It's a pain to even look at the new skill ui, let alone use it.

I think you need to use those big arrows in the skill selection screen. At least I've seen a monk with lashing tail kick in his defensive skill slot.

So true. I had to ignore his sig, +1, then unignore it. Really annoying.

That's a nice one! Keep up the good work!

    Quote from Fifikus

    @Romique:
No as the skills are set up right now it won't, because it does takes several seconds to switch around, but if there was a tab as I would like there to be, you could battle an barb with your skills, kill him, switch focus to the caster and realize you need other skills, then in a instance (i.e. less than a second) swap to an entire new set of skills to continue battling.

It might be an balance issue, or it might not matter at all, but imo, tabs should be frozen for PvP, so you can skill swap skills, just not quick-swap an entire build.
The tabs in my opinion is useful in PvE to reduce the downtime one might face when having to swap around all the time. Right you people say that it isn't a problem, but I bet that half a year in, when people have been swapping a million times, using maybe 30 sec each time, they would like to have had a quick-swap tab to switch over to another build.
Well, I assumed swapping the entire build will make all the skills unusable for 30 seconds, so I'd rather not use it in pvp even if I had a choice :) Maybe a single spell once in a while. But that doesn't really matter in the end, because I get it so that your idea was to make pve more convinient and I think it pretty much does. Not a necessity, but a nice future patch feature, as some already said in this thread. Though if blizz ever considers it, the priority would be quite low I suppose. As it is difficult to implement and doesn't really change gaming experience that much. At least now I think so, my opinion could easily change once I actually see the game myself.

+1 to what Snaks said, though I'd like to see the game myself to be confident it feels as they say it should (build diversity, flexible skills, a variety of usable prefixes and affixes, awesome gearhunt and so on). If it doesn't, then it was shameless advertisement all along (read "treating us like idiots"). But I tend to believe the game is going to be as awesome as they say.

I think it's a good idea! And skill swapping in the arena shouldn't be an issue thanks to 30s cooldown. Though I also don't have an access to the beta, so maybe there are some problems that I can't see.
True the 30s rule does help towards PvP, but I still think it would be better to freeze skills for PvP seeing how people normally wouldn't have time in a PvP match to swap skills around.
    Quote from Emrys

Skills can't be swapped while in arena.
I see the point, but I don't see any harm in allowing skill swapping with 30s cd, especially in a 15min deathmatch. PVP is about countering, players could find skill swapping useful, but with 30s cd they will be forced to choose wisely. I can't see it ruining balance or something.

Even my female Blood Elf Paladin in WoW I had some connection to because I was looking over her shoulder, but it wasn't on a personal "this is a reflection of me" level, a closer analogy would be that while playing WoW I was reading a book.
Exactly my thoughts. I mentioned my belf toon in the thread earlier and wanted to say that, but for some reason I didn't. When I role-play a character, I start to imagine what would the character do rather then what would I do. And that really feels like reading a book. I like playing RPGs this way much more. Of course the game character can get some of my real character traits, 'cause I'm it's creator, but I won't imagine myself in int's place. But nevertheless I almost never play female characters in games with serious role-play elements. But diablo and WoW? No problem at all.

    female Barb named Snusnu
That's terribly unoriginal, but I will enjoy sooo much playing her :D

Haha, I'm naming my female barb Snusnu as well, it's pretty funny. I think Bashiok said somewhere he would name her female barbarian this way as well. BTW how many character slots are there? Because I'd like a male barbarian as well (but also want to have at least 1 of each class at high level)
Yeah, Bashiok's first character was female barb named Snusnu (or at least he said so) :)
10 character slots for softcore and hardcore characters altogether.
