It won't matter because according to Blizzard the time it takes to install using the discs is = to the time it takes to de-crypt the already pre-downloaded client. (unless they let you de-crypt it a couple hours before launch)

Huh? if I download it now, its encrypted and won't be able to be decrypted until the game is actually released?

Interesting, and a little scary, this is something new thats never been done before, and I'm not sure I want to risk there being Bugs and not able to decrypt the file...

They did it with sc2, I believe.

What I want to know is if people who pre-ordered a box can pre-download it somewhere, and just punch in the cd-key when it arrives.

Yeah, you can download it and install it, and meanwhile you can punch in the cd-key into your battle net account.
    Then you're good to go!

    I think anyway ;P

Negative, Ghost Rider. You will only be provided a link to pre-download the game client if you have pre-purchased through Battle.net. If you pre-purchased at a store there is no place on Battle.net to pre-download.

However, somewhere on this site a link was provided to pre-download the client and have it waiting on your hard drive for the release of the game and input of your cd key. But its up to you... pre-download something onto your harddrive that will be the exact same build that is on the disc provided in the retail box you purchased? Both the pre-download client and the retail disc will require a release-day patch!

I have to get back to the hospital with my wife and newborn, otherwise I would look up that link to the client download for you. Its buried in these forums somewhere.

Any chance you can chase down that link? I pre-ordered from GS (digital DL) and they can't get their shit together to get me a code to pre-load...

    EDIT: NVM.... found it...

I am literally swimming in GS gift cards... So I went and preordered D3 from them and wow... They have no clue what is going on. Apparently I have to wait for them to call me, to tell me that I can pre-load. Then I have to wait for an email with a "CD key" to activate it, and the kicker is the email will come at exactly 12:01 on the 15th... Has anyone heard anything regarding this, other than the "Blizzard and GS strike a deal," info on the net? Seems odd.

Meh, sounds like a dumb gamestop. Mine knows all the ins an outs for diablo 3 at least, They asked Physical copy or Digital, The digital they should just give you the code in which you add to your account. Then you have the pre-license like everyone else. (then again, this IS their fire blizzard didgital download game, so it is a new system for them)

If you have a gamestop you should go for the physical copy ( then again, if they dont have a midnight release or you live far away I can see that being an issue =( )

Was your code on a receipt somewhere?

posted a message on Does minimum req = 30fps low settings/res?
Thanks for the replies. As Ryude mentioned, I am using my laptop.

All things considered, It can't really get worse the the pillars event, right? I mean the screen was pretty much full of enemies. It shouldn't get much more "enemy condensed" than that, right?

I'm just hoping the retail release has a lot more optimization.

Additionally, is it right to advertise min specs that are virtually unplayable at times, but ok the majority at times? If I had a slightly worse setup, and didn't get to try the beta, I'd be pretty upset if I was told the game worked on my system, but in reality "worked" only meant it launches the client...

posted a message on Does minimum req = 30fps low settings/res?
Hello... I played the open beta with this setup:

    AMD a6-3400m apu quad core
    AMD Radeon HD 6520g
    4gb ddr3

Played fine on med-low settings at what ever the 16:9 resolution is... Except the "Four skeleton pillars" part, and a handful of other places occasionally, where my fps would tank... Very low...

I surpass the min specs, and the only thing that falls short of the recc specs is my graphics card. Shouldn't I expect to play the game atleast on low (with low res) without being crippled by super low fps at certain times? I mean, all I'm asking for is a constant 30 fps... I play mostly on consoles lately, so I'm used to it.

I guess what I'm asking is, shouldn't min specs equate to ATLEAST 30fps on low settings?

Any insight would be helpful, thanks!
