Well, I think Blizzard won't let us down. Add a few classes, redo the old ones, change damage calibrations, add something new in, Blizzard always had wonderful ideas. Of that, I do not worry.
Problem # 1 - Photoshop loads ages. And my computer isn't slow. Paint loads in a split of a second.
Problem # 2 - Everyone has Paint. Well, unless he's a Linux user, but they have something else, then.
Problem # 3 - Photoshop's resizing only works well for large images, on small ones, it smudges everything, which is not exactly what I need most of the time when I make avatars.
Problem # 4 - Photoshop's JPEG format is not exactly stable. Sometimes Paint makes smaller JPEG's than Photoshop does at the same quality. Photoshop has a problem with converting to .png, too.
I would prefer 2D because the current 3D graphis in games like NWN 2 are not so good yet. But considering Diablo 3 would come in 2008-9 it may be OK.
I will definately have problems with 2D since I have a 1650x1050 monitor, and a 2D game will have resolutions 800x600, 1024x1280, and just stop there. It is hard to make 2D games in many resolutions.
You don't need a legal game to play with friends, you only need Hamachi - that's what I'm talking about. Currently, with old games, it only makes sense to play with friends or on private servers like PGT, because all other places, hacks everywhere. Even StarCraft! WCII and WoW work, but I play neither, so I can only wait for Diablo III and StarCraft II to buy, so far, no multiplayer for me, unless I get a friend who plays Diablo II/StarCraft...
The bad thing about Blizzard is their support of old games. I bought Diablo 1, could have as well downloaded it - after I went to the multiplyer, people in there were copying items, giving themselves 99999 health, casting apocalypse on level 1, etc... impossible to play properly.
