posted a message on electrocute -> Chain Lightning?
Yeah, the single target damage is lackluster. I don't really use it that way though since I am using Disintegrate or AO for damage on elites the vast majority of the time, and I don't have AP problems. Thanks though, that's pretty much the conclusion that I came to myself.

posted a message on electrocute -> Chain Lightning?
So, I'm just curious as to why I have never, not once, seen an inferno Wiz using Electrocute w/chain lightning (or Electrocute with any other rune for that matter).

Now, my build is working for me, so I'm not asking if I should or shouldn't continue to use it, I would just like some explanation as to why other signatures (mainly MM -> seeker or SP -> orb) seem to be used far more often by Wizards in inferno.

I've tried MM -> seeker, didn't like it really. I've tried SP -> orb, and it's fine, does nice damage, but I prefer the quick, accurate strike of electrocute, as well as the fact that it propagates through huge groups instantly, has great range, and can "bend" around walls and obstacles due to the chain effect. Anyway, like I said, just curious.

posted a message on Finally got my refund!
You played the game for 65 hours, that's less than $1 / hour. You're just as bad as the idiots who order food at a restaurant, eat the plate clean, and then ask for their money back because it "wasn't good" or some other rubbish. You're lucky they gave you a refund, I wouldn't have.

Sometimes you buy something, a game, a music CD, whatever, and it's not all that you had hoped for. That doesn't give you the right to a refund. Buyer beware, sometimes you make a bad buy (though you didn't seeing as you played the thing for 65 hours). That's your problem, not theirs. The game wasn't defective.

posted a message on seriously the guy that invented cooldown on deaths
    Quote from Adkhean

is plain stupid, how is it ''fun'' to wait for 30+ seconds to rez? they need to change this because this isn't WoW... i'm getting annoyed as hell when I die multiple times agains't a elite and have to wait to continue playing, they could have though of something else to punish death, not something that makes me wanna throw my computer away...

maybe it's just me but when I die I want to be where i was ASAP to have my revenge and kill the mobs that killed me, not to wait 30+ seconds before doign so..., I understand the ''need'' in WoW but it's not here in Diablo no one is gonna PK you...

Yeah, well, that's the point now isn't it? If you are waiting 30+ seconds over and over again it means that you simply aren't good and/or geared enough for the content you are facing. Removing the timer would mean that you could easily kite a pack back to your spawn point, whittling down their HP between deaths until they are dead. This is exactly why there is a timer to begin with.

It's not "stupid", it's there to keep players like you from killing packs they shouldn't be able to kill. And no, 30+ seconds is not "3-4 deaths", it's far more than that.

Is there something I'm missing? Gear in hell mode isn't good enough to progress into inferno, but can't kill anything in inferno to get the gear. What am I missing here? any tips/advice would be most appreciated.

You have phrased your question in terms of a faulty assumption. Gear in Hell mode act IV *is* good enough to get into and start farming act I inferno. Act IV hell drops gear from act I inferno. You simply simply haven't been farming enough. It really does take a while, that's what inferno is all about.

posted a message on GF% and MF% in multiplayer games
    Quote from gcbirzan

    Quote from Cloudfr0g

So I understand that MF in multiplayer games is averaged among the total number of players. Does this also apply to your Gold Find percentage? I have around 160% GF, but have only been doing A1 solo inferno runs.

I am reasonably confident they're not averaged. Empirical evidence from some 20 hours showed me that having MF more than your coop partner => more items. Similarly, you can easily see XP is not averaged, and when they were explaining, they lumped MF, XP and GF together.

More anecdotal really... did you keep statistics on what gear you found with and without partners and did you make sure to capture a large set of data? No, you didn't. The devs say it is split, they wrote the algorithm, I am inclined to believe them over you who is basically saying "yeah, it *feels* like it's not averaged". Right.

    posted a message on WoW > D3
What you (OP) have failed to realize is that comparing WoW, and MMO, to Diablo, a dungeon crawler, makes no sense. Personally I can't wait until all of you WoW converts leave the game.

You and those like you really just need to stop with the WoW comparisons. Don't like the game? The genre isn't for you, move on. This game isn't for everyone, it targets a very niche audience. Sure, millions will play through normal and decide that it is an average game at best, but that's not what Diablo is all about.

You may as well compare Mario to a console RPG and say that it sucks because it's too linear. Different genres, different goals.

    Quote from gorillawarf

right now my dps is 5k with 12k hp. that dose not matter since i can kill a mob with like 3 deaths with the slow hp regen but not when it skips like 60% to full...thats either how its supposed to be in inferno or a weird glitch..would like to know plz

I had 4800 dps in act I Hell at level 51. Of course you can't kill anything, you're ridiculously undergeared. You have to go back and farm gear, that's what the game is. You can't just play through the story and expect to conquer inferno.

Great, I have a two hour windows in which to play, probably the last time I'll be able to this week, and the servers are down. I'm constantly reminded of how awesome it is to force players to always be online.

This was Blizzard's plan all along.
You already spent the 1 time payment, and they already got your money.
They don't care if you get bored or not.
Now eventually, people will start going back to WoW where there's a monthly subscription.
    Win win situation for Blizz.
    :ninja:

Yes, it was their plan all along to release a game and charge for it. Diabolical!

Most players will drop the game after clearing normal I would imagine. Others will play through to at least Hell, maybe on multiple toons. There will probably be a smaller crowd of players, just like DII, who will play for a long, long time. Or maybe not, we'll just have to wait and see. You could have asked the same question of DII when it came out and people are still playing it to this day.

posted a message on Auction House Fix
I suppose I don't understand why the BS is a necessity to begin with. There is a need to obtain gear from a source outside of champ packs and bosses. The AH is filling that need. Whether it's the AH or the BS I really don't care as long as that need is being met.

Blizz obviously didn't anticipate the effect that the AH would have on the BS, so it's not working out later on. There will probably come a time when most players have max level toons and won't flock to the AH in such numbers. The number of items will probably drop too as only the best gear, gear that is hard to obtain, will be in demand.

I don't know, I suppose I just don't care. If I need a piece of gear because I am having trouble and don't feel like farming I'll go to the most convenient source, which currently is the AH. I don't think lowering the current auction limit will change that.
