as for school not teaching the right things... yes, i am currently learning about implicit differentiations and other stuff in my calculus class, i still can not figure out where that is used in real life???? step away from that stuff and prepare us for "the real world" as i hear it often called
With that I will always dissagree... mental work and analysis is used in life all the time. I think English, History, Math, Physical Education, Anatomy, Basic Physics are the important subjects for any kind of person... even though I hate History and I'm bad at English. But the more math you do, the better you are at it, and the better you think in real life.

Hm... Well, if it fits in, it's OK, I don't mind it if it fits in.

I don't like Pokemon so your whole post makes no sense for me. You mention techical stuff that I don't care about at all. I don't care about monsters/techniques. I care for character development and story. Digimon had a good story, at least somewhere, I don't remember it too well. Naruto has good characters. Especially for a cartoon considered "crap". Don't compare something to something else, just look at it "as is", maybe it won't look that bad...

Also, I'm no fanatic. In fact, being a fan of a sci-fi movie sagas, I don't respect fanatism. Or zeal, to be more exact. When people start to go overboard with something they like, they are not normal fans anymore... I'm not a fan of Naruto, I don't collect any cards or anything, I just dl the anime, watch it, and I am happier as I watch it. That's it. If it is fun to watch, it is already worth something. I dislike 90% of any movie or series, you know, I'm also very picky, but I liked Naruto, and I still rate it pretty high. For me, it is a good series, except pointed at kids which results in filler/happy end/illogical. But take the story itself and the characters themselves I consider it quite good.

Wait, your profile says you're 36
Yeah, and my email says my name is David Serfster.:D But I'm 16 and I'm female. I'm just paranoid, some people kept nagging me so I decided not to flash my identity in the profile itself. The birthdate is false.

On Topic: I never exactly understood why welfare was given to unemployed people. And I don't mean old people. I mean young people who simply don't want to work. Why the heck do they get welfare???? The most thing that should be done for them is food and/or shelter. NOT money.

If you are saying goverment should not control education and medicare, then who would?

Regarding money, though, it's actually a pretty common thought that americans are overobsessed in money in every possible way... Of course, as many other "common thoughts", or, should I say, stereotypes, it may be wrong... but a lot of stuff we saw here is really a race for money... and many americans are depressed, have problems losing their job, problems moving... well, that's a more genaral problem rather than world problem... but a lot of them are surely depressed. By "they" I refer to americans we see around.

Yes, that would be annoying, especially since I'm buying it... but as long as they won't ask "Insert disk 2", "Insert disk 7" all the time, it would be OK.

I think you are creating topics that are supposed to be in the Diablo 3 section of the forum. Here: http://www.diablo3.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=6

Considering Diablo 3 isn't even confirmed, no one knows which classes will be there, we can only debate/suggest/want on which will be there: http://www.diablo3.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1288

I really don't see what "Site Suggestions and Questions" has to do with Diablo 3.

If there was a thing society needs, I would agree with Ferret on the integrity part. I don't know what does society need exactly, but I know for a fact that it must agree on it, or else it would be a rabble.

I can hardly observe at my own age yet, but I have gotten the thought that most children are more influenced at schools and by other societies than they are influenced at home. Which means that schools should be paid more attention to. Not all children, of course - some get some sort of barrier. Either it comes from parents or I don't know. I think I had one, and I am absolutely lonely and uncommunicative... I have seen Russian and American schools, as well as both societies, and they are quite different... As FingolfinGR said, schools are models of society. In Russia no one is going to do anything about people walking around drinking beer in schools. Many adult Russians drink a lot. People beat other people up. Adults like to beat people up, too... In America, junk food is sold all over the schools, including those very cafeterias that were supposed to be healthy, and half of America is obese and diabetics.

Parents really can't do anything about it. If a child doesn't do what the rest of the students do, he's not with them. If he's not with them, he's shut out. The only way to change society is not by the parents, but by certain government influence, on parents and on schools. You need all parents at once agree, you need all kids at once agree, all authorities to agree. Yet again, integrity.

This is just my view, of course, and considering my age, I'm not supposed to talk about such stuff anyway.

To Phrozen - oh yes, no TV, and I'm perfectly happy without it. There is NOTHING on there. Stupid Ophrah shows, boring TV series... Even the sci-fi channel is dead, bye-bye Babylon 5, LEXX, FarScape, even Sliders, whatever, nothing, nothing on that stupid TV except commercials, commercials, commercials and boring stuff. Maybe there is some good stuff, but it is not worth all the hassle with commercials. I hate ads. If I need a show, I can get it by other means, without any commercials, mind you.

To Carloseus - why call them crap or bad animes? Maybe they are just anime for kids, they do not necessary need to be serious and logical and all. They are too good to be called crap, what will you call the real crap, then?

DBZ was boring for me. Blasts was all it really consisted of. Digimon was at least freaky with all the digital stuff and illusions and whatever, that's why I liked it. I like freaky stuff...

I despise hentai, by the way, so if some of them are hentai-concentrated, warn me...

Well, I'm a noob in the anime world... I was used to hating anime because I thought anime = Pokemon. And that's what my parents thought, too. I actually think it was pretty common. When I was 10, I saw Digimon and really liked it, especially "Prisoner of the Pyramid", I'll never forget that episode. So my opinion tilted a little from "anime sucks" opinion... yes, Digimon and Pokemon are NOT the same thing, of course, they are both not in the "true anime" section, though... But that was my opinion of anime. It became slightly broader over time after I got around anime-lovers and anime-sites, I heard of Hellsing and others, but I really didn't think there is anything out there that would interest me that much.

Some guy recommended Naruto to me, I was (and still am), during the post-lexxian stage of acceptance of all recommendations, whatever people threw at me I was interested in, so I happilly went to get Naruto and couldn't tear my eyes from it. Yeah, it's hype, it's childish, but I still like it, and I don't care if no one else does because they saw something better. I'm watching in the order from worst to best...

That's pretty much it, I didn't get to see any other anime (I don't have a TV, mind you, and I'm picky at the Japanese/Subbed versions, I only watch them...) yet. I was planning to watch Bleach sometime, but currently I'm busy with, er... FarScape. I have a lot of stuff left to watch.

What I really like about anime, though, is that it isn't a set of unrelated episodes, it's a whole large story, broken up into pieces. Unless it's fillering, of course...

Angel of Death is an anime lover too, isn't he?

Question: What is the most important value a society should uphold?
My question will then be: what do you want the society to achieve? Do you want almost every person in that society happy? Do you want that society to be very strong and withstand everything? Do you want to achieve technological progress?
