For those who wait D4, aren't you afraid at all? I fear that it will be closer to a children game or somehow else watered down.

What if they are just doing a huge overhaul to Diablo 3 restoring the balance and adding Skovos as a jungle act and a Xiansai as a far east act, maybe hell as a final act.

It'd be a huge and challenging task to reinvent all the classes whereas now they could just add Druid, Amazon and a new class and all by sudden, we have a huge Diablo world instead of once again the same four acts done in D4.

Graphically D3 is pretty much as beautiful it can get without taking more fotorealistic direction and Blizzard is more likely to take more cartoonish direction as far as I have seen.

Jokes aside, that's exactly what we are missing from the game. Whispering the mysterious word combinations and shouting aloud as we find a rune we have never looted before... and finally, completing that word.

You're speaking the truth there. Paragons need at least revamp in what happens after P800. It is very boring that we can spend only in main stats after that. If Runewords were brought back, there would be a great need of nerfing the sets and some overpowered legendaries to keep the powercreep on chains.

But at the end of the day, why do we play this game? For me it's the action and the excitement with glass cannon builds. Equally engaging is to theorize what would make the build better and finally, it is always exciting to wonder if something great is going to drop soon. Only the action is there properly now.

    Action

    The best you can buy.

    Designing the build

We can design our builds to the point but eventually we are forced to change our experimental gear to the usual ones like CoE if we want to proceed. Of course we don't have to but there's surely not enough ways to get the high GRs currently. I like to push my T13 build eventhough it is not the most powerful one but surely there's not enough variations to proceed over GR80. I don't care if there's some top build but I do prefer that there's 20 builds rather than 10 builds capable of GR90+. (numbers out of nowhere). All in all, I don't care if some people can do GR120 if I get tens of options how to do GR90 build. I'm yearning for Runewords to give the final dimension to multiply the amount of GR90+ builds.

    Finding the loot

As stated in OP, Diablo has always been about findng the loot and currently it is only finding the same loot with slightly better stats. Runewords would provide a way out of that rabbit hole. At last there would be loot we can dream of that isn't mandatory in terms of power but gives a nice little boost or gimmick when found. There's surely aim for that as they introduced Primals. I still remember getting my first Wand of Woh and definitely remember getting several items in D2. Current D3 is almost like when players bought items from AH. There needs to be more than that. Primals were good try but definitely not 10/10.

One could say same of Legendary Gems. Yet still they're the best Diablo 3's own invention. Still I use some gems not best in slot just for fun and for experimenting. More dimensions in builds equals to more fun.

I appreciate your point of view. However, I adore the potential in the system itself giving choices for the player. Nowadays current devs are pretty careful not to give too powerful builds so there's no fear for enigmas. It would be nerfed anyway.

Although they could simply add couple of gems like

    Jade Relic
    Opal Relic
    Sapphire Relic

    As rare as consumables.

These could be placed in sockets to form interesting gemwords with normal gems:

Opal Relic + Ruby + Jade Relic

    • Double your life generation

Then you would have to decide, in which gear you place that ruby. And in some cases, are you willing to sacrifice a leg gem socket for a gemword.

In Diablo 3, every item is pretty easily aqcuired and then it's just about how good rolls we can get. The system is engaging but still missing depth and excitement for those, who play a lot. and for those, who want to give a thought for the build decisions.

Something like Runewords system is missing, as then we could always wonder if something exciting drops behind the corner. Not exactly as they were, but similar, perhaps formed through gear instead of single item's sockets. Every item could have a seperate socket for runes forming the word throughout the gear and one rune could pe part of multiple runewords.

At this point, Runewords can't be very powerful. Something like "200 to all resistances" could be one good runeword. What do you think?

LoN buffs all ancient legendaries. On top of that, the new amulet would give an extra buff for all those miserable legendaries that devs would grant with a lowered tier.

So you could use the new amulet with LoN and get over 2000% increased damage with poor legendaries making it sub-par with a some set bonuses. Of course, you could mix a few good legendaries in as there's LoN for a legendary bonus + only the LoN bonus.

Quick LoN + new amulet example as I'm in hurry:

Helm: Tempo of Twilight (low) +200% (100% from LoN and 100% from new amulet)

Armor: Cindercoat (normal) +100% (LoN only)

    Boots: Illusory Boots (low) +200%

Weapon: Wand of Woh (normal) +100%

    And so on.

    Greetings!

What if all the unused legendaries were dropped down to a "low legendary" tier and then there would be a new amulet granting a "100% increased damage for each weared low legendary".

Imagine getting 100% more damage by wearing Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker or Wyrdward.

It would make a lot more interesting LoN builds and sets could have a slightly different legendaries in some variations. Devs wouldn't need to address each legendary seperately.

I wonder when we are going to see a build where is two sets with 3/6 items and not having RoRG.

Or simply make every CoE ethereal to make at least a slight drawback for using it :) oh well, then we'd just cube it.

There should be one powerful item in the game that cannot be repaired making it engaged with Zakara's.

Yeah it's wonder why they prefer 35 over 60.

And it is very dumb that we can success these crifts simply hitting all the buttons without any skill.

@D2 A3 yes that was defintely good A1 as well though.

But I still just love Diablo1 100lvls under the cathedral that was epic stuff!

Honestly, the atmosphere in D1 & 2 were better in general. A lot darker and more "hellish"

True but on the other hand I'm very pleased that Diablo 3 is still being "serious" compared to other Blizzard titles. D3 is like a painting, a very beautiful peace of art. That's why I would like to see D3 being still updated. I fear that D4 is not a proper Diablo game anymore.
You might want to visit Forgotten Well in the Shrouded Moors. That's probably the darkest place in Diablo 3! Not hellish though, but refreshingly dark.

Haven't read couple of last pages but as I just tested the Necro CR, I suggest the following:

Raise the the GR level by 3-5 each clear and call them tiers.

    CR Tier 1: 30
    CR Tier 2: 33
    CR Tier 3: 36
    CR Tier 4: 39
    CR Tier 5: 42..

The point here is that there could be a leaderboard for all the tiers (5?) so those who want to compete in a lower tier having around 5 minute clear times, could do that. And those who want to compete in other way challenging tiers around 15 minute clears, let them have their own leaderboard.

...And give 3 to 5 bounty materials for each cleared tier.

    Everybody wins, cheers!
