Mar 8, 2012Serpenth posted a message on Diablo 3 Patch 14 - Patch NotesLooks good. The much needed skill UI improvements were made and I don't think anyone will complain about hardcore mode being unlocked at level 10. I am hoping they just let you start a hardcore character in release but I see why they have limited it for beta. IMO getting a character to level 10 at release will be a stupid requirement. Just let people make a lvl 1 hardcore. Again though I see why they did it for the beta.Posted in: News

Hopefully they may change some of the new skill UI after all. And doubling the mobs damage should quiet some whiners.Posted in: News

Mar 3, 2012Serpenth posted a message on Diablo 3 - Release Date RumorWhile they said they will announce around two months before release, which is standard, I would assume anyone interested in Diablo 3 has already pre ordered their desired editions / people have have been prepared for months. They could get away with a short notice.Posted in: News

Jan 25, 2012Serpenth posted a message on No BlizzCon in 2012 - Battle.net World ChampionshipMakes sense really. I would imagine and am hopeful that Diablo 3, MoP, and Heart of the Swarm would be out by October. Not sure about Heart of the Swarm haven't looked at it as I've only recently picked up SC .. but watching last years blizzcon I thought to myself.."what are they gonna talk about next year?" Talk about patches? Who cares.Posted in: News

The problem with this is that it will result in people still gearing up faster. I'm already skeptical about smart loot because it hastens the gearing process. The problem with the AH is that people gear up faster, clear content faster, and are bored. The Diablo experience is about continuing to farm and hunt for upgrades. While the loot 2.0 proposed changes will enhance the self found experience trading should not be removed from the game. May as well remove gold also.
Yes, the gear we find MUST be better. However I don't want to be able to do MP10 after 3 nights of farming Act V inferno.

I think the objective of Loot 2.0 in combination of removing the AH is the end goal of having less items floating around. First off loot 2.0 will decrease the drop rate of legendary items and increase the quality. I think this will result in more gear staying on accounts. Then removing the AH limits the ability for a player to just go "shopping" I guess I will call it.
I think if Legendary items are more desirable forum trading/chat trading while may increase in volume will increase in variety and quality. Right now you see plenty of threads/posts in chat however most of time the item is considered average. This is an effect the AH has. Without the ability to filter gear to your liking that average piece may become the best item your character ever equips. So while volume increases it won't exactly be "spam" because players will be linking quality items that will intrigue people.
Also now you see players gather 5-10 items then try to sell them in bulk in chat which takes up a lot of space in chat. I think players will be trading items quickly and alone. This is because drops won't be as common and all will be valuable. So if I get a Wizard Chest I know I can trade it quickly for a Barb item (or whatever scenario you want to think of). Also to reduce volume they could break up the trade channels into even smaller regions.
Blizzard has said they have improved chat features coming so I think this will play a big part in the future of trading in Diablo III.

As strongly desired as this changed was I'm actually really surprised with the amount of positive feedback. I was expecting it to be split down the middle, maybe even lean more toward the AH crowd. I've always supported the AH however never depended on it. The game isn't supposed to have one and it's finally going to be right.
Honestly, I'm more excited to see how much balls Blizzard has than the actual removal. I feel as if this past year this has been the discussion of some critical design meetings and the ultimately decided "We'll just try everything to discourage use".
Then with everyone saying "The console version is great cause it has no AH!!" made them cave in. I don't really think the console version is too relevant but the loot system seems to work.

Excellent point here. I'm expecting a change in the curve myself. I think there is two possibilities. One being that they keep the current level experience and have every level after 100 being equal the amount of experience required to go from 99 to 100. Second option is that they change the curve by adding some type of multiplier. I'm not good at math so I'll give a poor example but everyone should understand. Let's say paragon zero to one is 7million experience. The next level will be multiplied by like 1.25. So each level is multiplied. Since the amount is infinite I don't think they will program each experience level required into the game because will hypothetically you could reach level 100,000,000,000,000,000. They will likely program it to multiply each level by x amount of the previous. Or as I suggested first make all levels > 100 equal.

Edit: Well it appears that the legendary flail the Crusader looted is not account bound. However it is level 31. So I would still like to see some clarification on this, I'm fairly confident that it's just due to the Mystic however I want to be 100%, so if anyone catches anything, which I'm sure will happen, be sure to update!

There was a lot of text, but I believe I read loot 2.0 will be a patch. (Today, not from past posts). However I also could be wrong.

This is what they are saying however I'm a little skeptical on this as well, I'm sure we will know for sure shortly. However I still stand with my argument as to people shouldn't complain about their gear becoming brimstones. It was inevitable.

1.) Current gear is shit isn't that what we've been complaining about?
2.) Lol if you thought any itemization changes would be retroactive. You'd be salvaging that bullshit anyways.
3.) Level cap increase - perfect way to put the shitty itemization behind us - your gear will just suck until 60.
