Dropz posted a message on Diablo 4 system requirements?Posted in: Diablo IV: Return to DarknessI think minimum requirements of a Gen9 Intel processor is way over to the top. Don't even think it will be a Gen9 processor for the recommended specs.
Gpu wise I think you are over the top aswell, blizzard is very good at making games that run good on potato powered pc's.

I know it will not have any impact on guessing the requirements and some of this is overkill for max settings, but just for the record the demo PCs were running 9900k and rtx 2080s with 32 gb ram.

D4 is quite literally years away. At least three is my guess, closer to 4 most likely. What we saw is pre alpha. 2020's blizzcon most likely will show us at least 1 of the remaining classes to be announced, probably both. 2021 Blizzcon will either show the 2nd, or just the rest of the systems they decided on. Might get some beta news after, and if we're lucky a launch sometime late in 2022. 4
Yeah I would bet money on both classes being playable next year at the con. I can't imagine them not having a playable class and having to develop itemization, combat, etc., with only three classes. I feel like it would be like the baseline for moving forward on many fronts.
Also agree with @WishesHeHadBeta on the timeline. Makes sense on many fronts.
It's also usually the case that what we see at BlizzCon is usually a bit behind what they actually have internally. For instance, the next wow raid area they showed off in one of the panels was already datamined showing a lot more progress before the event.

From what I've seen so far, I got the impression from the Devs that you won't run into random people while roaming except for towns and group events. I could be wrong.
The impression I got was that you will encounter other players, but they can't influence you. The demo seemed to echo this as well. But I don't know if them not being able to influence you doesn't mean they can't influence your mobs (which to me is directly influencing the player). I know one of the devs mentioned a player cap for certain areas (the whole open zone) and that it isn't exactly a small cap (40 ish) in Diablo terms.

Because people have yet to overcome the impossibility to accept the "optional" concept of content that is there NOT FOR EVERYONE. They think that if it's there they are forced to play that way. They fail to understand that they're not the only people in the world and that maybe the majority would use such a feature . It's a feature that it's on top of the base experience, entirely optional, and not necessary to achieve end game.
Blizz said the Open world feature is “optional”? Where did they say this? I was under the impression you didn’t have a choice in sharing whatever world you’re in.
The only diablo game that wasn't open world is Diablo 1 with optional multiplayer.
Diablo 2 and 3 were open world in the sense that you got to explore the world of sanctuary.
Both had optional multiplayer service, with diablo 3 requiring constant connection to the bnet service in order to play.
That isn't what open world means, atleast not in this context. It seems people are concerned about outside influence from other players while they are playing. Being that the "top world" is sort of like an open lobby. Diablo 1-3 are all instances in that regard.
I'm indifferent on this design choice, world bosses could be fun, but because they spoke about how unobtrusive it could be it kind of sounds like they are half assing 2 different game designs.
As long as you can't be influenced by other players unless you specifically choose to be (questing and not having all your mobs killed, vip kills can't be stolen, etc vs when I run to a world boss and expect the help or other situations that are unsoloable) but actually accomplishing that will be difficult.

Magistrate,
I’m still not understanding how blizzard specifically said there will be hundreds of players in your “world”, yet somehow we won’t encounter them a lot when we’re out fighting monsters? How does that make sense? Like in WoW, certain “servers” have very high populations and you’ll constantly find it difficult to complete quests because of overcrowding. That’s specifically what I’m concerned about.
WishesHeHadBeta,
Because they're spread out over many dungeon instances and a huge open world, and phased according to the type of content being done. There's hundreds of dungeons, and that map is only one of, I want to say three. And we only saw a small portion of it. And it accommodated hundreds of demo players fine.
This is why they also said that the number of players you see depends on what you're doing. A huge world boss looks like a dozen or more and it zooms out to accommodate, but they also said these will be rare. Most of the content is scaled to only a couple players in your visible area.

Foensh posted a message on D4 is just D3 reskinned. Cmon.Posted in: Diablo IV: Return to DarknessBefore the release of Diablo 3 vanilla they also said they would release a future PVP patch. I think it was even written on the back of the game retail box.
There was also a video with a big boss showing that never made it into the actual game.
I would take everything they say with a big grain of salt...

QueresoBife posted a message on Feedback and suggestions on Diablo 4Posted in: Diablo IV: Return to DarknessJust PLEASE make Diablo IV harder.
At this point Diablo is really easy, you can get everything alone. Yes it can take time but it is possible. If D4, at high levels, was harder, that you would need to find a team or play with somebody else, that would be perfect, it would add a little bit of challenge to the game.

Not sure why people keep saying this about D3. D3 was only “easy mode” if you purposefully made it easy. They allowed you to adjust the difficulty to whatever you wanted from the start. If it felt too easy? Immediately switch to Hell difficulty or higher to make it more challenging. Except this isn’t what most people did. Most people kept it easy or just barley hard enough to find good gear and then slowly ramped up difficulty so it never felt “hard”. But that was their choice.
You’re talking about the game forcing you into it being challenging from the beginning, without choice. Like D2 did. The Problem is Blizzard wants to cater to a larger audience, so they have to make at least an optional “easy mode” for that crowd from the start. If you like the game to be harder, just ramp up the difficulty in settings. *thumbs up*

Well first of all, 2022 is only 3 years away, not 4. It’s the end of 2019... lol. And second, considering blizz specifically said they don’t want it to be like D3’s development, Which was released 4 years after its announcement, only because it had major development issues. Best guess is D4 will go into closed beta sometime in 2021 and if all goes well, be released end of that year.

If you want to post the list here and respond that’s cool, but linking to your YouTube video in a forum for more views is kinda lame dude.

Lol you guys think the mere inclusion of skill “cooldowns” makes diablo like WoW? And instead you want all spells to be spammable and that’s “more fun” than having to strategize around certain ability Cooldowns?
First of all, in D2 you literally only used 2 skills. That’s it. In reality the gameplay of D2 was incredibly boring because of its extreme limitations. The D3 skill system sucked because there were no “skill points”, but the ability to use 5-6 different skills definitely needs to stay in D4.
1
Blizzard admitted that D3 development got fucked up and delayed 3-4 times after they announced it. So unless D4 has some major issues like D3 did, it wont take 5-7 years, it’ll just be a couple more. But ya I agree it’ll be in either Beta or at the very least Alpha sometime in 2021.

Giving us what we already wanted back in D3 isnt some amazing new concept we should praise them for, it’s literally the bare-minimum of what they should/could do with it. We deserve this game at the very least, which is why I’m still slightly disappointed even though the game looks pretty good.
2
The gameplay also looks the same from the demo. So they added PVP, cool. They should’ve had PVP in D3 from the beginning. Acting like it’s some cool new concept isn’t a bonus, it’s a slap in the face. ‘open world’ was never a concept Diablo players cared or asked for. The only other thing ‘new’ is riding mounts and auto-climbing walls you click on. (Wow alert). Blizz also said they’re adding a monetization aspect to D4. Which might also kill the gameplay for anyone who doesn’t want to spend real money.
