking around in high level runewords... your chance of getting just one of those runes was slightly less than getting struck by lightning during an alien abduction while playing a random BG where the team works together. -

Tsukishima posted a message on Jay Wilson vs David BrevikD3 is a great game and was let down solely from a QA perspective. The balance team dropped the ball, IT team was substandard and general QA was missed swarms of bugs.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
These are problems that can be solved through patches and hotfixes but take time. It is truly disappointing how poorly it was launched but it is salvagable and will only get better with every patch. I honestly cannot think of any other title in a similar genre that can claim to be better. Balance will be improved, bugs will be stamped out and a lot of the frustration experienced will slowly be drained out. 1.04 improves things a lot, future patches should do even more.
Financially, facts speak for themselves, the game was a financial success. The poor launch will could see some disciplinary action to those responsible but the many problems in D3 will fade in time as the polish starts to get applied in consecutive patches. -

Agree with the moderator that claims need to be verified before jumping the gun, but several game media sites are running this gossip as breaking news, people who saw it unfold like a few angry people in this thread and myself, can verify it was a legit post. Much like the 10 bow AH hack a few weeks back, it sounds like a myth but those of you online when it happened, know it happened.
In regards to the post, yea its bad-PR, but who cares?
My mum swears like a sailor, and after living in Aus for 3 years, I find it difficult not to break into curse words myself. Its bad language, its unprofessional, but its just a gaffe, he has several hilarious ones already online.
You probably woulda done the same thing, although maybe not if you were pulling his salary.
You can't belive this is real? Then don't check out the emails from the LIBOR scandals, people talk like ordinary people.
Even if this is an epicly succesful troll, 1.04 is so close... IMHO anything not 1.04 is old news already
You'd better care. When the current game creator tells the father of the game to go fuck himself, it's pretty bad. It's pretty bad because you know he'll disregard anything good people have to say about D2. Now you know why D3 is nothing like D2. I'm not saying it's the worst game (I'm still playing it) but it could've been oh so much better.
//Oh, and also: suck our collective cocks JW. You fat fucking piece of shit.
The "father of the game" wanted to make it claymation. Diablo wouldn't be a national past time if Blizzard didn't say "screw claymation".
Also stop cursing. When you post in forums you abide by the forums' rules. If Jay Wilson came to this forum and said "Fuck Sartorius" I'd infract him too. No one is above the rules. -

What more do you want?
You don't need to play 14 hours a day to make grouping worthwhile. I jump into agame with friends, play for an hour, go to bed. I get replaced as quickly as I jumped in and things carry on. Stop worrying about other people and play the game for your own enjoyment. I accept that I'll never catch up to Morikiopa, Modz, etc in Paragon levels or possibly even their gear levels because of their lifestyle/playstyle. Oh boo hoo, life goes on, but I'm still enjoying the time I have in-game.

Overall, the gameplay feels different, but I greatly enjoy it. I appreciate the assets loading faster, so I'm not dying from my PC freezing up as it loads everything for the first time. I like the darker feel, paragon 2.0, and pretty much everything else that has been delivered to us. My least favorite thing about yesterday is the spectral hound vanity thing. It just seems out of place.

Between RoS and ESO coming out soon to consume all my free time, I'm so stoked to finally get into one of these betas, and it's all because of Curse! Thanks again!

Yet you think that using the AH is a must to progress. You are obviously way smarter than us.

I just recently bought another house and during the move, had no internet, cable tv, etc. for 2 or 3 days while patiently waiting for the hookup. I decided to play a little D2 thanks to offline mode of course. After cleansing the Den of Evil, I just had to turn the game off. Its value has run dry for me over the course of the last decade and it's just unbearable to play. (EDIT) It's so bad for me now that I even loaded up Skyrim to play instead of D2!
I'm truly intrigued by people who feel it is better than anything D3 offers, even after all these years. I'm totally ok with everyone having different opinions, but the graphics give me migraines, the combat of standing still swinging a weapon is dull and the majority of loots are god-awful (just like people say about D3.) What does D2 really have that makes you play it over D3?
