my friend brought something up to me the other day and now it's pissing me off that i can't find what he's talking about. In the Sin War books (thinking its Scales of the Serpent) Uldyssian finds a woman in a stone...all i could find online is the name "Elise" but i'm not sure if that's right. i don't have the time to read the whole book just to find her. so, if anyone knows what page it's on i'll appreciate it.
I don't recall any part where he finds a woman in stone. What you might be talking about (and what Desmond is also referring to) is a passage in SotS where Uldyssian comes upon a ruin where a male demon and female couple appear to have lived until Lilith killed them. The anger of the male demon lingers in the place, but there's no trace ofthe female and no name given of her.

It's on page 85 in SotS.

posted a message on DiabloStrategy.com: Diablo Game Series Guides and Tools
What I mean is that on the proposed game page you have the "back to guide" and "go to officla site" links at the top. A forum link to the (in this case) Diablo II forum here and a link to the Diablo II page in the wiki could also fit up there, yes?

To the rest: Ah, I see.

    Game profile page

How about a wiki link and forum link at the top along with the official page? :hammy:

    Quote from Magistrate

Member registration concept (this won't be included in the next update, but just for shits and giggles)
The concept is good, but I think a guide writing tool is not something you should focus on. You're designing a search tool for guides that allows for a wide variety of guides to be gathered in one place from various different sources. Which is great, since the avenues for writing guides will not change once D3 hits, it will still be done predominantly on forums and sites like gamefaqs. But you'll be competing with those sites for no apparent reason, since every guide going up on another site can be added to the guide library. Hosting them on diablostrategy provides no additional benefit other than increased cost and development time and support from you.

    Just my thoughts :)

    Quote from Magistrate

Also, all old search links will not show you search results any longer.
Does that mean all guides have to be re-submitted?

    Quote from onderduiker

While responding to another topic, I became aware that the health values on your Wiki's DiabloWiki.com - Corpsefire Corpsefire page were incorrect because they were calculated using his modified level (82) when they should be calculated using his base level (79).

    ...

I also became aware that Corpsefire is incorrectly listed as having Cold Resist 140% in Hell, when he only has CR 120%: Spectral Hit's Resist +20% bonuses are only applied if Resist < 75% (just as Magic Resistant's Resist +40% bonuses are only applied if Resist < 100%).
Interesting. Thanks for the heads up!

That means superunique hp, resists and the hidden bonuses in the pandemonium event you've mentioned earlier (which I still, I must admit, have not changed) need to be updated. If you would like to help update said values yourself it would be greatly appreciated. All you need is a wiki account.

posted a message on DiabloCast: Episode XII - Spoiler Alert
...Except Diablo is the Lord of Terror.

Anyway, besides that little detail it's an interesting idea, the idea that the Prime Evils are the essences of Hatred, Terror and Destruction, and that they can't really die so long as those three domains exist. It's an theory I've thought makes sense which explains why the Lesser Evils chose to exile the Three rather than kill them, and how Diablo could return in D3. It fits somewhat yes, but there's no direct support for such a cosmic mechanic.

I was saddened to see Miami loose the finals, but they played horrible basketball in the last two games. And Dirk certainly deserved a ring as well. But LeBrom still has to take way more crap than anyone else in the league, even when he does perform.

    Quote from korps3

can u change them from exeptional to normal?
Yes. it is simply a matter of changing the base item the set uses. Off the top of my head I believe that is a column simply called "base item" in setitems.txt

    Quote from apples

oh hey look, i bolded all the things that d2jsp wont allow on their forums because its considered modding/cheating.

posted a message on wondering in hero ediotor can i change the items requirments
I don't see why the hero editor shouldn't be able to do it, but I don't know how.

Another solution is to edit the level requirement for the item in the game files.

    1. Download these files: http://www.diablofans.com/topic/20502-all-diablo-ii-txt-files/
    2. place them in data/global/excel in your d2 folder (you have to create those folders)
    3. open these files with excel (for Tal Rasha's belt, you want to open Setitems.txt and armor.txt), change the level requirement field on whatever items you want (in this case the set belt in setitems.txt and the base item in armor.txt)
    4. Add "-direct -txt" (without the quotation marks) at the end of the target line.
    5. Enjoy.

"or the books" ? What other books? I'm not aware of any outside The original trilogy + Demonsbane, and the Sin War Trilogy.
Sorry, that was refering to the Sin War novels. Those are canon, as opposed to the other five books.

    Quote from snared04drummer

In the Black Road, it makes mention several times that killing a demon in hell kills it for good. They only need a host while walking on the mortal plane. Therefore, I see no reason that:
TBR is not necessarily canon. You could argue that it should be considered as such so long as it doesn't conflict with the games or the books, but seeing as both you and I think it probable Diablo will return, it's a moot point. And the mortal host part is directly contradicted in the Sin War novels.

    Quote from snared04drummer

I am, however, just curious as to their explanation, and as to the other bosses. I'd rather like to see a reboot of the Prime Evils, as I always found them the most fun and the most interesting of all the bosses.
Liek Daemaro said above, a return of the Three could be explained with the Abyss somehow. Whether it will is another matter.

    Quote from Equinox

What I'm talking about is mostly the design of the portal. We really already have much of the information. We have a huge wiki, we have skill calculators for DI and DII and I'm sure they'll come for DIII as well. It's a question of displaying these elements in such a way that people will, erm, see them, and are made aware of their existence a little more than just "extra gimmicks attached to a forum". Compare, for instance, to Arreat Summit.
Looking at your reply to Ophion below, I am a bit unsure of what you're talking about here. In this paragraph you are talking about the diablofans mainpage at www.diablofans.com, right?

    Quote from Ophion

When someone is looking for Unique Gloves they should only have to browse Unique Gloves, and they should quickly be able to find that section. Currently to reach that section you have to scroll through general item info, past all the normal items (and not be fooled by the Normal Gloves section), past all the set items, past the crafting, past the unique weapons, and finally arrive at unique armor where the Unique Gloves link must be located.
Not exactly on topic, but I can see the reasoning behind this. When I made the item page as it is I admit I might have gotten caught up in the large amount of images that were at my disposal.

    Here's a considerably slimmed down version: http://www.diablowiki.com/index.php?title=User:PhrozenDragon/Sandbox3&oldid=40146

    Thoughts?

    Quote from Equinox

Ophion, you hit the nail on the head on many of the issues I have with the current wiki system. ^_^
People, you need to post these things. I'm not psychic.

    Quote from Equinox

And I just think there should be a way to make the Wiki link more visible. Not just a tab along the top next to all the other random tabs.
Well what did you have in mind? We're already linking to it constantly in news post and otherwise, we've written entire news posts about it and it gets good spots on google.

posted a message on Φ Imperius - The true threat to Sanctuary?
    Quote from youwillneverknow

ALOT of attribution to the fan books and concept art, I personally dont think developers will follow so strictly to these items rather they'd aim to continue with an audience pleasing, yet understandable storyline from Diablo 2.
Think what you will, the books still remain canon.

    Quote from youwillneverknow

How bout DIII- Diablo has corrupted an angel (probably Imperius), The angels pick up on this and strip Imperius of his powers and send him to sanctuary for humans to deal with, Unfortanetly they underestimate the power of a demonic-angel and Imperius brings back Diablo and the two wage war on heaven and sanctuary. The ending battle is fighting Diablo and Imperius at the same time.
I disagree with that, but since my reasoning for that is based on the Sin War novels and you reject that as a basis for the story in D3, I guess all I can say is: who is Imperius?

    Quote from youwillneverknow

My second theory is that Diablo is the father of both Imperius and Tyrael and Tryael must choose whether or not to join the dark side with Imperius.
    Bwahahha!
