The prophet Muhammad went to war. There were tribes back then, and when he was spreading his message, many naturally opposed him. What was he to do? Give up? Bribe them? He went to war, he won many, and he went into many cities.
If you go to war to push you religion, and in that war people have died, your religion is officially not peaceful, and your religion is officially built on only the very simple concept of Might Makes Right...

Even wars in self-defense, the negative consequences of those wars are not justified, cannot be overlooked, cannot be ignored, forgiven, forgotten, or whatever, by any code that I care about.

You went to a war, you have no business being a prophet. You have no business saying you are peaceful. You have no business preaching love and forgiveness.

    Oh my God.

Mephy, that first picture is IDENTICAL to the cat we have right now, except slightly different eye position (our's is prettier). o.O

People who hit their children are too lazy to think of better methods. Corporal punishment is overrated. I've seen tons of kids who were considerably more beaten than I am yet continued to behave like idiots and ended up being kind of revengeful against their parents. Especially physical punishment, it calls for a response. Doing the opposite of what you're told. Some kids go the other way, they get scared, rule-following, obedient (in all the wrong places) and develop self esteem issues. Aka, me.

Parents do not know where the line is, unfortunately, and most parents have no idea what's going on in their own kids' heads. So if you're going to discipline someone, make sure your point is understood, and you're not just seen as some idiot tyrant or something. This applies to physical AND mental punishment, though, they're both pretty low on the list.

The reward system works better, anyway. Spoiled kids are not those that weren't beaten, but those that were given too much for too little effort, and haven't encountered limitations. Getting stuff for behaving was always a much better motivation factor than just not being hit for behaving, lol.

posted a message on Hardcore available once softcore is completed fully.
I'd offer it from the start.
There are constantly issues with players who have already completed the game having to play through it with softcore characters because the system didn't record it for one reason or another. As a single player, I actually modified the registry, but that doesn't work for battle.net.

I would never start with a Hardcore character. I'll die in the first 5 levels and I know it. But some people like the fast adaptability that playing your first character on Hardcore requires, and I see no reason to take that away from them.

    Quote from SFJake
By "better" I was only referring to the look/graphics and nothing else, of course. If mapping and modeling really is faster than before, the industry sure as hell isn't showing it with how incredibly expensive it "apparently" is to make games these days.
Just look at the other side of industry. The mainstream industry is leeching from the undercasuals who don't know better. The indie / open source /small company industry, on the other hand, is releasing better and better products (Torchlight, Mount&Blade). How many games were created via the Source SDK, or the TES Construction Set (the work on Total Conversion mods is almost entirely mapping, modeling, and textures). Some dude in Belgium is creating this MMORPG here essentially on his own (the engine is complete, + the models and textures, most of which were made by that dude).

Big companies loose a lot of time because they are stranded by artificial constraints from the size of the company (too many people hard to cooperate) and the marketing department, which almost always leads to a decrease in quality since if you can just copy an area 3 times instead of making the area 3 times as big and about the same amount of people will buy it, then making the game 3 times as big is just a "waste" of resources. And that's what bugs me. I KNOW they can make the game 3 times bigger. Scratch that, they can probably make the game 9 times bigger, with the amount of people and money and time they have. I also know they don't have to because 'you people' will eat it anyway and think it's OK. That's the reason Daggerfall is bigger than Oblivion and Morrowind put together. It's a lot of work and when you stop making games for anything other than money you no longer put in the work you could have.

When a sequel comes out, I expect it to be bigger and better. When such a sequel takes 10 years to create, even more so. That is how it was in the old days. It is no longer so, sequels are just sold on the success of the previous game...

posted a message on Gay Marriage
    Quote from DieHardDiabloFan
Getting bullied in school for having gay parents. Tell me that's not being hurt. That's not exactly a consecuence of gay marriage, but of gays adopting, and that has been legalized too.
This is from the same bank as "women get raped so they shouldn't get out at night", eh?
Blame, punish, and limit the perpetrator, never the victim.
As far as I'm aware, most of the initiators of school shootings in the US did not have gay parents. If people want to bully someone, they'll find a reason. You really won't get much out of trying to be diplomatic with them. You fear them, you let them affect your decisions, they'll just walk over you. You won't get any civil rights movements without the risk.

Bullying is a huge issue in schools, and it affects everyone, gay or not. It needs to be dealt with. It has nothing to do with mentality and everything with the fact that schools continually ignore their own bullying problems and kids are still regarded as something incapable of harm.

Yeah, and when you use credit cards you are giving private info too you know?
Being common doesn't make it a good thing. Again, this info is not searchable (hopefully). Stop avoiding the point.

    Quote from Doomscream
Imo only anti-social nerds and geeks are afraid of sharing their name. A normal outgoing social person will tell you your name when you ask him for.
Some of us are introverts. The majority of video game players, especially ones like Diablo, are introverts. So we're in favor of a system that ignores the main audience of Diablo because...?
If you (Blizzard) have something against geeks, nerds, and people who are not outgoing and social (what good do those people do anyway), you're in the wrong market.
[And I'm not even going into how wrong and biased and fucked up and negative that attitude is, I think people like you should be <insert something bad here> just for your disregard of fellow human beings different from yourself.]

    Quote from Doomscream
Imagine someone actually pretending to be a woman in order to get free stuff from the guild (or something like that), now he would be mad and really afraid because of this.
Imagine someone making a new account and using a fake female name. His name is now displayed and everyone believes he's female, since many people are just like you and think the system is failproof.

More like a "message", an idea, both which Diablo, HP and Twilight have about the same: entertainment. Rephrased: something to say about something meaningful.
Yeah, I'd have to disagree with you about that one, but this is not an HP thread.

posted a message on Twilight, what's wrong with it?
The fact that Pattinson was voted for as sexiest man alive is enough for me to dislike that movie, because something went amiss somewhere. No offense to the actor it's not his fault it's the fans but wtf? Not to mention that it's an insult to my gender in general... and we have enough stereotypes as it is.
(and I'm talking about the romance elements, I'm completely indifferent to various interpretations of vampires, werewolves, and other creatures that do not exist)
