In an attempt to position my group of friends to be at similar levels going into the weekend, I have put a good amount of time trying to assimilate all available information regarding "Rushing" another player through the game and while there isn't a boatload of great information (and I wish I would've gathered more data during the Beta), here are my numbered conclusions with my assumptions following.
1) The greatest gap to allow in a game between friends is 7 levels. (e.g. level 30 and level 37 in a game with level 37 mobs).
- The level 30 will gain the same amount of XP killing a level 37 as a level 38.
- As the level gap between two players increases, the lower level character gets less XP (if the level 37 dings 38, the XP gained by the level 30 will be noticeably cut.
2) It will take roughly 1 hour per level ON AVERAGE until level 50.
- Most Blizzard games have a linear increase of time necessary to complete each level.
- Other checkpoint estimates are:
11 hours to level 21 (~30 mins per level);
16 hours to level 29 (38 mins/level);
24 hours to level 38 (~1h per level);
32h to level 43 (~1.5 hours/level);
46h to level 50 (2h per level)
Thoughts?
Here is the problem:
You and all the "We can make 60 in 30-60 hour" people all assume that the leveling rate is going to stay the same.
Blizzard has told us repeatedly that you will probably get ass kicked a lot in Nightmare and up, slowing you down. XP doesn't vastly increase as difficulty does, so if you are getting your ass kicked, you actually end up slowing down a LOT taking longer to level.
I wont make predictions because ultimately, we don't know yet and it will all depend on how hard Nightmare and Hell really are.
The only thing we DO know is that it has taken developers about 25 hours on first play throughs and between 15-18 hours on second and up runs.
Of course, everybody assumes that going through Nightmare and Hell will just be faster. For all we know, it takes 3 times longer.
Yep, they did say a while back that you could only have 1 per account.
You can however upgrade the version, so if you have a Standard Account you can upgrade it to the collector's ed.
This only applies to Diablo 3 at the moment, as you can have multiple WoW & SC2 accounts (and the older Blizz games like D2)
Edit:
Found some refrences and a correction you can only have 1 SC2 accout per region (so you can have multiples if they are SEA, US, EU etc)
I just can't agree with this statement. Not that playing itself isn't or shouldn't be fun, of course it is/should. But this sounds like theorycrafting isn't supposed to be fun, while the opposite is true.
I mean, spending time at the "drawing board", doing research, figuring things out and then seeing them work out ingame ("work out" as in being noticeably stronger than before, just by virtue of having made the right -well thought out- choices) is so much more rewarding and complex as a game system than a game, in which you can only decide between doing red or yellow combat animations.
It's a night and day difference, like American Football vs 100m sprints. In the latter you can't improve via the use of your brain. There is no tactics, no nothing, trained animals can do this, in fact they do. AF on the other hand, well, most of you know the game better than I do, there is so much strategy and tactics involved, so much potential to outsmart the competition.
To me, a game that doesn't have this, is rather boring. And not to insult anyone, but such games are made for kids, seriously. They lack a whole dimension of fun.

Well I agree with him 100%.
I have no desire any more to sit like an idiot for hours on end just working out the proper way to play things, then finding out that oh ya, the skill I did the math on? Its still gimped.
I am not sure if blizzard has announced any plans, but it would be really cool if we could check out our characters on the battlenet website or have a third party app that we could use to show off our gear/weapons and such.
What would you like to see, and do you think this will happen?
There will be a feature similar to WoW where your character is fully online. They said it would be a few months after release though.
It is stupid fucking questions like this: So, what is the incentive for players to fight their butt off in order to get to later Act in inferno? Just to prove because they can?
That make me roll my eyes. Why play games at all? Duh. Dumbasses.

If anything, they will be biased against blizzard because they will want to show how "tough" they are.

Most of it, might of missed a few paragraphs.

If you did have it maxed, you would be lacking in everything else, which would cause issues.

On the flip side, at least Blizzard makes it so you CAN play the game on a low system.

Ok thanks.

Are we allowed to register multiple Diablo 3 keys on the same game account as we can with WoW, getting a "which account" prompt when we log in?
Or do we need to have multiple Blizzard accounts, one for each Diablo 3 account?
Does anybody know what the story is here yet?
