posted a message on DiabloFans Calculator Build Contest (ONE POST ONLY)
I went for a balance of high damage and Arcane Power Regen with some utilities thrown in. I am mainly worried about the difficulty later on and would like to be able to solo my way through without being stuck because of ability choice. I wanted a taste of all rather than focusing all on damage or all on defense.

    The Build:

    http://us.battle.net...jUOm!YTX!Ybabac

    Primary: Magic Missile with Attunement

Magic Missile: causes 110% weapon damage as Arcane
Attunement: When Magic Missile hits it rewards 4 Arcane power

Reasoning: I wanted to have a way to cause damage as well as gain arcane power.

    Secondary: Arcane Orb with Obliteration

Arcane Orb: Orb of energy that causes 250% weapon damage as Arcane(35 Arcane Power)
Obliteration: Increases the damage of arcane orb to 325%

Reasoning: Needed a hard hitting attack that sticks to Arcane damage.

    Defensive: Teleport with Safe Passage

Teleport: Teleport 35 yards away ( 15 Arcane Power, 16 Second cooldown)
Safe Passage: After Casting teleport, damage is reduced by 30% for 4 seconds.

Reasoning: When I am in a tight spot having a teleport that helps reduce damage taken will be more than useful during higher difficulty encounters.

Arcane: Energy Twister with Gale Force

Energy Twister: Twister of energy causing 425% weapon damage ( 35 Arcane Power)
Gale Force: Increases the Damage of Energy Twister to 565% weapon damage

Reasoning: Highly Effective Area of effect spell that should help mow down big groups.

Conjuration: Energy Armor with Prismatic Armor

Energy Armor: Armor increased by 65% but lower Arcane Power by 20 (Last 30 sec)
Prismatic Armor: Increase all resistances by 40%

Reasoning: Loss of total arcane power but with Magic Missile (Attunement) and the increase to all resistance more than makes up for it.

    Mastery: Archon with Improved Archon

Archon: Turn into a being of Pure Energy for 15 seconds (1 second added to every kill). Normal abilties are replaced with powerful Archon abilites. Armor and Resistance Increased by 40%. (120 second cooldown, 25 Arcane power.
Improved Archon: Damage in Archon form increased by 25%

Reasoning: The increase to defenses all well as a boost to damage will play well when soloing. As well as the increase in the time in the form from killing enemies.

Passives: Glass Cannon, Arcane Dynamo, Astral Presence

Glass Cannon: Increase Damage by 15% but reduce armor and defense by 10%

Reasoning: With the increased to resistance and armor from Archon and Energy Armor, it does not seem that losing 10% will harm me over the gain in overall damage.

Arcane Dynamo: 5 Signature spells hat deal damage (Magic Missile) give a buff that after 5 will cause your next non-signature move to do 75% more damage.

Reasoning: With Magic Missile giving me Arcane power and adding a damage buff after 5 hits, makes this a really cool way to kill two birds with 1 stone. It should work well with other skills.

Astral Presence: Increase Arcane Power by 20 and Regen by 2 per second.

Reasoning: Negates Energy Armor decreasing Arcane Power on top of gaining Arcane power regeneration.

From what I had heard.. The announcement for the release will be from twitter.. I would say, since jay said "near future", we are looking at the next few weeks we will get an announcement on the release date. Early March honestly.

And if early March is the announcement then I would think the game will be in our hand by late April- Mid May.

Of course you never know with Blizzard but typically after the announcement they give us a month or 2 to sweat it out.

posted a message on Happy with 4 player co-op?
Having 4 players is a good balance for those who enjoy groups/guilds and those who enjoy more solo play. The game is designed for a pick up and play attitude rather than like WoW where a lot of the content can't be seen without a large group of people.

Personally what I will be doing is finding good combination of 4 players to run through the higher difficulties with. I want to find a balance of crowd control and damage along with all sort of debuffs during difficult encounters. Being able to coordinate with a small group of buddies and tear it up seems like a good thing after dealing with big raids.

posted a message on What if you won a Beta Key?
For all those who Im sure are posting on these forums for a Beta key, I am wondering what would be your goals if you won.

What would you want to test out and why?
What class would you play and why?
What would you most be excited about being able to test out?

For me, I would love to test you the wizard first and foremost. I have always enjoyed the wizard and would like to see how they plays in D3. I was a big Magic Find type of person and I would like to see if that same attraction is there as it was in D2. Mainly though im excited about testing out the new skill/rune system to see how it plays out in the game. This honestly would be the make or break for the success of this game because it will tell me how the game will be based. A customized skill system might give the enviorment of the game the ability to be challenging and the choices you made on your skills hopefully effect that greatly later on in the higher difficulties. Im hopeful to see the basic verson of the system in the beta.

posted a message on Diablo 3 Boss Mechanics
Honestly I like the idea of a boss being an actual challange and not easily farmed. When you play through the game you get through all the content to kill the final boss. I can only hope that they make the boss drop better loot but at the same time, the fight is too long and difficult for it to be worth farming.

posted a message on No Runewords. Thoughts on why this happened?
Honestly I enjoyed the runeword system and how you used to farm for the pieces to a puzzle to gain a good piece of loot. Way back when, runewords created a sort of adventure to go out and collect all the pieces, which I loved.

I do not mind not seeing runewords on the other hand because we had years and years of Diablo 2 to play around with it and I do not think with D3 that new runes and gear will give it new life but rather aggrevate the player base since we have seen it already. With a new expansion, at least for me, I am looking for new concepts and mechanics to play and master.

I honestly think that blizzard has thought on the same way as this. They are creating a new game which has taken a extremely long time to get ready. They know that putting a old concept like runewords on a brand new game will only make players think they are lazy and couldn't give us new and exciting things. If they are going to take as long as they have on D3, I would rather the game give me a gaming experience I have not had before. In the least continue on with an already awesome franchise that Diablo Universe has become.

The way items will be randomized in D3 along with the new rune/skill system which will be a lot more exciting than if they brought back runewords. I am excited to be able to play D3 either in beta or live but I dont want to play something I have done before. It was awesome back then but it is best to leave it in the past. Give us new stuff to play with :)

posted a message on Thoughts on New Skill & Rune Changes
I am not going to lie and say I was not a little upset at the idea of runestones going away. I want the opportunity to customize my class and skills in a variety of ways in order to play the class how I prefer.

I do get that farming for runestones in order to make life easier, while you are still trying to progress through the game, will become more of a grind than anything else. We would be looking at nearly 3000 different runestones in the game due to there being 100+ skills and their variations with each runestone. I can understand the problem if there are certain level runestone for this or that ability that is bugged. It would be a bigger headache than anything. I liked the runestone system but I do not want the game to be flawed after the long wait for the game to be released.

My opinion though is that this new system brings that customization into the game that we wanted for so long, but at the same time, it won't seem like casual players are losing out on the customization of their abilites due to a lack of time to grind out runestones.

I am also pleased with the UI layout with primary, secondary, class specific, and passive skills. Simple UI, but honestly, probably the most effective way when you want to enjoy the game and its mechanics.
I would assume when players start getting past Normal Difficulty they will be thankful for its simplicity.

I am excited to check out how others will manage their skills throughout the game, and to be able to customize my own when a new skill calculator comes out to play with. Next step is to sweet talk Force into a beta key so I can test it out. :)

Here is a SS of a Barbarians Skill Sheet just for some reference:
