    assume your dps is 100k

    100k * 0.03 * 0.2 = 600 life for each time you hit
where 0.2 is the coefficent for life steal nerf in inferno

Life steal nerf in inferno? I'm not sure what you're talking about. Is there a link to this information somewhere?

To answer the OP it also depends on class/build. For instance spells like Locust Swarm and Blizzard do not proc LOH with every tick, but they DO provide life steal each tick. Also you shouldn't really be REPLACING life on hit with life steal, you should have both. Life steal is ONLY available on weapons, unless you're a barbarian, and LOH is available on weapon/ring/amulet and some ledendaries (ie. blackthorn pants) which means (in my opinion anyway) to get max life leeching you want life steal on weapon, LOH on rings and amulet. I also try to have as much life regen on my chest as possible.

Been saving this for just such a thread.

so far this is the winner IMO

Have you tried it on a templar? Followers receive 2.5 times the benefit of str/vit, so that thing would be over 800 str and over 600 vitality for him.

And with spells being based off weapon damage it really doesn't matter what style of weapon you have, as long it equips and has good damage. Not like WD will be doing much regular attacking, even if it's a bow. I think it's mainly to show off the item. Like, "whoa, that WD has a CRAZY bow! he must be baller!"

My idea for spirit doctor, Two direct attacks, two monster CC's(one to snare, one to really amp up the dmg), one helath regen, one mana regen/escape method. Got blood rital to help with spamminess of attacks, pierce the veil to increase attack effectivness, and rush of essence since im dealing with spirit attacks to help offset the increased mana cost from pierce the veil.

technically, I think pierce the veil's effects would only improve the mana regen per second, meaning they benefit each-other.

Now the main question I have is whether or not other players can see your "soul self" or if they only see the "physical self"

    1) you become invisible and untouchable for x seconds
    2) Your enemies see the body you left behind and it looks like you
    3) You can't do much (unless you're rune-ed) but you can move to escape safely, and pick up health globes.

The body you leave behind can, the "husk"... the husk getting hit doesn't hurt you directly, although if it takes enough damage your spirit walk ends prematurely.

You move faster than normal, and immediately remove all slow/snare effects.

    thanks for clarification!

Yeah, I hadn't really considered it, but I'm definitely group PvE focused.

I think the best thing for PvE and PvP, however, is a happy mix of survivability, damage (both single target and AoE), and health/mana leech that is not beyond what's necessary. Unfortunately finding this happy mix will probably take weeks of actually playing the game to determine, followed by adjustments based on gear at max level.

God I can't wait for this game :bigD:

My build has Blood Pact and healing as well, but only from dogs, spirit walk, and soul harvest. I plan to grab some mana leech in the form of insect swarm or spirit barrage, but also CC is pretty important, so I would grab that gargantuan stun or at least Mass Confusion. Also, any build without BBV is just asking to be dropped from a group. BBV is the ONLY buff the WD has, so it's probably gonna be on most people's bars who are grouped. There is healing from BBV, I would suggest replacing a summon or damage spell with it for parties.

That's probably because he's a cannibal, and is probably suffering from some kind of a disease that causes him to shake like that.

Dude, this is CLEARLY what Blizz had in mind when designing the character. Good job finding this or knowing this. A+.

I honestly don't think that the Alabaster runestone on the Zombie dogs is worth it. From what I've seen so far, zombie dogs do close to no damage. For healing, I had hex with Golden, but you could also do Big Bad Voodoo with Obsidian.

Of course, all of this is really speculation at this point. With the Hex rune, how often is periodically? I would choose the obsidian rune in Big Bad Voodoo if Hex was a good alternative with Alabaster.

I'm having some troubles coming up with a perfect build because they all seem so viable.

I had a feeling it might be the case. I'll probably still try it. I need as much health leech as possible, and I'm not sure if spirit walk and soul harvest will be enough. I'll go with Life Link if the healing isn't good enough from the alabaster stone.

Indigo rune seems amazing to me. As long as your dogs stay alive you only take 30% damage?

Yeah, that's the Life Link runestone. I think that one might actually be a better choice over alabaster regardless of healing. 70% damage reduction any time I have a dog out? Deal.
