posted a message on Achievements: why bother?
    Quote from sponkey21

I don't see any additional content to unlock in diablo. It's not that kind of game. You put in time to get a better character. Achievements can aid in that endeavor. Since when did what has been done in previous games had to be a limitation on current or future games anyway. I don't care about the historical utilization of achievements. I get some people are completionists and just enjoy that kind of thing, but I think that an achievement that took so much effort or skill should also give you even something small like +5 vitality. I highly doubt I am the only one who has ever though of this. Oh yeah, and might I add *ta da* here is more end game content to add some fun goal oriented play time and variety of play and incentive to do things you might not normally do.
Just because you don't see it doesn't mean others might see it differently. Different people think and do different things from you. If you don't care for achievements, then ignore them. Feels to me that you're looking for some consensus to validate your own opinion, as if you're not able to make decisions for yourself...

This is why we have PTRs...so we can catch stuff like this before it's live if possible. Won't catch them all, but some we can.

It's PTR. Give them feedback, see what they fix, and stop the Chicken Little.

posted a message on Release date for 2.1?
As usual with Blizzard, we'll know about the release of 2.1 when it starts downloading. Since they have yet to test seasons, I think it'll be a while. Might even be after WoD release.

All this speculation is just time-wasting. I'm grabbing a few paragon levels and mainly waiting for 2.1, because I like the changes, and want to play in 2.1 when it comes. I have other games to play in the meantime. Nice thing about D3; you pay for it once (well, twice counting expansion) and then never again. And you still get patches for it, unlike some game companies.

(This reveals my pet peeve somewhat when people demand 'new content' like an MMO gets. We're not paying every month for it, so, you shouldn't expect that.)

There's plenty of build diversity. Just because there is an accepted standard build or two for each class for pushing Torment 6, it doesn't mean that there isn't build diversity.
The problem is, blizzard is pushing everyone in only one playstyle: kill everything ASAP. A slow killing juggernaut tank that's near unkillable build ? Sorry, the new rifts are a timer race.
There are other things to do. Yes, Greater Rifts are for speed builds. But that doesn't mean you can't play that tank in other parts of the game.

Seriously, I don't get the "I must play only the ONE TRUE WAY or the absolute most efficient way and forget everything else!" If those ways aren't fun for you, play another way.

I'm back to earning paragon points I get to keep, until they enable seasons on PTR.

If you want to play T6 and/or Greater Rifts a lot, you'll need to min/max and probably play only one or two builds per class.

If you want build diversity, back off the difficulty and have fun.

You can't really do both at once. The math just doesn't make that possible.

There's a lot of players who couldn't care less about T6, and are happy to just play at T1 or T2, and get access to all the torment-only legendaries. Only those who play everything as a competition really care about T6.

I'm pretty happy with the game at the moment. Just remember that by this point in its history, D2 still had TONS of class changes coming. In fact, I'm not sure synergies were even in yet, just a few months after LOD release. Seems like a lot of you (not all) played D2 long after the balance changes were over, and don't remember the mess the game was in the beginning.

Honestly, I think there's got to be some kind of language barrier going on here, because it's pretty obvious that the OP has it backwards. Oh well, I'm out.
Yeah, might as well stop trying to teach the pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

I'm much happier w/o the AH and the trading. Now we actually see usable drops, instead of having to buy them on the AH, and actual legendary and set drops more than once in a blue moon.

I simply avoid PUGs. Too many bad memories from WoW. If I play in a group at all, it's with friends/clan only.

posted a message on 2.1 Release date?
I'd rather test it longer and have less stuff to fix on live, than release it like it is now just to make some segment of the playerbase happy.

Even the most delusional person knows that 2.1 isn't going to be live in two weeks.
I don't even try to guess when Blizzard will release things. I learned in my WoW years that patches and updates show up when they start downloading, and not before. Getting wound up about update X or Y to be next week or two weeks from now is just asking for trouble, imo!

Highly recommend you to roll a DH. Be careful though :)
I'm having a ton of fun with a lightning build, myself. I think a few more changes will make cold an option as well after 2.1.

We might re-evaluate DH after 2.1, since Dex=Armor instead of Dodge after 2.1. Also, Awareness is turned into an auto-resurrect with a cooldown like some other classes have.

posted a message on Greater Rifts are un-rewarding loot wise.
    Quote from Tehstool
Even if they aren't supposed to be the primary source of loot, the "rewards" at the end from completing it don't feel rewarding enough.
Then don't do them. They're for competition, not loot farming. If you want to farm more loot, do more 'profitable' things, and forget about Greater Rifts. Choices are good. Forcing everyone into one thing is bad.
