posted a message on Diablo 3 Passes South Korea's GRB. "Many More" Beta Invites, Book of Cain, Wizard's Hydra, Screenshots
If Blizzard had any balls, if Korea doesn't want an RMAH, they don't get D3, period. They just gave the 3rd party sellers a giant, lucrative, EXCLUSIVE market to work in. This gives hackers/account thieves a great big income stream, which keeps them fed and working, which puts other people's accounts at risk. This whole thing smells suspicious. I wonder, who has authority over this Ratings Board? Direct voters? Executive branch equivalent? Parliment/Congress equivalent? I don't know much about South Korean government.

posted a message on Development Article Soon, What's NOT Delaying the Game, Zarhym on "The Big Meeting"
Personally, I don't want the game released b/c of some sense of entitlement. I don't want D3 to turn into Duke Nukem Forever or Chinese Democracy, so overdone, so over polished, so bloated, and eventually irrelevant b/c the artwork missed its rightful place in chronology. Those two works were destroyed by hubris. At some point, you leave perfection to the gods, and release what you have. Hell, having it in players' hands gives you more feedback, and you can fix problems or get new ideas quicker when there are millions of people playing it.

Basically, When It's Done is a good philosophy, compared to the buggy, unfinished messes we usually see in this industry. But at some point, you're firing your third guitarist, rewriting the core engine, and adding features that were never inteded to fit into the scope of the original project. The noodling on the rune system (to me at least) appears to be at that point. Make them drops, save ranks 6 and 7 as hard to get craft recipes, and stop. There isn't anything you can add to them right this second that is worth the extra delay. If there is something awesome you can add to them (random affixes, ranged stats, unattuned gambling), add it in a patch or the expansion.

Or they're really and trully bulls---ing everyone, and they can't get their servers working, the RMAH has cracks in it, etc. Either way, SC2 development seemed much, much smoother, and definitely had a lot more concrete, under the hood stuff that the devs discussed w/ the fans.

Gee, it's almost as if Twitter is a terrible way to communicate important things. Or that employees shouldn't use their personal Twitter space to talk about work-related things. What the hell did he think would happen?

posted a message on how much precision does it take to increase crit?
    Quote from WishedHeHadBeta

    Quote from Ayr_Izaelle

We get the idea of such builds the problem is even with those the output is better if you gear toward attack. You get your critchance out of your skills, this is 100% fine, but sacrificing say 500 attack to get 500 precision isn't worth it.

Well to be fair it is not worth it if you do not have a minimum of attack already, once you reach this minimum its fine to go precision. The question is still unanswered if these kind of builds lower this minimum low enough to make it good.

did you read everything i said? i said its NOT for damage its for FURY generation from "no escape" passive on crits.... so completely take dmg out of the equation. in order for my build to work ill need tons of crit.

i want to constantly stay away from mobs and just spam weapon throw, in order for that to be possible i need an insane amount of crit. and having to constantly run up to mobs and do overpower for a 5 second crit increase or wait for revenge to proc for a 10 second crit increase id like to be able to constantly kite around and never have to melee creeps, 100% ranged barb is what im shooting for and thats not possible without a crazy high average crit at all times.

Yep. That's something that doesn't show up in the plain math analysis. There are a LOT of utility benefits to crit across the classes/runes. Some people want to crit for reasons unrelated to damage (life leech, cooldown supression, resource generation, CC, etc). The damage is just a perk. I kinda wish more classes had more weird options for crit builds. And Doctors need SOMETHING for crit.

posted a message on DPS Meter
DPS is a lousy stat to track, anyway. Most monsters are supposed to die very, very quickly. The ones that aren't require some tactics, which doesn't translate into flat DPS. Especially given the random nature of monster affixes and potential overlap of multiple champion groups/events. You'll need a lot of non-DPS abilities to deal w/ what the game throws at you.

However, I would LOVE to see an EKPH meter (Elite Kills Per Hour, Elite being defined as champions, rares, mini-bosses and bosses). Since that's where the phat loot comes from, that's the most important statistic. EKPH is a function of almost everything, your damage, AoE, CC, defense, movement, group tactics, merc tactics, resource management, etc. That would be a more useful stat to track and experiment w/.

posted a message on Diablo 3 on Consoles, Electrocute Runed, New Game System Info Soon, Diablo 3 Comic
Josh has been lead on the console project since Blizzcon. He gave a lot of interviews, most of which were dodging questions about when the console version would come out (deja vu).

Yep, I saw that too. The guy hits the nail on the head. But then you read some of the responses, or the responses in the other thread Bashiok responded to, and realize that the intended audience just doesn't care to actually listen to any position they didn't agree w/ initially. You know, like politics and religion.

posted a message on Monk: "Me so thorny!"
Does thorn damage scale w/ Attack? Other than a few passives and Retribution/Storm Armor/rune effects, is there a way to scale up the thorns damage aside from just stacking it?

Any beta testers know whether the Attack stat boosts Thorns damage? Does Thorns damage scale w/ anything other than a couple of passives? (Ignoring Retribution Mantra/Aura and similar effects from runes, which are percentages of incoming damage).

posted a message on Do you want some sort of rank for your pvp?
I do like the SC2 approach. Global rankings aren't very helpful. Being ranked 187,872 in the world doesn't mean anything much. But being ranked 1 in your league is good, and breaking it up by divisions gives more concrete goals.
