And I think you fail to understand that the characters in Diablo 3 are not ordinary humans. They are nephalem, a race more powerful than the angels and demons; and we don't know the limits of their power. So you can't argue what the barbarian in Diablo 3 can't do, because you have no basis for that argument.
So to be sure, you are ok with barbarians materializing hundred of pounds of matter above the ground? (Y/N)
Does the concept of classe archetypes ring any bells?
Am I actually arguing with actual people about this? This is surreal.

If you are arguing that the skill just doesn't feel "barbarian-ish" enough, then we can't really argue since that's an entirely subjective viewpoint. You could say the same thing for Ancient Spear since it's a ranged attack, or Call of the Ancients since a it's a summoning skill. IMO, the barbarian has a heavy, earthy feel to him, so it's not entirely out of the scope of his skillset. No, it doesn't make it any logical sense that the projectiles are materializing from nowhere. Half of the skills in this game, or more, don't make any logical sense.

We're not talking logical, b/c that's pointless. We're talking aesthetically, and I have to agree, Avalanche seems too much like a wizard spell. Spear and Weapon Throw, while "magical" still invoke a martial, melee weapon wielding aesthetic. It still "feels" barbaric. Summoning Ancients is borderline, but still, the Ancients do mostly melee damage, or throw martial weapons. Avalanche is different. It's pure elemental spellcasting. It's the perfect Druid spell (and yeah, Druids and Barbs are related, but there was that schism for a reason).

Imagine that, items that make your character immune to monster damage were overpowered and made the game trivial.

posted a message on PH? Crushing blows?
Has anyone done high level theorycrafting on Crushing Blow? Does normal/crit damage add into a CB? You swing, you land a CB, then you add on your normal/crit damage on top, right? Or can a CB crit (which would be absolutely hilarious)?

posted a message on How do you guys feel about Bounty and Rifts?
From the Twitch streams I've seen, the bounties are very repetitive, and aren't really all that interesting. Rifts, however, look bananas awesome.

Yes, RoS is terrible because it doesn't have raiding.

Jesus Christ, DiabloFans... what have you turned into?
After watching the comments on a few twitches I am not that surprised, seems 99% of posters seems a bit daft. Most common question for 2 days has been what is PH?

Only one really worth watching has been Jaetch so far and Kripp to some extent, he isn't that bad when he is just chilling at least he doesn't keep screaming like some others. Some play the crusader with bugged beam and abuse the horse and speeds around like a WW barb on steroids, not very interesting to watch especially since he seems to think it is intended. Another bitched and moaned for 10 mins when he found a bug that destroyed an item.

Was a bit fun to see how fast people left them as soon as people like Jaetch and Kripp started, really showed that only reason they had so many viewers was they had no competition.

If the bugged Hammer of Dawn and Flaming Horse are what works the best, why wouldn't he think it's intended? PermaZerk and PermaArchon weren't considered intended?

It doesn't have any reason to gear up other than gearing up. That's not sustainable. There's no PvP, and now, there's no trading economy. There's no goal, PvE or PvP wise, and therefore, you may as well buy the console version so you can trade it in for Gamestop credit.

Yeah, when they showed off the "everything is now BoA" it pretty much confirmed their long term vision of the game; it's a console game you play, you beat, and you put away. There is nothing to do w/ any of this gear. There are no Raids, there is no PvP ladder, there isn't even a trading economy. At least when the RMAH was around, there was financial incentive to keep the game fresh, to add new content and to keep stringing people along. This, this is a game you trade in at Gamestop for Assassin's Creed IV. Except you can't do that on PC.

posted a message on ROS Primary v. Secondary Stats

hey - i think i was unclear - i meant on the items themselves that drop - they are broken down into categories. why are they broken out though - does it have to do with enchanting the items (i.e. you can only enchant certain stuff)? does it have any purpose other than for making it easier to analyze items?

All items have primary and secondary rolls now. Primary are damage and defense only; whereas, secondary is everything else. This means that a health globe roll/etc is not competing against an average damage/crit/crit damage/etc roll. You cannot have six damage stats any more... and therefore a non damage start is now worthwhile.

But you can still get trifecta+main stat, right?

I hope the font for stuff on the ground isn't permanent. I liked the old font better.

What with the "PH" on items?

Place Holder- question is what the heck does that mean?

If it's anything like WoW, it means the art isn't done yet, so when you put the gear on it'll look like something else that's not the final look.

Seeing the changes coming to Mystic Ally (Monk), there is NO excuse for the current versions of armors, Magic Weapon, or Barb's shouts. Something should happen when you push the button, and you should think about when and where you want to push that button. Mystic Ally looks MUCH better, it's exactly the kind of solution to this problem. It'd be interesting to see if they extend this to Doctor pets somehow.

Maybe sacrifice could be blended into the dogs somehow? Like, the Summon Dogs skill passively creates 3 dogs and rebirths them a few seconds after they die. You can activate the skill to blow them all up, but on a cooldown.

The different runes could have effects for the dog type and explosion type.
That was my first thought as well. They have to do something, b/c Sacrifice is worthless w/o the cooldown gear.

I dunno, I don't really like "all cooldowns" type effects. They just seem too powerful. The only one that feels okay is Grave Injustice, b/c that only triggers on monster death. Maybe diminishing returns? Maybe a minimum floor (say 20 seconds for Wrath or Archon or other God Mode button)?

Don't mess up quivers, you tossers. Give other classes a reason to use two handed weapons.
