Yes, the removal of having to create new characters to try new builds reduced the replayability of the game. Maybe I would still be playing if respecs were out, but I probably wouldn't enjoy having to plan things out and respec if I made a single mistake.

Have to agree with this wholeheartedly. I played D2 single player contentedly for almost a solid year, just collecting items, using atma to horde the stuff (still have my stash files too.. hrm). I got miserably bored when I starting using an editor just to move skill points around to test new builds. took another month or so but Totally burnt out. D3 has claimed about 500hrs of my life since release morning, and eh, 70mil (and $30) in the bank and I don't even care since it'll buy maybe one good upgrade or two. Now the only things left in my life are school and my girl. :\

Solo not so viable but it does okay damage if you're playing in a group and can have a tank block the doorway. It's not so great otherwise. you could spirit walk in, and when that cuts out, mass confuse/stun, but overall, meh.

I dont recall exactly what i did but i think at the time i was running a splinters build. I changed out for numbing darts which helped slow him enough to kite him at midrange around the edges of the map enough that his farts would disspate before a full round. I think I also ran soul harvest to use when he dropped some adds, flaming locusts, spirit walk with jaunt, grasp with the 80% slow. Really, i think that should be enough. I think i was at 40k, did have a pair of runspeed boots. To speed things up a bit you could probably add some more easy ranged DoT's like the acid cloud with lbb or others. It's pretty straight forward really, got him on the second try.

are you guys playing SC and HC? also what are you key times of play

SC and HC, yessir. I'm one of the team WD's in softcore, started working on HC, Farming for a bit to get to spec for belial, though he'll probably turn out to be quite the joke.

Schedule? All day every day, brah. But seriously, probably more than half our guild is unemployed, so afternoon to morning seven days a week is pretty regular for the bulk of us. There's at least enough for a decent inferno team 24 hours a day.

posted a message on Skills build: what can we agree/have a consensus with at this point?
I'm of a similar feeling on Soul Harvest but I think it could be manageable depending on whether we can use abilities like Soul Harvest while spirit walking.

Outside of that though I see a few types of builds.

The damage stacking DPS type with Poison Darts/Splinters and DoT(haunt/locusts) and Damage-over-area spells allowing stacking of threeish damage types against limited numbers of targets. Direct CC spells or a Gargantuan will be necessary in place of a team if soloing.

A similar type DPS'er with AoE like firebats, the same haunt/locust DoT on top of area dot. This one is probably better PvM whereas the first may work better for PvP/Bosses. Better in a group I think, especially with Big Bad Voodoo which I think is going to be a pretty standard WD support skill. The bad medicine passive is also important here.

The dps Summoner which is like the first two roughly replacing direct CC spells with summons as distractions while supporting with some DPS.

and the summoner support with limited DPS but lots of additional CC and buff/debuffs. Mass confuse, horrify, in the first case. Hex, Bad Medicine, Acid cloud in the second.

Runes can make some differences but before release it's hard to say for sure. Just what I'm thinking.

You'll probably want some more CC outside of the Garg in case you get mobbed. With all the AoE you've got being able to pick off threateningly close mobs becomes difficult. The Zombie Bears take care of that except that they're a bit on the expensive side. Which brings me to the other concern, mana. You may not have enough of it to spam everything. Try reading some of the other build/criticism threads for some general method for refining your build. Some builds I've been looking at also utilize the Garg for CC but try to maximize overall dps by several stacks of DoT's and a good single-target skill like Darts/Splinters.

If you've still got questions, feel free to ask, there's help enough here even if some of it is getting jaded.

I would reccomend against binding too many things unless that doesn't confuse you in complicated situations.

If the nostromo you've got is the razer gamepad, that should be more than enough. I'm not sure how it works but you should be able to assign it's keys by click, like with a keyboard, in the D3 keybindings menu. The mouse is primarily pointer and your two mouse button skills, I think what you've got is good. I cant say for sure about binding on click with your logitech but I know with mine I can click to bind my browser-back thumb button for vent in it's vent's settings.

Had an old first gen Boomslang 2000dpi ball mouse years and years ago. More recently a few years back I had a copperhead. Now using a logitech g9x.

The six buttons on the hex look handy however I think you might get better reaction speeds if you still use the KB for at least some of the skills. Something about your brain being able to better differentiate actions between both hands.

The one thing that Razer's usually have is a superior interface for dpi settings and macros. How much this will help in d3 is debatable. You could string escape combos or damage combos as a macro and that *could* be helpful I suppose.

Musn't forget that the Sentry also has a healing buff or -15%dmg buff in addition to an extra 20%dps at the cost of a single bloody click.

I'll admit some other skills could be handy but it's definitely not useless for a support type DH.
