Can anyone with an active Blizzard account put up a forum post asking for bashiok or someone to release information as to how many of each class are created at launch/in the first few days. Or other such fun statistics?

D1 and D2 were awesome for their time. But honestly, I'm not sure how old you are, but picking it up now will kind of be lackluster. Personally I started playing when I was about 12, so it was reallllly cool =) But it takes awhile to appreciate the things like the item hunt, trading items with other players, doing baal runs until 4am, realizing a zod rune is never going to drop for you and buying one off the interwebs =P

They were awesome games, and you should give them a go sometime just to have tried them.

I'm 19 so fairly old. Not enough to find any new nostalgia. Like I said, just played torchlight, found it a lot of fun but nothing to spend days on. Multiplayer would change that I'm sure.

Eh I'm in the mood for an old fashioned HARD action rpg, hope D3 has that then. . .

I plan to play it for 2 weeks to give people time to get a good feel for D3 would that be enough? I'm on summer vacation from university and only taking 1 class so I have plenty of hours to put in. Lets say around 64 hours?

I've never personally played D2 and am considering getting it before D3. I've played torchlight so I know the genre but I want to make sure I completely understand how awesome the Diablo series is so I don't get hyped into D3 and I'd like to see some reviews of the game before I purchase it. I plan to play for about 64 hours, in 2 weeks.

My main question is, does D2 have gameplay that would be solid right now? Obviously the graphics aren't modern and so it falls to the gameplay to make the game worth it. While I know it was revolutionary for the action-rpg genre do you think its gameplay would be enough to suck you in today?

Please give me a detailed response, I've seen thousands of "ITS FUCKING AWESOME" posts but I'm looking more toward why it's still awesome today?

    Thanks

Who cares about reviews...we all know the game will be awesome!

sorry to call you out. I know you're just excited.

but posts like that are the reason Blizzard doesn't really need to put any effort into great games anymore. For all the talk of blizzard fanboys please read this article and especially check out the last graph.

posted a message on DH Flop Class?
Over the past couple days as people have been prepping for release they've been setting up their plans for teams. There seems to be a general consensus that the DH doesn't give a lot to teams in DH compared to the Monk(heals), Wiz(AoE), WD, and Barb.

THe DH doesn't seem to give any particular solo perks and so I have to ask, do you think the DH does anything more than ad variety to the game? Obviously it's an awesome class and I'll be playing it personally but it seems to be set up as having only an average potential in solo and a huge disadvantage in co-op. Plus the fact that the DH will likely be widely played it prob won't get buffed.

For all the complaints about the WD and Wizards survivability at least they have strong team potential, do you think the DH has kind of flopped?

    Disclaimers:
I understand that contrary to Jay Wilson's philosophy not everyone thinks of Diablo as a co-op based series , but, since D3 will be designed as such the usual reason for placing in weaker classes only for variety cannot stand since it will hinder players in co-op mode based on an uninformed starting choice.

posted a message on Hell to Inferno
Given: We will hit 60 at the end of Hell

The majority of games I've played tend to have players hit max level on the first playthrough not the third. Content set before the max level also tends to cater to more casual players. As such do you think that Inferno may be incredibly hard but everything up to Hell may not be that difficult. In all honesty I've never played a game on more than two difficulties(and two only in my favorites) and yet find myself expecting to play through Hell in D3 because the gameplay seems planned to end there since skills do. I will probably play through inferno since I expect to love D3, but I'm wondering if people think there's any credence to the theory that while Inferno may be extremely difficult everything up to hell may not be out of a casual player's reach, causing the jump from Hell to Inferno to be huge?

    Looking for discussion on this.

Side Topic: When will less optimized builds stop being viable. i.e. can you be a melee Wiz in late Hell.

posted a message on Playstyle HELP
I was wondering if anyone could impart some knowledge as to the different types of playstyles a WD is known to have. I know there are many but a classification of types would be a huge help (ex:summoner, melee).

I am a huge fan of trap type characters similar to what the assasin looks like in D2 and was wondering what you guys felt was the closet thing? I know that the DH has traps but I rarely find anyone really using them, the Witch Doctor even seems more trap based.

If anyone knows what character seems to best fit that build please let me know.

feel free to drop in some builds if you want to show something specific.

Completely agree, they're pros and wanted to know what they thought was effective.

    Quote from Youarefired

Funny how they think they are the only ones that are trying to be the first. There is most likely players somewhere who are better and don't crave the attention like they do.

Whoever is going for it can have it. I haven't waited 10+ years for a game I will rush through and not enjoy.

Does anyone know what Kripp's opening team is? I know they're having a guy as a monk alternate. This is just personal curiosity.

EDIT: I just found out they're running Barb, Wiz, Witch and one of those three again. The quote is"we're running everything besides Demon Hunter" he goes on to say the Demon Hunter does good speed leveling but they're going for inferno completion.

    Quote from wishedhehadbeta

considering everything is based on weapon damage and we have seen videos/actually used most of the skills so yes theorycrafting is an extremely good tool for getting your base knowledge/skills of the game and will help tremendously when the game comes out. they made it so when MFing you will need to stick to one build but you have plenty of time for trial-and-error before then in normal and nightmare with your builds to perfect them and see what works and what doesnt. we have also seen most of the abilities monsters will have and can calculate theoretically how to handle them so i dont think any pre-build making is done in vein if your actually thinking strategically based on the knowledge we have

But have we really seen most of the powers monsters will have? In every recent interview the devs have talked about all the excess powers.

    I agree with this
    Quote from Keiser

It's sort of like studying for an open book test. You have the book there so theoretically you don't need to know a single thing before starting the test, but if you want to get it done in a reasonable time you can study before and know you'll be able to get all the answers quickly and get full credit for them.

The idea that making a build will only familiarize you with the material enough to speed up the process.
